Time to say goodbye to Matt!

Matthias Wiegel has lived in, and managed the INTERNeX Staff house for one year and 9 months. Now it is time for Matt to move on and say goodbye!

Matt started as an INTERNeX candidate, he participated in the city placement program and worked at Blenz Coffee Shop.
Last year we did an expose with Matt an asked him what he likes the most about Canada;

Well it’s hard just to choose one thing so i’m not even going to try lol. I have been to so many incredible places in Canada some of my favorite places were Victoria where I went whale watching and that was breathtaking and really reminded me of the movie Free Willy. I also went to Whistler and did some snowboarding and then last but not least I loved Tofino where I went surfing. Everywhere I’ve been has truly been magnificent because i’ve been exposed to so many of the beautiful sites in Canada and i love all the nature I’ve been blessed to see.

Click here to read the rest of Matts expose.

After being the INTERNeX staff house manager for 1 year and 9 months Matt passed it on to Kathryn Campbell, who for sure will do a great job as well!
Matt wrote the following letter to thank everyone and tell how he experienced his time in the house;

I. Matthias Wiegel have lived in, and managed the INTERNeX staff house for one year and 9 month, and it was the experience of a life time.
The idea behind the staff house is to create an atmosphere, which gives young people a chance to meet new people, and exchange and learn together. The majority of tenants coming to our house are young and eager for an adventure. The house surely is not perfect or spotless, bit it has a character, like no other. People in the house are all fun loving people that like to party hard and have a good time. You never get bored, and especially for a house manager, like me, there is always something to do. Due to the fact, that the staff house is a very old house, I spend some fun times unclogging drains and toilets, as well as getting electrocuted by the stove. What did I learn from it? I know now, how to solve all these issues in less than 5 min without ruining my hair!

I hereby would like to thank everybody at INTERNeX, for this great time and opportunity!
You guys ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers,
Mathias Weigel

Matt, thank you for everything and the best of luck in the future! INTERNeX will miss you!

Picture of the week!

This week we have a special picture of the week because by showing this picture we would like to tell you something great! On this picture you see some INTERNeX candidates who were in Canada in the summer of 2010 and here they are in The Rocky Mountains! INTERNeX arranged a 4-day trip with a lot of fun activities. People maybe already told you, that you can’t leave Canada without being in The Rocky Mountains. That’s why we are thinking about going to The Rockies as well! We are trying to arrange an INTERNeX 4-day trip to The Rocky Mountains in May 2011. We still need to arrange a lot of things  so we will let you know if it will happen and give you the information. In the meantime you can enjoy this picture, imagine youself being there! Let us know by leaving a comment what you think about our plans.

Do you have a picture of your great experience here in Canada? or something that’s related to Canada, INTERNeX or something else that’s fun? Send it to pr@internexcanada.com with a small description, and maybe your picture will be the picture of the week next time!

Cheers,

Your PR-team

2010 Olympic Winter Games Anniversary

Time is running!

It is already one year ago that Vancouver enchanted millions of people all around the globe with a mind-blowing opening ceremony of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Approximately 2,600 athletes from 82 nations participated in 86 events in fifteen disciplines. The City of Vancouver put a lot of effort into making this event unforgettable for everyone. Be it sportsman, spectator or resident. And even one year later, the magic moment should not be forgotten. Therefore the City of Vancouver will celebrate the one year anniversary of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver! It will take place from February 12- February 28. As I can see from the schedule, we have amazing two weeks ahead of us!

Just to give you some examples:

Lunar Fest sees hundreds of lanterns set up in a night time extravaganza with lanterns and art throughout the city!

– Visit the Olympic Cauldron as its relit for the one year anniversary of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games!

– Relive the Olympic Spirit at one of Vancouver’s most visited venues, the Robson Square Ice Rink!

– And much more….!

It is too bad I haven’t been here when the Olympic Winter Games took place in Vancouver, but I will definitely try to catch some of the spirit during the anniversary dates! I will provide you with more details next week so STAY TUNED!

Have a great weekend!

Ziska

The INTERNeX 2010 Blog Preview – 4.Quarter

The last highlights of this year! Of course we have to mention the Vancouver Fashion Week. In October 2010 the Vancouver Fashion Week was almost there and INTERNeX gave a VIP-ticktet away!!! Get you golden ticket was the name of the blogpost! Melissa won the ticket and went to the event together with Tracy. Unfortunately I wasn’t here yet so I missed this great event but I’m glad that Melissa and Tracy had a great time.

And of course there was Halloween!  INTERNeX went to Fright Night. They went to some different scary places and they took some rides that were included. I think I’m too chicken for this kind of activities haha..

At the end of the year there was the Westcoast Christmas Show at the end of November 2010. With 1 month remaining before Christmas, the Westcoast Christmas Show’s timing was perfect for me (and maybe also for you) to experience the Christmas atmosphere.

December, the last month of the year, with a lot of Christmas activities. Check out the Lighting Winter Events in Vancouver ,the Capilano Suspension Bridge Xmas Light Tour or the Ice Magic Festival in Lake Loise. I tried to go to all of the events to get the Christmas feeling. Believe me, all the events were worth it!

And December was also the month that some INTERNeX candidates went to Whistler for a weekend. We had a great time. Curious? You can read here how it was.

The last quarter of the year we also introduced the picture of the week. See here wich INTERNeX candidates were selected. So take a lot of beautiful pictures and maybe you will be selected for picture of the week in 2011!

Last but not least, our interns! The persons who wrote all these blogs!

Marine, She finished her internship and after that the office seemed so empty!

Tiffany, With exams coming up, to her dismay, She was unable to continue her position as a PR Intern at INTERNeX.

Lauren, who helped allot to get the Blog to the next level.

Laura, Who moved from Ontario to Vancouver and did an awesome job at INTERNeX

Mette, Of course I’ve seen some work of her and I think she’s great and I think she did a lot for the company.

Manouk, The girl from The Netherlands who did a great job.

Hopefully, you all enjoyed our summary of the year 2010. I hope you all had a great year with a lot of memories! Have a great New Years Eve and I wish you a Happy New Year! I hope to see you all again in 2011. The next year will be of course also filled with a lot of events, trips and PuB NiGHTs!

Love,

Elvera
