Last weekend while we were enjoying in the Rockies, in Vancouver was going on a huge event too! Have you heard about the Vancouver Pride Parade?
It was celebrated in the bohemian West End and travelled along Robson Street to Denman Street.
The most of the gay community locals are in The West End area where there are a lot of shops, pubs or clubs are specially designed for them! For example: 1181 is the perfect pre-party for open mind people or Celebrities which is the largest gay and lesbian nightclub in Vancouver!
It is so cool to walk along Davie Street and find a lot of rainbow flags!
Do you know the meaning of the different colors of the flag? Red if or life, orange for healing, yellow for the sun, green for nature, blue for art, indigo for harmony and violet for spirit. Gilbert Baker designed it in 1918 this flag in San Francisco inspired in different sources like the hippies movement.
Nowadays the Pride Parade is celebrated all around the world and it´s usually a big event. It´s a celebration to remember The Stonewall riots, a series of demonstrations against the police that took place in New York in 1969 and that determine the beginning of the real gay rights!
I feel really proud of living here where the people can be themselves and everybody respects that! Tolerance and respect are one of the most important things for the progress and improvement!
Again, Vancouver rocks!
