How was the weekend?

It was long, but felt so short. 😀

On Saturday INTERNeX went on a little hike in Lynn Canyon, over the Suspension Bridge, through the lush forest, along the river and multiple waterfalls. It was a hot day, but the trees gave us a nice cool shade, so it wasn’t half bad. Another thing that cooled us down was the natural pool with its refreshing water, some just dipped their feet in, others were full on cliff jumping! Tim and Daniel had so much fun jumping that they stayed longer while the rest of us went on with the hike. On our way we saw more people cliff jumping from a different spot, it looked quite dangerous, so we were holding our breath for the jump. Fortunately nothing happened! The guys seemed to have experience. I could never imagine jumping into the water from such a height. Maybe because I’m afraid of heights? What about you? Are you into the thrill and adventure? Would you do cliff jumping? After the adrenaline kick from watching them jump, we had a hard time getting up the last couple of stairs before ending our hike, maybe because I told everyone there were no more stairs coming, but then oooppssiieee, surprise, more stairs! In the end they forgave me (I think) and we went back downtown. I don’t know about you, but I always feel weird being back in the city after a day in nature. It’s so calm and peaceful, versus so fast and exciting.

Exciting was also the Pride Parade on Sunday. We met on Davie street and walked all the way down to English Bay where we found a great spot to watch the parade. Again, it was a hot day but we had some trees covering us with shade and the firefighters in the parade were sprinkling everyone with water which was super refreshing. The display went on for 2-3 hours and it was so fun cheering everyone on, seeing all the different groups showing colour and celebrating diversity! There was lots of music and performances, good vibes and great people. We started collecting stickers, buttons, and other things they gave away. After a while people went and grabbed some food, while others went to the after-party at Sunset Beach. There were food trucks, two stages with live music and other booths around the area, the perfect set up for an awesome day.

I would tell you more, but this week is really busy at INTERNeX, so I’ll stop writing for today. I have to introduce you to a lot of newcomers on Thursday, so keep posted! 😉

Lynn Canyon

Last weekend the sun was shining in Vancouver and we went on a little trip to a beautiful nature park called Lynn Canyon, located in North Vancouver. The park was amazing with a lot of hiking trails, waterfalls and the famous Lynn Canyon suspension Bridge.

 

After walking over the bridge we went exploring the park by hiking and searched for some black bears in the forest.  Unfortunately we didn’t saw any bears, but hopefully next time 🙂 On our way through the park, we saw people jumping in the water from cliffs and Holy Jesus, the rescue theme was in action.  After a relaxing hike it was time for coffee and snack at the delicious Lynn Canyons Coffee shop.  It was a hot day so we ended up bathing in the cool water. What a perfect day in a beautiful Canadian nature.

Review River Rafting Big Wolf Tour

oh boy, oh boy was this trip AMAZING! Sunday at 1 pm we took off in Lee’s van called Big Mama Wolf. We drove on Canada’s longest highway and listened to a lot of awesome songs. After a quick stop at a supermarket we arrived at the Chilliwack River Rafting campsite. Despite the burning sun, we got our tents up almost without a sweat. Then it was time to enjoy the nice weather, some decided to take a swim and others were enjoying a cool drink at the beautiful river. Later on we played games such as beer pong and beach volley ball. For dinner our tour guide, Lee made us some delicious BBQ burgers and after our stomachs got full we partied until very late. One of the owners of the campsite played songs on his guitar and we all danced and sang along to his tunes. Around the bonfire, we made new friends from Ireland and Australia and had an amazing time.

Early next day, it was time for breakfast. On the menu were sausages, American pancakes and eggs. After breakfast we got on the bus and drove up to the river where our boats were waiting. We split up into groups of 6 people and in the boat our river rafting guides gave us a safety lesson before sailing out on the river. Sailing over the rapids was a true challenge but was still exciting and so much fun.  Our paddling skills were definitely put to the test! Half way trough we sailed to the bottom of a 5 meters tall cliff climbed up and jumped back into the river.
After a while we got back into our boats and sailed towards the next rapids. The final rapid was called The Rollercoaster and was the wildest one of them all! The water splashed into our faces and all over the boat but everyone survived.  After the river rafting we headed back to the campsite for lunch and packed our tents and bags.

It’s Sunday and guess what… it’s time for Smart Saver.

If you want a bit of thrilling entertainment, just go to watch cliff jumping at Lynn Valley. This is completely free of charge, yep that’s right 0$! During the summer months Lynn Valley has become a popular place for daredevils to jump off the cliffs into the cold water. There are several other locations where you can watch these daredevils, for instance Lions Bay or “Granny’s Cove” in Capilano Canyon.
