Highlights of the month June

July welcomed us with sunshine and Canada day, it’s going to be a beautiful month! However before we really start July lets see what we did in June and we are going to do in July.

We started June with a White Water Rafting / Camping trip to Chilliwack with the one and only Lee. He picked us op on Saturday afternoon and we drove down to Chilliwack. There we set up our tents and enjoyed the night. The next morning it was time to go rafting and after an amazing time on the water we came back to the camp for lunch and a last game of volleyball.

On the 21th of June we went to the Pint to watch the soccer game Germany against Ghana. We had a nice little brunch before the game started and afterwards most of us decided to enjoy the sun by either going to the beach or for a bike ride around Stanley Park.

We ended the month with a Pub&Club night where we also sadly had to say goodbye to our intern Daniela. We will miss here, but we are sure she will have a blast traveling and wish here all the best for the future.

The first of July will of course be celebrated with joining the parade and watching the fireworks. On the 12th of July we will relax at the Khatsahlano street party with music performances, little markets and food trucks. On the 20th of July we will to for a hike at the Grouse Grind and on the last weekend of July it is time for our monthly overnight trips. This time to Victoria.

As you just heard we have many fun activities planned for you in July, so make sure you check Facebook regular or come to our pub nights to get the newest information about the activities. (ps: our next pub night will be on the beach again!)

We hope you enjoyed our little video and let us know what your favorites were in June and what you would like to do while you are here!

Time to say goodbye…

Today it’s my last day at the INTERNeX office and I will end my 18-week internship at INTERNeX. Also that’s gonna be my final blog and I want to thank everybody for this awesome time here in Vancouver. During my 18-week internship I did awesome trips and activities but of course I also learned a lot of things, which are useful for my studies back home. That’s why I want to say a big THANK YOU to Tim and Simon. And of course thank you to Alexandra, Ole and well how can I forget him CRAZY Alex, you guys made my days in the office 🙂

During my time here in Vancouver I saw a lot’s of amazing places such as Whistler, the breathtaking Rockies, the surfer’s paradise Tofino and had an adventure trip to Chilliwack for White Water Rafting. Also the hike’s here around Vancouver are amazing, the Chief, Bowen Island and of course the Grouse Grind, which you have to do while you here in Vancouver.

It will be really strange to leave Vancouver, because right now it’s like a second home for me. All the amazing people I met here made this time one of my best expierences so far.  After my holidays in the USA I will start my last year at the Hochschule Munich but I’m motivated and ready to go for this last year and afterwards of course I start traveling to see more from the world.

I want to say thanks and good-bye to everyone who I met during my stay here, I had one of the best 18-weeks here, THANK YOU!!

Goodbye, Auf wiedersehen, Servus, Pfi’a de 🙂

Cheers,

Danie

PS: Join me for my last Club & PuB NiGHT at the Cambie tonight!

White Water Rafting Review

What an amazing weekend!! We hope you had so much fun as we had. On Saturday the 7th of June was THE day were our awesome rafting trip started. Our crazy tour guide Lee from WestTrek picked us at 2pm with a sweet van on Waterfront station up and we made our way to Chilliwack. On our way we stopped of course to get some snacks and drinks (a lot of drinks ;)) for the campfire that night.

We arrived in Chilliwack around 4pm and after we setting up our tents (which mostly we girls did!!), close to a big camp fire place, we started playing volleyball, which was pretty fun. Of course we started already drinking, so you can imagine how funny the volleyball match was. At around 6pm our dinner was ready. There was a buffet with good food, we enjoyed the food while sitting outside in the sun. After dinner we went straight back to the volleyball court and had a exiting match agains the yellow team (high school kids) which of course we won ;).

After the beach volleyball match it was time to start the campfire. We all gathered around the campfire. We spend the whole night drinking, kind of singing, looking at the stars and sharing crazy stories and watch crazy Alex falling down 🙂

The next morning we woke up at around 8am in the morning for a great breakfast with pancakes, eggs and coffee. After a safety talk, which made everybody scared as hell, it was finally time to go Rafting!!! They brought us to the river in old retro school busses and we went on the river with 3 boats with in total about 25 people. There were lots of crazy rapids and the surrounding was stunning! After rafting for about an hour we stopped and dragged our boats on shore. We hiked up to an amazing waterfall and walked through the waterfall, it was breath taking! When we got back in our boats and on the river the rapids kept getting bigger and faster. Three hours later we got back to camp, but it was not over yet! For the real Die Hards there was the possibility to go back on the river again and experience the biggest rapids. Of course all the INTERNeX candidates were up for that. We went back on the river, it was insane! The river was super wild, awesome!

After we came back to the camp our lunch was already waiting for us. We had a last volleyball match and than we made our way back to Vancouver. We arrived in Vancouver around 4pm. Of course we have all the picture on Flickr.

I hope you guys had so much fun as we had 🙂

We hope we will see you on Wednesday at our weekly Pub Night @ the Doolin’s.

Highlights of the Month June 2014

With June beginning it is time to review the month of May and preview June and of course we do this in style… with a video.

We started the month of May with a visit to the extreme air park in Richmond. It was so much fun there if you did not had the chance to join us it is definitely worth going there! On the 9th of May it was time to do some relaxing activity with a visit to the cheesecake etc. Cheesecake etc is famous for their cheesecake and is only open at night. It is a really nice cozy restaurant and the cheesecake is delicious, afterwards we went to the Doolin’s for some drinks. In the mid of May we had our monthly overnight stay in Tofino. We went to Tofino for three days and had such a great time, we went surfing, whale watching, bear watching, kayaking and we had a little campfire near the hotel. After the Tofino it was time to go partying again in Vancouver with a Pub & Club night at The Pint.

In June we will go White Water Rafting in Chilliwack with Lee. In the second weekend we will go for a bike ride around Stanley Park and have nice little rest at one of the beaches. On the 21st of June it is time to support our German soccer team with some drinks and food. We will end the month of June with a Pub & Club night were we also sadly have to see goodbye to Daniela, so make sure you are there! And of course we will have our weekly pub nights on Wednesday’s so keep your eyes out on Facebook.

We hope you enjoyed May and will enjoy June, see you at the activities!
