Are you ready for Vargas Island?

It is time to prepare for our big adventure! We will spend the weekend on the uninhabited Vargas Island. I am sure we will have a lot of fun with 11 great people at this amazing place. Here is some important information for you.

We will meet on Friday at 10.15am at Horseshoe Bay. Keep in mind that this ferry terminal is located in North Vancouver, so you need to plan in some time to get there. From there, we will take the ferry to Vancouver Island. After we arrive in Nanaimo, we will pick up our car and drive to the other side of the island. In Tofino, you have some time to get a snack, grab a coffee and say bye to proper toilets. A water taxi will get us to Vargas Island where we will build up our tents at the beach. A barbecue and campfire are on the program for the night, before we crawl in our sleeping bags.7252613406_2295c51950_n

Let’s hope that the sun will wake us up on Saturday morning, so we can enjoy our breakfast outside. Mission of the day: exploring the island and surviving. So, we can go for a hike and a swim, meet some wildlife on land and underwater, play fun games and just enjoy the beautiful nature. At night, we will warm up at the campfire and prepare ourselves some real Canadian s‘mores.

Sunday morning, we will already leave Vargas Island again. But before heading back to Vancouver, we will spend some time in Tofino. Known as the paradise for any water sport, we will try our luck on a board during a surfing lesson. In the afternoon, we are heading back to Nanaimo and from there we will go to Vancouver. We will be back around 10pm.

You might be wondering what to bring on this Robinson Crusoe trip. Make sure you do not carry too much stuff with you, since we have to change our way of transportation a few times. Here is what you should definitely pack:

  • ID
  • Water (bottles or containers, at least 2 liters)
  • Flashlight
  • Rain jacket
  • Sun cream
  • Good footwear (hiking shoes or similar)
  • For those who go surfing: Bathing suit and towel
  • Sleeping bag (if you took it home before)

I can’t wait to spend the nights at the campfire with you! See you tomorrow at our PuB NiGHT or Friday at Horseshoe Bay.

How was your weekend?

Thanks to Victoria Day, many of us had an extended weekend of 3 days. I was one of the lucky ones. And let me tell you, the last few days have been great: I was at the beach, learned more about science, went to another country and flew over Canada. Sounds too good (or crazy) to be true? Well, let me tell you how I succeeded in doing so.

On Friday, we started the weekend in the best way possible: we had a barbecue at the beach! Sunset Beach was the location to be. The grill was ready from 6pm on. The smell of burger patties and sausages filled the air fast. This is how summers are supposed to be. I enjoyed my food, played Frisbee and had many laughs and talks with many of you. And let’s not forget the beautiful sunset we could all admire!

New day, new activity: Saturday was all about science! Well, at least for several hours. We went to Science World and did many things: we saw a show about electricity, discovered the different galleries and engaged in several interactive demonstrations. I also took the opportunity to visit the exhibition ‘The Science Behind PIXAR’ – where I learned how some of my favorite childhood movies were created. In the evening, I met up with some of my favorite Swedish people. For a few beers only. Needless to say, it wasn’t a few beers only. But hey: I succeeded taking my last bus home.

After a few hours of sleep, it was time to get up again. At 5:40am, my alarm went off. I obviously wasn’t very energetic, but it was time for me to leave the country. A day trip to Seattle was ahead of me. Yay, my first time in the US. Unfortunately, crossing the border took longer than expected, but the sun was shining for us in the city. So, being a total tourist again for one day, I did what I had to do: visiting the Gum Wall, eating Beecher’s Mac and Cheese (soooo good, by the way), strolling over the Public Market, walking through downtown and enjoying the view over Seattle from the Sky View Observatory. When we came back to Vancouver in the evening, we ended the day with a few beers.

On Monday – Victoria Day – I caught up on some sleep. It was not until 12.30pm when I crawled out of bed and took a shower. Then, I went to Canada Place with Kerstin to meet Billy. Time to do something fun! We decided to do ‘FlyOver Canada’. It is a virtual experience where you can fly over Canada. This, with the help of a spherical screen and suspending and moving seats. It was a wonderful experience, but I would have loved to fly a little longer than only 15 minutes. We ended our weekend the way we begun: hooray, a barbecue!

I hope you all had a great weekend, too. I can’t wait to hear your stories tomorrow at our PuB NiGHT at Dublin Calling!

Experience IT Review – Celebration of Lights

This weekend we had a relaxing beach day, barbecue and watched the Honda Celebration of Lights. Thank you all for coming!

We first met up on Jericho Beach at 4 PM to enjoy the sun and relax a little. Jericho is the perfect spot for that as it is way less busy than the beaches closer to downtown. Some of us had a big party the night before so they got some sleep on the beach.IMG_6432

After the beach we went to a private location to do the barbecue. We wanted to do it at the beach but unfortunately we only had a coal barbecue, which are currently not allowed due to the wildfires. Luckily we found another place to do it and although some preferred other food then the barbecue, it was still fun to eat together.

When it started to get dark it was time to go back down to Jericho Beach to watch the fireworks, but first we got to watch a really pretty sunset. The Honda Celebration of Lights is a yearly event. Three countries compete in the firework competition and on Saturday it was Japans turn. The fireworks started at 10 PM and lasted about 25 minutes, it was so pretty and mesmerizing to watch.

I hope to see you all on PuB NiGHT!

Review Whistler-Trip 2011

Hi Everyone

What an amazing weekend!! Thanks everyone for making this weekend into a great success!

The last weekend we had the trip to Whistler. It was a very exciting and great Trip. We were a group of twelve people and we have made several activities – Whistler had so much to offer for us!

After we arrived on Friday night we went to the Club.

On Saturday we took the Gondola to the Black Comb Mountain to enjoy the view – the view from the Mountains is so great – and to do some hiking.

On Saturday evening we have made all together a big great barbeque and after that we went a second time to Club.

On Sunday the Girls went to the horseback riding and the boy’s gone bungee jumping! But there was also a tough girl in our group jumping down the bridge… good job Natascha!

After this weekend everybody was exhausted but really happy to have participated at this trip! Hope we see you soon at the next INTERNeX event!

Cheers,

your PR-Department Team

How was your weekend?

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend! I started the weekend with a relaxed evening and I went to the gym really early on Saturday morning. After that I was ready for the Staff-a-licious Spring Party! People living in the Staffhouse decided to celebrate the upcoming nice weather and wanted to get together with all their friends. The party started already at 1 pm with some activities at a park nearby the staffhouse. We played soccer, baseball & frisbee. At around 4 pm we decided to go back to the house, take a shower and lit the barbecue!

Little by little more people showed up, it was fun having a barbecue with so many people! After the barbecue the sun went down, everybody went inside and there was a real house party going on! Sunday was for me a relaxing day with, of course, a house cleaning.

What did you do this weekend? Let me know by leaving a comment. Maybe we can share some great places to go to, fun activities to do and so on!

Cheers,

Elvera
