This last two weeks INTERNeX office was especially busy welcoming all our newcomers! Panorama, Hemlock, Banff…was some of the destinations for our new candidates! We had the pleasure to meet them all before they start working in their resorts during the winter season. It’s amazing how brave they are! The most of the people are just nineteen! For some of them are their first time living abroad… for others, ski and snowboard are their passion so it’s the perfect excuse to come to Canada. Speaking personally with them I found them simply amazing! Studying in a sailing boat, diving in Australia, combating in Afghanistan… We shared short time together but they are all inspiring in their own way!
Definitely I love the “Viking” culture hihi of becoming bilingual and taking a gap year between high school and university! When you travel abroad and you meet so many new and diferent people you learn more about yourself and what you want for your future, what you want to study, what kind of profession would you like to have.
And I know of what I am speaking about, it’s really important to try and try again. If you think your dream will be, becoming a tour guide, just try and you will realize if it’s your ideal profession or not, and it’s just an example, no matter what profession is your ideal, but until you don’t try and experiment for yourself you won’t know.
So parents, friends…before getting married with your University, College, try to understand who are you and what you really like for your future life, and when you’ll know just work hard to make that true, but it doesn’t make any sense just enroll whatever degree because you have to or because is what the people usually does. It doesn’t really matter to finish a degree with 22 or to finish YOUR degree with 26.
And if you don’t have any idea, travel, move to another city, learn another language, do an internship, go out of your “safety” circle, live new experiences… in some point you will know what to do next, and you will have enjoyed and learned during the process.
Rockies People, thank you for sharing your time with us and being such an inspiration!
You will have the time of your lives up there! Enjoy!
