Smart Saver

This time we have a super cheap grocery smart saver in China town for you guys.

If you want to buy watermelons for $1 or three cucumbers for $1 or maybe you are more fan of strawberries for a $1, than you should go and visit the Sunrise Market in Chinatown. The Sunrise market is located on 300 Powell street, just of Main street. They do not only sell cheap vegetables and fruits, but also basic groceries. The market is open everyday from 8am to 6pm.

Sunrise market is a asian run grocery shop, which you will notice as soon as you see the store. Asian people running around talking to each other and than there is you, standing in the middle of all of it buying your cheap grocery, couldn’t get any better.

If you go, do not let the look of the store scare you away, it is not a no frills, nesters or any of the other supermarket.

See you there

INTERNeX Canada: Smart Save Vancouver

Really guys, the new office is The Place to find cheap deals. If the last week Mercedes gave us some amazing discounts inside the mall, today I want to show you a little secret that you can discover just in the next corner (Abbott with Keefer).

I’m talking about the T&T, an Asian supermarket with a lot of food to take away. You can find a wide range of Japanese food… (Seaweed salad is something delicious). The prices are normally really good, but only a few people know that, between 7 and 9 PM, they make discounts between 20%-50%.

Maybe is not the best idea keep that food for the next night but for if you have to buy dinner in Downtown… it’s a good option.

Definitely, Vancouver is the place for the sushi-lovers. It’s the only thing that is cheaper than in Europe, I guess. Due to the importance of the Asian culture in our city, and the large amount of competitors, in our lovely Van it’s possible to find sushi for a really good price. If you haven’t tried it yet, this is the moment.

Syokuji wo Tanoshinde!!

Clara.

International Vancouver: Oppa Gangnam Style!

Canada is such a multicultural place, especially Vancouver. It is home to one of the biggest Asian communities! And this post is one of the reasons why I think Vancouver is such an international city. And before you all say something, I know this post is way overdue…but I’m still going through with it. For those of you who didn’t know, I was born in South Korea but moved to Vancouver when I was only seven.  And every time I meet someone new and after when they find out that I’m Korean,  immediately they start doing this – Op, op, op, Oppa Gangnam Style *dance moves*. Seriously? And after their horrible rendition of this song, they proceed to ask me what the song lyrics actually mean. It amazes me how viral the music video has gone yet so many people don’t know what the lyrics mean, well more like they don’t take the time to find out for themselves.

So read carefully…because I am about to explain what the song is about…for like the 50th time. Basically, Psy, the singer and creator of this song, talks about the lifestyle of Gangnam (a district in South Korea). He describes how the women in Gangnam act proper during the day time but become wild during the night. And Psy talks about about how he is the right kind of man for these ladies in Gangnam.

There, now you know a little bit more about the song and what Psy is talking about. Like I said, Vancouver is a city known for one of the largest Asian communities, but I think Koreans definitely stand out…due to the help from this famous song.

Isn’t it crazy how one video went so viral worldwide? It has reached over a billion views on Youtube!

Cheers,

Flora

INTERNeX Canada: PuB NiGHT Review

Yesterday evening, we were at the Blarney Stone, a very popular Irish pub, in Gastown! I got to say, it was a very fun night! A lot of people made it out yesterday (perhaps it was because the weather was really nice). Nevertheless, it was all great just catching up and talking to everyone. And I got to add, we were a very multicultural group yesterday -France, Germany, Holland, Sweden, Korea (myself, Represent!), and of course Denmark! I was going around trying to learn a few words from each country…but I can’t remember any of them now. Also, we actually had quite a few “new” members to our group, some who aren’t even part of INTERNeX! But we all quickly became good friends after a drink or two 😉

But I have something to confess! Last night, I opted out for a nice cup of tea instead of beer. I’m pretty sure I was embarrassing everyone at the table! Blarney Stone pub definitely does give an Irish pub feel with their banners that were hanging on the walls.  But we found it funny that there was Asian cuisine in their menu (at an Irish pub?), I guess the Asians are taking over! Overall, I thought that the Blarney stone pub was an awesome place to hangout, drink, and party with your friends! I’ll come back here for another party, and that time I will definitely be drinking!

Cheers,

Flora
