VANCOUVER

Caribbean days in North Vancouver – July 23-24 from 9am to 11pm
Each July, the Trinidad & Tobago Cultural Society of BC presents the Caribbean Days Festival. This event draws a crowd of exuberant fun-lovers to North Vancouver’s Waterfront Park for a weekend of parading, dining and dancing in the sunshine. This is a weekend of tropical rhythm, cuisine, carnival and culture as only the Caribbean can offer. Over the years, the Festival has grown into the largest Caribbean event on the local calendar, Drawing tens of thousands of attendees, it is among the very largest cultural events in BC, Canada. Illuminares Lantern Procession  – July 24
Experience the beauty of Illuminares – an annual celebration of light, art and space. For over 20 years this event has been a family tradition and this year it moves to the Downtown Eastside into the W2 Storyem (the Woodwards Site) with a mix of indoor and outdoor installations (in nearby Trounce Alley) as well as artists, music, performances and more. Crankworxs – July 15 – 24, 2011

TORONTO

Mabuhay Philippines Toronto Summer Festival – july 23
The Mabuhay Philippines Toronto Summer Festival is the largest celebration of Philippine heritage and culture in Canada. The annual event features almost 200 vendors, singers, dancers, Philippine cuisine providers, art exhibits, raffles and more. The festival is a unique event in the Filipino-Canadian community. It is the only gathering that involves various Filipino-Canadian associations and groups that represent different regions, educational institutions and cultural aspects of the Philippines.

Filipino food, visual arts, entertainment and businesses will all be represented with trade shows and more. This event takes place in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Click here for more information.

World Football Chalenge 2011: Italy vs. Portugal – July 23
The Italian, Juventus Football Club is sparring against the Portuguese club, Sporting Clube de Portugal, in  the Herbalife World Football Challenge.

The World Football Challenge is an exhibition international club soccer competition featuring clubs from Europe and North America. It made it’s debut in the summer of 2009.

Beaches International Jazz Festival – July 22 – 24
The annual Beaches International Jazz Festival showcases jazz, blues, big band, vocalists, African, Caribbean, reggae, hip-hop, South American, Latin, rhythm and blues and more. The event takes places at several venues across the city and boasts an eclectic line-up. This year’s headliners include Andy Kim, Big Sam’s Funky Nation and The Duke Robillard Band.
