Reminder: International Dinner

The international dinner will take place on Saturday the 5th of April in the INTERNeX office at 7:00pm and we hope you all will join us. We are located in 88 West Pender Street at the International Mall. You have enough from Fries and Burgers and all the american food? Than cook or bake a traditional food from your home country and share it with us. The idea from the international dinner is that we can taste food from different countries. We don’t expect that you cook a hole meal just something simple. If you could bring $1 this night, we can provide you with plates, cutlery and etc.. Since we are located in the Mall, we are not allowed to drink alcoholic drinks but we can go afterwards to a after-dinner-drink somewhere else.

If you want to taste my german Kaiserschmarn than click here to join the event.

See you all on Wednesday for our PuB NiGHT @the Pint at 7:00pm!

International Dinner

The fondest memories are made gathered around the table, so join us for our international dinner on April 5th.

Since we landed in Vancouver, we had a lot of burgers, sushi and fries. So it is time to step back from all the burgers and fries and eat some home-made traditional meals. Every country or culture has some food which is very typical or traditional for them, so go in to the kitchen and make that delicious meal for your international friends and they will make some delicious food for your.
The dinner will take place on the 5th of April at 7pm in the INTERNeX office, which is located on 88 West Pender street in the International Mall. We do have a small microwave to heat up your food. We do not expect you to cook a huge meal, just something small and traditional, however if you like to cook or bake a whole meal, we do not mind! If you could bring 1$ that night, we can provide you with plates, cutlery and cups. Since we are located in a mall we are NOT allowed to have alcoholic drinks during the dinner, so please do not bring any alcohol to the office. After the dinner we can go for an after-dinner-drink to the Bismarck, which is just a minute walk from the office.

We hope to see you on Saturday April 5th for a nice dinner at the office

INTERNeX Canada: Smart Saver Vancouver – The Famous Warehouse!

Want cheap food, but are too lazy to cook at home? The Famous Warehouse is one of my favorite places to grab a quick bite and is often frequented by INTERNeX-ers. First of all, you can’t really go wrong with pub food.

Secondly, everything on the menu is $4.95 – burgers with fries or soup, salads, wings in many flavours, fish tacos, spaghetti with meat sauce and more! You name it and its $4.95.

Well, technically $5.54 with tax (and I know this because Irene and I just went yesterday for lunch!) and $6 with tip.

I don’t think you can do better than this, unless you go to Mcdonald’s, but that’s kind of boring and you can’t have a beer to go with your burger!

Even better on Wednesday’s, they have $0.30 wings and Tuesday is all you can eat tacos for $7!

They have decent portions and though it is not the most luxurious food, you cannot beat the price.

Seeing their original location at Granville is always, always busy with line-ups, they just recently opened a new one on Hastings. So go check it out next time you are craving some delicious greasy food and let me know what you think!

Where?

INTERNeX Canada: Highlights of the Week

Having Monday off for Canadian Thanksgiving holiday has made this week fly by so fast. Another reason was that it was jam packed with so much to do, so let’s take a look!

Thanksgiving Dinner: The week started off with a delicious turkey dinner at The Irish heather with about 20 of you. Most of us have never had turkey so it was interesting to see all your reactions. It was nice to see so many new (and old) faces and the dessert and beer were a bonus. We were stuffed.

Pivo Pub Night: Who doesn’t love burger and beers? It was definitely a great night in getting to know you all and just relax with everyone, even if we only had two days of work. Won`t you join us next week?

Whistler: Even if you aren’t at Whistler with us this weekend, you should still check out what Irene has to say about the beautiful parks and trails Whistler has.  It’s more than just a mountain for skiing and snowboarding. I think I might even try a little bit of bungee jumping tomorrow if I don’t get too scared!

I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Halloween is coming up, are you excited? I am desperately looking for ideas for a Halloween costume, but I’m always horrible in coming up with one. Do you have any ideas yet?

Cheers,

Queenie

How was your weekend?

Hey guys, I hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather yesterday! My weekend was absolutely awesome! As some of you may already know; I am from the Netherlands! This Saturday there was a huge party in my country, because it was the queen’s birthday. You can probably compare it to Canada Day here. When it is Queensday in the Netherlands everyone is dressing up in orange (our national color) and we are celebrating the queen’s birthday in every city of Holland! Here is a picture to give you an idea…

Since I and some other people in my house are Dutch, we had to celebrate this of course!! 😀 So, on Friday night a bunch of Dutchies went to the Roxy’s and celebrated Queensnight together. Most of them were of course wearing orange clothing and drinking Dutch beer!

On Saturday we had to wake up really early in the morning, because some INTERNeX candidates and I were going to make a boat trip! We woke up at 6 in the morning to go all the way to Deep Cove, where the boat was located. It was pretty good weather and we were sitting on the front part of the boat in the sun. We had a beautiful view, fresh air, some drinks and music. It was a perfect day and the experience was amazing!
We saw an amazing waterfall which you can only access by boat! The owner of the boat had a BBQ on this boat, so for lunch we made delicious burgers! Unfortunately the rain kind of ruined our lunch, but it couldn’t ruin our day anymore!  It was a really unique boat trip and also a little bit a farewell for Bart, because he will be leaving us this Tuesday!

On Sunday I had a nice relaxing day. Finally the weather was so good that I’ve been outside the whole day, just lying in the sun with some of my housemates! I even got a little sun burn – that is how beautiful the weather was on Sunday!!

Now I am curious how your weekend was! Tell us by leaving a comment :D!!

Have a good beginning of the week!!

Cheers,
Claudia
