Vancouver Fashion Week Contest #1

A Recap of Vancouver Fashion Week Contest #1

As Vancouver Fashion Week is inching closer, there are fun and fashion-orientated contests to challenge your inner fashionista.  The first contest was for all Vancouver Fashionistas!

Let’s take a recap of Vancouver Fashion Week’s two contests that allowed you to play with fashion!

There was a contest for the “classy and fabulous”.

What does the word classy mean to you?

Being classy does not mean being stuck-up, but dressed in a refined and dignified manner.  There’s a movie on Coco Chanel, where she is portrayed as a confident woman, with a forward-thinking notion on what fashion for women means.  For Chanel, clothing is meant to accentuate a woman’s body, but most importantly, it is meant to be comfortable.

Participants took pictures of themselves and chose their classiest photo and post it on Facebook for their chance to win a pair of tickets to a Vancouver Fashion Week show!

Get Freaky With It!

If you are a daredevil who wants to unleash your inner fashionista, then those participants opted for this “Fashion Loves a Freak” contest.  They picked a crazy outfit and pose in all its outrageousness.  Just a reminder that this outfit has to still be appropriate, meaning it should be tastefully avante-garde fashion.  They were encouraged to check out some magazines for inspiration on how models dress in the type of fashion that you don’t normally find in your grandmother’s closet, that pushes the limits, yet doesn’t cling to your body in an unflattering and gaudy manner.
