INTERNeX Canada: Fun Facts

Our Fun Facts for today consist of some funny laws existing in different countries. A few of them might be just a little outdated. But judge for yourself…

In Canada, if you are released from prison, it is required that you are given a handgun with bullets and a horse, so you can ride out of town.

Yeah right, so that you don’t have any means to do further harm – none at all.

In France, no pig may be addressed as Napoleon by its owner.

Would Hollande be OK?

In Alaska, U.S., it is considered an offense to push a live moose out of a moving airplane.

Seriously, who would do that?

In Florida, U.S., it is considered an offense to shower naked.

OK, really???

In Idaho, U.S., it is illegal for a man to give his sweetheart a box of candy weighing more than 50 lbs (~ 23 kg).

I take this as a personal offense – gimme my candy!

In Ohio, U.S., it is illegal to get a fish drunk.

First of all, how would someone get that done? Secondly, how could anyone ever tell??

In Kentucky, U.S., no female shall appear in a bathing suit on any highway within this state unless she be escorted by at least two officers or unless she be armed with a club.
[Ammendment] The provisions of this statuate shall not apply to […] to female horses.

OK, so does this mean that women and female horses are on the same level and even more disturbing – do horses in Kentucky usually wear bathing suits?

In Pennsylvania, U.S., all fire hydrants must be checked one hour before all fires.

Yeah, because you know when there will be a fire. They are always so reliable.

In Texas, U.S., criminals are required to give their victims 24 hours notice, either orally or in writing, and to explain the nature of the crime to be committed.

Dear Madam and Sir, I hereby inform you about my intention to murder you tomorrow at 8 p.m. I f this time does not suit you, we can reschedule. Sincerely yours,…

Hope that cheered you up a bit 🙂

See you soon,

Annika

INTERNeX Canada: Casual Friday – Into The Wild!

Hello guys,

Today I want to share a story about a movie I saw. In The Netherlands I used to work in a cinema house. One day we had a art movie on our program from the USA. The title is Into The Wild. It’s tells a story about a young guy that wanted to enjoy the freedom and the wild. He took his car from Atlanta (eastcoast) all the way to the west (Seattle, Vancouver) and up through the Yukon to Alaska. This is based on a real story what happened between 1990-1992.

The movie inspired me to do a lot of travels in Northern-America. It really shows the beauty of the Northern American continent. From the mountains in California to the endless plains in the middle of the States.

This guy named Chris Mccandless used some amazing and interested expressions from books that he read during his 2 years of travel. A few examples of his quotes:

“…there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.”

“If you want something in this life, reach out and grab it.”

And this one:

“It is important in life not to be strong, but to feel strong, to measure yourself at least once.”

This gives you an idea of the guy where this movie is about. To give you a better idea check out the trailer below:

I heard from a lot of people that they were amazed by this movie. I can only say; check it out sometime, it’s definitely worth it!

Great weekend everybody

Cheers,

Jelle

INTERNeX Canada: News/ Fun fact

For the Europeans to travel for example to Hawaii is insane expensive, and you don´t go there if it´s not a really special date of your life like your honeymoon

But nowadays we have the opportunity to go to incredible places for prices much more affordable that if we were still in Europe!

Here there are three examples of international trips to go:

Las Vegas

Las Vegas was basically a desert just over 100 years ago but now it´s the city of excellence to have fun “what happens in Las Vegas stays in Las Vegas”. There you can find the most glamorous, unique hotels in the world and it´s the best place to play at casinos, pools, health spas and golf courses. And of course perfect if you want marry each other!!!

Alaska

The only separate United States full of wild nature is not that expensive if you travel from here.

You can find flights for less than 300$ or you can make a cruise around the main places of Alaska without paying a lot of money! Cool! And cold too!

Hawaii

Have you ever seen Lost? Imagine being in that beaches and paradisiac places while you sunbath yourself and take and exotic cocktail. OK, Irene stop imaging..

Christian one of our INTERNeXer is going to go there and the flight cost him around 300$ and the hostel more or less 100$!

For less that 500 $ you can spend a few days in one of the most amazing places of the world.

But it´s no necessary to cross the border to find amazing places! Actually we live in one of the most livable places all over the world and there are awesome places around the city as well.

Rockies, glacier lakes, natural parks…BC has everything!

Do you want to travel? And have fun? So just join us for the trips! Actually now we are organizing a super fun trip to Whistler in October!

Cheers,

Irene
