Chinese New Year “Year of the Dragon”

Yesterday we celebrated the Chinese New Year “The year of the Dragon”. In countries such as Canada, Australia and the United States, although Chinese New Year is not an official holiday, many ethnic Chinese hold large celebrations.

There are 12 zodiac signs that recur every twelve years. This year is the “Year of the Dragon”. People born in this year share certain characteristics, such as flexible, brave, and tactless. Click here to read more.

Since there are many Chinese living in the city of Vancouver, there will be a huge Chinese parade on Sunday through the city. Furthermore there will be all kinds of celebrations around Chinatown. We are looking forward to the impressive annual Chinese parade.

Read more about this festival later on our blog “What to do on the weekend”.

Petra
