This Week I had an interview with our own Claudio. He is part of the PR-team and on this Saturday he will go back to Germany. His parents are originally from Italy, but immigrated to Germany in the seventies. Although Claudio was born, raised, and still studying in Germany, he has the Italian citizenship.
How long did you stay in Canada?
My total stay in Vancouver is 9 weeks.
Why are you in Canada?
The first reason is that I wanted to have a great life experience, and it was indeed a great life experience. The second reason is to improve my English skills with the Internship that I do here at INTERNeX.
Why did you choose Canada?
I know many people in Germany who were already in Canada. Everyone told me how beautiful the landscapes are and how friendly people are in Canada. Therefore I decided to go to Canada and make my own Canadian experience with all the beautiful landscapes and the friendly people. My friends were right! Canada has so many beautiful places and the people are really friendly.
What do you like most about Vancouver?
There are many things that I like here, but I especially like the Stanley Park and the Lions Gate Bridge by night. Furthermore I like all the landscapes around Vancouver, it is unbelievable beautiful!!
How did you find INTERNeX International Exchange?
My University is working with INTERNeX since a couple of years and they recommended me INTERNeX!
How did you like your internship?
Oh yes I like my internship! I have lot of friendly colleagues and if I do not understand something, everyone is willing to help me.
What kind of tasks are you responsible for on daily basis?
I worked in the PR-Department, I organized different events and I informed candidates about these events by writing blogposts. After a couple of weeks I got involved in the process of developing a new website, this was really interesting!
Is it related to the study you are doing back home?
I am studying business administration with the special subject taxation and auditing. I learned a lot about public relation and marketing, and this knowledge is related to business administration.
Where have you been in and around Vancouver?
I have seen a lot of places in and around Vancouver and I have made all the INTERNeX trips and I can recommend everyone to join every INTERNeX event. I have been to Whistler, Nanaimo, Tofino, Banff, Jasper, and I also went to Seattle.
What is the most memorable thing you did in Canada?
Try to surf in Tofino, the bungee jump in Whistler and the Sunset over Nanaimo. These things are just a few examples that I will never forget!
What is the first thing you will do when you return back home?
Visit my parents and eat the homemade pasta made by my mom.
What was the best thing about your Internship/your stay in Canada?I improved my English skills and I learned a lot about the Canadian culture. I also met many people with different nationalities, and this is what Vancouver makes so special: The open mind thinking!
What was the worst thing about your Internship/stay in Canada?
The alcohol is way too expensive and the beer tastes very bad! Furthermore I do not like it that all clubs and pubs close already at 3am, in Germany the Clubs are open until 5am or 6am
Would you recommend INTERNeX International Exchange?
Yes! I had a good experience with INTERNeX. INTERNeX found a great internship for me. Furthermore they arranged my accommodation, namely living in a home stay family. I felt welcome, because if I had questions, problems, or I wanted some advice I could come there and they would help me to fix the problem!
Thanks you Claudio for having this interview with us. We are sad that you are leaving on this Saturday, and we wish you all the luck of the world
Cheers, Lydia
