The city is busy this weekend so much to choose from. On sunday you can take on the challenge of Grouse Grind with INTERNeX but if you’re not that active you can take part in other activities. Check them out and let me know how they where !

NORTH AMERICA’S LARGEST DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL

Crowds packed at the shores of scenic False Creek around Science World and Olympic Village for two days of free live music, beer gardens and – of course – some intense dragon boat racing.

POP UP SALE IN GASTTOWN

Beggars Banquet is a pop-up flea market with cash bar named after “The rolling Stones 1968 album.  That is the theme of this social event with collectors from vintage clothing to those after new clothing labels, curios, records, skateboards, home decor and hand-crafted goods.

When: From 6pm to 11pm on Friday, June 15 and 11am to 6pm Saturday, June 16

Car Free Day Block Parties

This is your chance to meet more canadians because in different neighborhoods everybody will come out their houses and celebrate the CAR FREE DAY. 

Commercial Drive

When: June 17 from noon to 6 pm. Streets are closed from 10am to 8pm.
Where: Venables St. to North Grandview Hwy/Central Valley Greenway Bike Lane
Perks: This is where Vancouver’s car-free carnivals began, back in 2005. Enjoy roller disco, free pie at “OccuPIE” camp, roaming street performers, 4 stages with live music and  – including a KidsZone stage – plus many food vendors and artisans.

Main street

When: June 17 from noon to 8pm. Streets are closed from 10am  to 10pm
Where: East 12th to 29th on Main Street
Perks: The longest party happening this year, Main Street will be a hive of activity including BLIM craft market on 17th Avenue, Street Hockey and a Knit In Living Room on 28th Avenue, a Community Police Kids Bike Rodeo on 15th Avenue, The SFU Philosophers’ Cafe and over 8 stages of live music by Anza Club, Neptune Records and more.

West end

When: June 17 from noon to 6pm. The street is closed from 10am to 8pm.
Where: Denman Street between Davie and Robson
Perks: Kids Zone, Bouncy Castle, BBQ by Tango Gourmet Meats, visitors from the Vancouver Aquarium and a special appearance by Miss Teen Vancouver World 2012.

Kitsilano

When: June 16 and June 17 from 10am to 9pm
Where: All over Kits. See this map
Perks: Kits does its own thing on Car Free Day. Rather than shut down a street, neighbours get together and host parties throughout the neighbourhood. Celebrations often include a barbecue, music, and living room set ups in the middle of the street. Check the map of festivities and join in.

The Beach BBQ & Brews Festival 

This family event is the place to be this weekend. Live music, BBQ competitions, grilling demonstrations, craft vendors, beer garden and FREE RIBFEST.
