Hostelling International (HI Hostels) was founded when a German schoolteacher, Richard Schirrmann, wanted to provide a place for students to stay during class trips. The first hostel was located in Altena, Westphalia, Germany and HI has continued to expand ever since.

Hostelling International is now one of the top hostel networks in the world. This global network of hostels makes travel much more affordable for students just about anywhere.

When you stay at an HI Hostel you will have a truly unique experience.

Not only will you be provided with a place to stay but you will also benefit from all the extras that hostels have such as fully catered kitchens, common spaces, free Wi-Fi and many other great facilities. Most importantly you will also be provided with an opportunity to meet new people and experience Canada like a local.

Hostelling International is a not for profit organization whose mission is to help all, especially the young gain a greater understanding of people, places and cultures.
