Highlights of the Month June 2014

With June beginning it is time to review the month of May and preview June and of course we do this in style… with a video.

We started the month of May with a visit to the extreme air park in Richmond. It was so much fun there if you did not had the chance to join us it is definitely worth going there! On the 9th of May it was time to do some relaxing activity with a visit to the cheesecake etc. Cheesecake etc is famous for their cheesecake and is only open at night. It is a really nice cozy restaurant and the cheesecake is delicious, afterwards we went to the Doolin’s for some drinks. In the mid of May we had our monthly overnight stay in Tofino. We went to Tofino for three days and had such a great time, we went surfing, whale watching, bear watching, kayaking and we had a little campfire near the hotel. After the Tofino it was time to go partying again in Vancouver with a Pub & Club night at The Pint.

In June we will go White Water Rafting in Chilliwack with Lee. In the second weekend we will go for a bike ride around Stanley Park and have nice little rest at one of the beaches. On the 21st of June it is time to support our German soccer team with some drinks and food. We will end the month of June with a Pub & Club night were we also sadly have to see goodbye to Daniela, so make sure you are there! And of course we will have our weekly pub nights on Wednesday’s so keep your eyes out on Facebook.

We hope you enjoyed May and will enjoy June, see you at the activities!

Tofino Trip Review

We just returned from our stay in Tofino and I already miss it. The beautiful view over the ocean, the nice little village and of course all the fun we had.

We left Vancouver last Saturday at 7am and drove for 40 minutes to the ferry. On the ferry we had a nice view over the ocean. After 1h40 we arrived on Vancouver Island. Our first stop was the Coombs market. This market is famous for their goats, which life on the roof of the shops. We had a short lunch break and then made our way on to the Cathedral grove. The Cathedral grove is a part of the MacMillian Provincal Park. In the park short walks can be made to see the huge and big trees. The biggest tree is 9meters. After hugging the trees we went back on the bus onto the waterfalls. At around 4pm we arrived in Tofino where some of us went on a sunset whale watching trips. The others wandered around the village, grabbed some food and visited the Toquin beach. At 7pm we all gathered together at the bus and drove to our hotel, Jamie’s Rainforest inn. At the hotel our dinner was already waiting for us and after the dinner we had a small campfire.

The next morning was an early morning, but luckily we had a delicious breakfast and could go on for our activities that day. Many activities were planned for that day. The first group went surfing and later at the day people went off to go kayaking, bear watching, whale watching or taking the water taxi to Meares Island for the big tree trail. We also were luckily that we could visit the Clayoquot island, also known as Stubbs island. This island is privately owned by Susan Bloom and is only open for visitors on the long weekend in May. After everyone finished their activities for the day it was time to grab some dinner at the village and it was possible to enjoy the sunset. At 9pm most of us made our way back to the hotel, where we had some drinks and played some games.
The next morning we got our breakfast package, including a muffin, apple and orange juice and off we went again for the next set of activities. Again we had beautiful weather. At 1pm we had to be back at the bus and we started making our way back to the ferry. We arrived in Vancouver at 9pm and made our way straight back home.

We hope you all enjoyed your time in Tofino and hope to see you tonight at the Flashmob!

Ps: we do not have a pub night this week, but we have a pub&club night on Friday.
