PuB NiGHT Announcement

And it is time for PuB NiGHT again! This time we will combine it with a little shopping before we go for a drink – or two, or three, or… As our big Halloween party is this Friday, we thought we show you where you can get some cheap stuff to dress up. Meeting point is the thrift store Value Village at 1820 E Hastings St at 6:30 pm (MAP). There we will indulge in some crazy shopping and all of us will have the possibility to try something out. Maybe get some final touches for an already decided on costume, or find something which does not take a lot of effort and is still a costume for the big party. You probably have heard of Value Village, check out this video

Afterwards, we will go to The Reef and finally have our drinks 😉 By the way, this is a bar people under age can enter, so come on people under 19, come and join us tomorrow! And for everybody who does not want to tack along for the costume shopping and just want to meet us there for drinks: Our reservation there is for 8:15 pm and the address is 1018 Commercial Drive, The Reef (MAP).

The bar itself is in the Caribbean and its menus sparkle with the potential of lunch, brunch and dinner plates inspired by the styles and tastes of the Caribbean. Vibrant colors, tropical plants, and kitschy signs bring you back to days spent skipping geometry in Caribbean boarding school, creating a casual, fun atmosphere.

The specials you can get are:

Draught beer: Pint $5.50, glass $5, pitcher $19

Most cocktails: $7

Snacks: Several things in between $4 – $10

So come and join us for another great night out!

Annika

What to do on the weekend

Hi people!

With another weekend ahead, it is time for the famous „what to do on the weekend“ blog post!

It is suitable for all of our candidates: those, who are about to leave soon, those who are in the peak time of their stay and of course our newly arrived candidates who need some tips!

Here we go!

~~~ WHISTLER – Kokanee Crankworx Freeride Mountain Bike Festival~~~
Once you are in Vancouver, you HAVE to take a weekend off and explore famous Whistler, which is just 90min located North of Vancouver. No matter when you go – may it be Summer or Winter – there is always something to do! In Summer you can go hiking, rafting, even skiing and (what a perfect transition!) mountain biking!
During Whistler BC’s nine-day Kokanee Crankworx festival, the dirt-adorned put the revel in the free ride mountain biking revolution, bending physics and blowing minds with their tail-whipping back-flipping hard-charging ways. For the eighth year running, the venues of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park serve as modern day Colosseum, masterpieces of stunt and trail engineering, forum for the ultimate in gladiator contests and public spectacle.
In less than a decade, Kokanee Crankworx has become the authoritative free ride festival, a supercharged magnet for the world’s best riders, the definitive domestication of dirt in the service of epic endurance, supreme flow, monster air and gravity-fuelled mountain biking. The best mountain bike athletes in the world know that when gravity beckons, you simply say, yes mistress. I’m coming. So make sure you do.
~~~VANCOUVER – Chinatown Night Market ~~~

A beautiful night market, filled with traditional art crafts, ethnic food and fashionable gifts. You can find booths with all kinds of different merchandises on sale including creative gifts and decor, modern electronics, popular music CD’s, VCD’s, DVD’s, fashionable clothes and delicious snacks.

So, just in case you are bored on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night…head down to Chinatown and visit the night market between 6.30pm-11.00pm @Keefer/Main Street.

~~~ TORONTO – Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival ~~~
The three-week (July 12 -August 1)Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival Toronto is an explosion of Caribbean music, cuisine, revelry as well as visual and performing arts. Within 44 years it has become a major international event and the largest cultural festival of its kind in North America. The great metropolis of Toronto will come alive as the city dives into pulsating rhythms and melodies of Soca, Reggae, Chutney, Hip Hop, Calypso, Steel Pan and Brass Bands. This extraordinary colourful exhibition will surely bring a smile to everybody’s face!
I hope our tips for this weekend will keep you busy!
Have a good one! 🙂
Cheers,
Ziska
