Review: Pub Night @ Blarney Stone

Yesterday we went to the Irish pub Blarney Stone for our weekly pub night. This evening Blarney Stone were inviting people to join in for their weekly Trivia Night. So what is a Trivia Night. Well, it’s quite simple. It’s a quiz in general common knowledge. So you really have to have a great knowledge within a lot of different subjects. We were questioned about everything from 80s and 90s music to the names American presidents and the most common ingredients on an Australian pizza. Not always all too easy but definitely very entertaining.

Even more funny was the heads or tails quiz. Very simple. A coin was flipped and those who were able to guess if it was going to be heads or tails would go to the next round. The winners would get the honour of… dancing in front of the rest of the onlooking crowd at the pub. Hilarious! And of course we also had a bit of something to drink and eat.

Thanks to all of you who joined in for this entertaining and great pub night at Blarney Stone.

Review: Halloween shopping

Last Saturday we went to Boo La La Costumes in North Vancouver to do the obligatory Halloween costume shopping. We met outside the store at 3pm. Inside the store was of course all kinds of crazy costumes… you could dress up as a superhero, a celebrity/an idol, a beer mug or even a dart board. There really was almost no limit to what you could wear for Halloween. Even the staff were wearing costumes and were painted in their faces trying to look scary. The staff members were really kind and helped us with any wishes or ideas that we had for our outfits. We had a lot of fun trying out different costumes before finally deciding on what to wear for Halloween. You can have a look at the hilarious pictures here.

Thanks to all of you who made this Halloween costume shopping awesome! And don’t forget to show off your great costumes for our Halloween party at Blarney Stone on Friday, October 31st. Those of you who didn’t have the chance to participate in our shopping are of course also more than welcome to join the party… The bigger the group the better. You can sign up for the event here. Remember, it’s only 10$ for the entrance, and for sure it’ll be a party like no other!

Review: Thanksgiving dinner

Yesterday we went to the pub the Irish Heather for a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. We meet up inside the pub where we could take shelter from the pouring rain outside… Finally the rain came to Vancouver and the city lived up to its reputation as Raincouver. But the rain definitely didn’t take the good mood away from the crowd gathering inside the Irish Heather. Before getting seated we had the chance to have a little chat until the chef rang the bell and the dinner was served. Everybody was seated at one long table, which made it possible to have a chat with people you never met before.

The dinner was really great! It included mashed potatoes, and a pie stuffed with turkey and other kinds of nice fillings. And on top we also got beers specifically selected for the turkey dinner. Really nice to get some nice food in good company. It was good to hear that you guys are interested in the Portland trip. Remember that you still have a chance to sign up for this awesome trip. Just visit the INTERNeX office to sign up and pay in cash for the trip… we’re open Monday to Friday from 10am to 6pm. Also remember that we’re warming up to Halloween with our costume shopping next Saturday. Look for more information here. And to finish off the month of October we’re dressing up in our costumes for a Halloween party on Friday, October 31st. Nobody really voted for a preferred place but it’s our feeling that you’re more into the cheaper alternative… for sure this will be great too! We will find a place to go.

You can see a few more pictures from the Thanksgiving dinner here.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

INTERNeX PuB NiGHT

Ummm so snow in the forecast!? In the middle of march!? Can anyone say global warming lol. It’s strange how winter seems to becoming in so late i feel like i should be going into hibernation soon. I’m more of a summer girl so I’m not down with snow. But there is something to look forward too…1)INTERNeX PuB NiGHT at The Blarney Stone and 2) St. Paddy’s Day woohoo. So this annual festival celebrates Saint Patrick, one of the most commonly recognized of the patron of saints of Ireland. This event is generally celebrated on the 17th of March and even though it is widely celebrated world wide and is considered to be a national holiday of Ireland, we wont be getting a day off from work for this one. Too bad i know! But that doesn’t you have to miss out on the festivities. You can start the week off right by joining us at the Blarney Stone (216 Carrall Street, Gastown) where you can eat, drink and party like the Irish! Home to one of the biggest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the city, you can enjoy the festive joys of green beer, a full Irish menu and Irish dancers both day and night. So originally the color associated with St. Patrick was actually blue, not green. However, over the years the color green and its association with this day has grown so let’s do it like the Irish and at least wear one green item…but the more the better really! So gotta run but I really hope to see you all out next Monday night at 8pm at the Blarney Stone Irish PuB.
