How was your weekend?

The weekend is over, and it was a really special one for me and 14 other participants.20190712_195950

It was the weekend where we left for Vargas Island and went Camping. An island where you are all by yourself, no running water and where you are surrounded by the ocean, forest and yep…there are some wolfs too. But other than that, you are able to have the most beautiful time with friends in a really calm and just breathtaking atmosphere.

We started our trip on Friday (12 July 2019) at 10am and before we were able to head to the ferry, we had to pack all IMG-20190715-WA0007our stuff into the cars. 3 cars with 5 people each and then all the camping gear, you can imagine how packed the cars were. We actually had to play Tetris with all the stuff we had to take with us. At around 11am we were finally able to hit the road. It took us a while to get to Vargas Island, but after two car rides, a ferry ride and a trip with a water taxi we finally managed to get to the Island. The sun started to set, and we had to hurry a little bit to build the tents and to get the fire started and then it was time for our first dinner on Vargas Island. We ate burgers, which were really tasty and after that we made some S’mores as you have to when you are going camping. IMG-20190714-WA0020

The next day we just relaxed, played some volleyball and discovered the island a bit more. We ate Pancakes and burritos as snacks in between and then hot dogs for dinner. By now you may have noticed we had a lot of food. Time passed and after the sun set it was time for our last night on the island. It was fantastic. Our own private little beach party was really something no one will ever forget. On Sunday we took the water taxi back to Tofino and spend the rest of the day there. Some of us went surfing, the others just ate lunch and had a look at Tofino. Sadly, every weekend has to end, and it was time for us to head back to Vancouver.

We were all super tired when we got back, but we are all back safe and sound.

It was a weekend to remember!

See you at the next PUB NiGHT at The Beaver!

What to do on the weekend ?

Hello boys and girls!

Another week is over, so we will check out what is going on in Vancouver this weekend. It seems that the weather will not be so good (Saturday cloudy/sunny, Sunday rain), but this would not stop our activities.

All of you should know, that there is the Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival from Friday, June 21 to Sunday, June 23. The huge three-day event will take place around the creek at Concord Pacific Place, Creekside, and of course, in the waters.  The city´s biggest Dragon Boat celebration will also feature live music, entertainment, food, shopping, family fun, and local artisans.  It is definitely worth a visit! There will be no entry fee.

In addition to that the International Jazz Festival 2019 takes place this weekend in Downtown Vancouver. If you are interested in Jazz music, you should come to the Robson Square. The festival lasts two days, namely on the 22nd and 23rd June. You don´t have to pay for a lot of concerts. On both days different musicians are going to perform between 12pm and 9pm. To see the exact entry-free concert program, look at the website www.vancouversbestplaces.com .

Finally I want to remind you of our INTERNeX event on Sunday. We have planned a Barbecue at the Spanish Banks Beach. If you look at the current weather report, there will be rain on Sunday. And a Barbecue in the rain is definitely not fun.

Due to that we will go out for Burger eating all together. We reserved a table on Sunday, the 23rd June at the White Spot (405 Dunsmuir St, Vancouver, BC V6B 1X4) at 6pm.

We would be very happy if a lot of you come along for eating burgers with us. 48002939878_390603280c_o.jpeg

Those who have already paid for the BBQ can either pick up their money in the INTERNeX office or get it back at the dinner on Sunday.

Enjoy your weekend☺

PuB NiGHT Review: Malone’s

2017-11-22 20.56.54

There we are, in the back of Malone’s, sitting at a long table with everybody. And even more people kept coming. Great to see so many people are showing up at the pub nights. After all the hungry people ate their burgers and pizza, we enjoyed the nice cocktails or one of the many special beers. Of course we ended up in the Metropole for some karaoke.

Malone’s is a big pub, but somehow always has a cozy feeling. With 38 different taps there is a beer for everyone. For the people who don’t like craft beers, Malone’s offers also a lot of cocktails. Everyday they have a special on the beer/cocktail of the day.

Hope you all had as fun as much I did and hope to see you all Saturday morning for our trip to Seattle!

Pub Night Review

Yesterday we went to the Mill near Waterfront at Coal Habour Centre. The Mill is famous for their big outdoor patio, were we luckily also had a seat.

We met at 7pm at the Mill and we were seated on the outdoor patio with a beautiful view over North Vancouver. There was a little plaza in front of us with small water fountains. Not only serves the mill many different drinks, such as the nice sangrias, but also the food is phenomenal. I tried the NY cheesecake with strawberry topping, also pizza, salmon burger and fudge cake were ordered. If you didn’t had time to come to the pub night last night, don’t worry, the mill is open 7 days a week!

The Victoria Trip is coming up, so don’t forget to sign up before Friday 18th July 3pm!

We will leave Vancouver at 7am and will take the sky train and bus to the ferry terminal from were we will go to Vancouver Island! Victoria is the capital of BC and very famous for they lovely flowers all over town. WE will stay in the HI-Hostel for a night and visit the Canoe brew pub for lunch and will go to the Spinnaker for dinner. For more details about the trip click here or here. Tag along for this great mini-holiday to Victoria!

On Sunday we have a distillery tour planned for you. This tour will take place on Granville Island and will take 40 minutes. In these 40 minutes you will learn more about the distillation process and afterwards we can taste some spirits. The tour cost $10 p.p and will start at 1pm. Pub Night Review

Yesterday was our favorite day of the week again, which does not include Saturday and Sunday of course. We had again a super nice pub night at the Cambie.

We actually planned to have our pub night at the beach, but since it was pretty windy outside we decide to go to the Cambie instead. The Cambie is nice pub, which has long tables and you can even sit outside! As usually our pub night started at 7pm. We were lucky enough the get one of the tables outside, so we could enjoy the sun a little longer. We ordered some food and drinks, I definitely recommend the burgers there however this time I went for a caesar salad which is also delicious. After a while it got a chilly outside so we went inside to continue to Pub Night.

We had a lot of laughs last night and we are all exiting for the summer months and the fun stuff you can do while you are here in the summer. For those we do not join us this weekend to the rafting trip, we would recommend you to go for a hike near Vancouver, maybe Grouse Grind?, and afterwards you can relax on the beach. Or maybe rent a bike for a day and go around Stanley park and bring some lunch so you can have a little break on one of the nice beaches.

We hope you enjoyed the Pub Night yesterday and we will see you on the Rafting Trip
