PuB NiGHT Review: The Lamplighter

“Only one more to go! Just one!” Last night, it was time to go back to one of our beloved pubs, The Lamplighter, to win some free drinks by yelling “bourbon bingo!” Although, spoiler alert, we didn’t win any. We played five rounds of Bingo, had 15+ participants, but faith was not on our side this time. Oh well… we had fun anyway!

After playing Bingo, we continued our conversations about work, life in our home countries, the surprisingly good weather and of course, the upcoming INTERNeX activities we have planned for you all. Many of you showed up at the pub, which made sure the tables we reserved were never empty. This made sure we always had something to talk and laugh about. 26857502527_58a05dec8e_n

At 11:30pm, it was time to say goodbye to the Lamplighter and say hi to the Met, because cheap beer is always a good idea. Some of you decided to bless us with your beautiful voices by grabbing the mic and doing karaoke. At 1:30 in the morning, we decided to call it a night.

I had a great time last night and I hope you did too! I look forward to seeing you all at the the Dutchie for a Day event this Saturday!

PuB NiGHT Review: The Lamplighter

“But I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more, just to be the man who walks a thousand miles to fall down at your door …“ I still had these lyrics in mind when waking up this morning. Why this song? Of course, one of our favourite karaoke songs at PuB NiGHT!

Before all the crazy singing started, we spent a few hours in The Lamplighter, a pub in Gastown. They offer a broad range of drinks, so everybody could choose their favourite one. Everybody just settled in, when we heard a famous voice again “It’s time for some Bourbon Bingo!”. So, everybody got sheets and daubers (really cool pens to mark your numbers) and we played some rounds. This time, I was the lucky one who managed to get a round of shots for the INTERNeX gang.

Pub Night 1

The time passed by quickly while telling stories about Salt Spring Island, but also future plans were discussed. I am always happy to see some new faces at our table, as it was the case yesterday. No matter, if someone arrived yesterday or six months ago, there are always good talks. Since half of our PR-Team is leaving soon, many of you signed the Canadian flags of Mandy and Bart. What a nice souvenir for them!

A few hours later, it was time to say hello to our well-known karaoke DJ at the Met. The papers for desired songs were filled in fast and soon old and new teams had the chance to grab the microphone. As it was Bart’s last pub night, he gave again the best to entertain the pub with his all-time favourites. I am sure your heart will go on in Vancouver, even if you cannot sing in the Met in the next weeks.

I hope you enjoyed this night and I will see you all again next Wednesday!

PuB NiGHT Review: The Lamplighter

Life is a waste of time, and time is a waste of life. So let’s get wasted all of the time, and have the time of our life. Yes, I think I can speak for everyone that joined yesterday when I say that we had another amazing PuB NiGHT! The Lamplighter was a great place to have delicious beers, fancy cocktails and even tasty food like curry wurst or yam fries.

The longer we were sitting at our tables, the more of you showed up. Everyone was talking and having a dri– BOURBON BINGO! Oh yea, we played Bingo at the pub, too. Jessica and Moa were lucky enough to win a Bingo round. They were rewarded with shots and glasses of beer. CHEERS!

When the Bingo was over and the last glasses of beer were emptied, we continued our PuB NiGHT adventure. And as usually, we ended up at the Met, our favourite karaoke bar. This was the moment where everyone showed off their stunning singing voices. But all good things must come to an end, so when the clock hit 2am, we grabbed our jackets and went for some fries and nuggets. With a full belly, we went home to bed and dreamed of all the wonderful things we did at this PuB NiGHT.

Here is some wisdom for the next PuB NiGHT to come: If the ocean was beer and I was a duck, I would swim to the bottom and drink myself up. But the ocean’s not beer and I’m not a duck, so let’s drink these pints and get messed up.

Thank you for this great PuB NiGHT and I see you this weekend at the 24 hours of winter on Grouse Mountain or next Wednesday at 131 Water!

PuB NiGHT Review: The Beaver Bar

BINGOOOOO! That is what we heard several times at The Beaver Bar yesterday night. What a great time we spent with you!

Yesterday’s pub was not that easy to find. The Beaver is not only a bar, but also a hostel full of international travellers. A huge table was already waiting for us on the gallery where we had a good view on the tables and the bar underneath us. We used the whole space on the gallery, because so many of you showed up! It was great to see old and new faces on our table. When all chairs were taken and everyone got their discounted drinks, it was time for a fun game: Bingo.

The first round was played as usual, crossing numbers off your paper as you hear them. After repeating numbers as 17 and 70 hundred times, we eventually got a winner in our round. Rebecka was the lucky one who shouted bingo as the first one! The night went on with a more challenging round: music bingo. A song was played and we had to cross the respective name on the paper. We took the chance during these rounds to prepare ourselves for the upcoming karaoke. Classic songs were loudly performed while sitting at the tables. Fun! And again, an INTERNeX winner: Pascal could pick up his price at the bar. Our voices were already warmed-up, so there was just one option where to go next: The Met, of course. Solos and duets were performed and even the entire INTERNeX crew gathered behind the microphones. It was only time to go home, when the lights switched on again. I had a great night and I hope you enjoyed it, too!

See you tomorrow in Kelowna or next Wednesday at The Lamplighter!

PuB NiGHT Review: The Beaver Bar

“For how many people do you want to make a reservation?” “I think between 10 and 15 people” “Sure!” …And there we were with 20 people! Wauw! We are very happy to see that so many of you showed up. A big group means also big fun! And we definitely had a lot of fun! Thank you all for joining this pub night!

We had a lounge for ourselves. A couple minutes after eight the lounge was already filled with people. We got a shot from the pub, so cheers to that. But after, more people were still coming, so we moved to a bigger table upstairs. Then it was time for the real work: the bingo began! And yes, we got our first prize! Alina got a free shot (which she was unfortunately not allowed to drink). Then it was time for the music bingo. And yes, another prize! This time Hanna won a free pitcher of beer. After singing out loud to the classic sing alongs and a couple dance moves later, we decided that our voice was not loud enough yet. So we went to the karaoke bar to sing through a microphone this time. Because some people still didn’t want to go home yet, the party continued in the Bourbon. After ordering a free burger (haha) the night was over.

The Beaver bar is a nice cozy bar underneath an international hostel. Every night they organise a different activity. For example the bingo, but also trivia or a DJ night. And a new great deal every day. All the ingredients for the perfect pub night! Since everybody loved it, we definitely are coming back here! Thank you for joining us this night and I hope to see you at the Chinese lantern festival this Saturday.
