Smart Saver Vancouver

It’s Wednesday, which is the day for Smartsaver! Vancouver is pretty expensive most of the times, but you can save money!

7699686936_3ca42fbb6a_oComing months will be full of sports. FC Whitecaps already started their season and the BC Lions will start soon! If you want to save money on the tickets of the games then there are two options. First of all, Discover Canada Tours and Westtrek offer discounted tickets for almost all games. Secondly, if you go to the Tourism Vancouver Visitors’ Centre on the day of the game you can also save money! They offer “ Tickets Tonight”, which are half-priced tickets on sports games that evening.

Now that the weather is getting better it is time to do some travelling! Boltbus is a bus company which can take you to lots of places in Canada. The bus company offers $1 tickets, but these tickets are really hard to get though. They offer at least one $1 ticket for every trip that they offer. However, the tickets are sold randomly and mostly within the first seats sold. So if you want to get a $1 ticket you have to be on top of their schedule to even have a chance.

Also as the weather is getting better go do free activities in the city! Hiking in one of the parks, going to the beaches or walk through the neighbourhoods of Vancouver can be lots of fun and is free!

Hope to see all of you guys tonight at PuB NiGHT!

The Amazing Rockies Trip by Janel

I had an amazing weekend in the Rockies!! Thanks to Discover Canada Tours and everyone that came with us on this trip!!

The first day started of in the rain in Vancouver, but as soon as we got on the bus and drove out of the city the weather got a lot nicer! We spent a lot of time on the bus on Friday, but got to see a lot of beautiful places. Some of us were sleeping and Danielle, Christina, Kerstin and me started playing a game. Our first few stops were just small stops to go to the washroom and get some food. 17965285_1389504374419265_887667184_nWhen we arrived in Kamloops we went to the BC Wildlife Park. It was great to see all those animals that I had never seen before, like grizzly bears, black bears, cougars and coyotes. After the park we drove to our resort. It was an amazing hotel next to the beautiful Shuswap Lake. In the evening we started with a campfire and an amazing story from the first nations cultural host of the resort. He told us really interesting stories and I learned a lot more about the first nations. After the campfire we decided to do some drinks in our room. Almost the whole group came and our room was fully packed with 16 people. We played some games, told stories and were having lots of fun!!

On the second day it was hard to get up, because of the great evening we had together. After a powernap in the bus we were ready to go again! Our first sightseeing stop that day was Emerald Lake. The whole lake was still frozen and really beautiful. I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t fall through the ice in the lake, so that of course happened. But luckily I wasn’t the only one. After Emerald Lake we went to Lake 18049738_1714366851912092_272087587_oLouise, which was also still totally frozen. We walked on the ice to the other side of the lake to see a beautiful big frozen waterfall. The ice was really slippery and it was really difficult to not fall, but we all managed to get to the other side of the lake without falling. When we finally arrived in Banff, we checked into the hotel and went out for dinner right away. As we were with such a big group it was hard to find a restaurant where we could all fit, but we found one and had amazing dinner at Earls together. After dinner we went back to the hotel and again had some drinks in our room to get ready for the big party in Banff that night. We called cabs for 15 people and were at the club around 10:30. The club was really nice, we danced all night and had a great time with each other and the other people from our bus. We also met up with two other people from INTERNeX, who are living in Banff. It was amazing to see them again and we had lots of fun! 🙂 Some of us left earlier and some of us only slept around 2 hours, but we all had a great night!

The third day was the activity day. Some of us went on an ice walk, others went horse riding, skiing or slept in. I went horse riding in the morning. It was the best cure for my hangover to be outside in the fresh air. The bus drove us to the ranch and we got assigned some horses. It was an one-hour tour through the woods and next to a river. It was really beautiful. During the whole trip we had amazing views. After the horseback riding we had lunch at the Spaghetti Factory. Then the bus picked us up there and brought us to the Banff Gondola. 18012764_1388526431183726_2098698393_oAlmost everybody from our group went up the mountain in the gondola. The sun was shining and there were almost no clouds, which made the view amazingly beautiful. We saw all the mountains around Sulphur Mountain and went to the second peak to have an even better view! After a big day of activities we all went back to the bus and started our drive to our hotel in Golden. We had dinner and got drinks again for the campfire. Around 7.30 PM the campfire started. The whole group went to the campfire and we all had lots of fun with the tour guides, bus driver and the other people from the busses. We played some music, played a game and sang Dutch and German songs at the same time. At 1AM everybody started to feel tired and we went to bed.

The last day it was a lot of driving. We stopped a few times for lunch and toilet breaks and had one sightseeing stop at Craigellachie. At Craigellachie the last spike of the railway across Canada was set. It always was a golden spike, but as a lot of people wanted to steal it they removed it and got a metal spike coloured gold. On this last day we watched two movies in the bus and played a game called two truths and one lie. When we arrived in Vancouver it was of course again raining and we all went home immediately to get some sleep.

Thank you guys for this amazing weekend! I am never going to forget it!!

Review: PuB NiGHT at Mahony & Sons

Yesterdays PuB NiGHT was amazing once again! We even needed to create an L shape table because so many people of you showed up, which was great! Thank you all for coming!

The PuB NiGHT was at Mahony & Sons at Canada Place, which is a really nice traditional Irish pub. We enjoyed the experience there, but you can find the other 2 pubs at False Creek and the UBC Campus. Mahony & Sons also has great deals, like wine Wednesday. On this day all the wine bottles are halve price, which makes it a really sweet deal for us since all our PuB NiGHTS are on Wednesdays.

It was also not a regular PuB NiGHT, since we had guests from Discover Canada Tours, who 17554142_10155140206567103_5741155944120773681_nwere invited to inform you all about our big Rockies trip! After some information about the Banff gondola, where to look for cute bears and the amazing hot springs, it was time to give away the prices! We hope everybody enjoys their new green sunglasses on this beautiful shiny day. The sunglasses where not even the best part yet, since we also had other great prices to give away too. We want to congratulate Suzanne and Sol with their free Gondola ride in Banff and Nicola with her tickets for the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Thank you all for joining again and if you still want to join us on the Rockies trip, please stop by the office today since it is the last day you can sign up!

INTERNeX Canada: Picture of the Week

For our “Picture of the Week” Lies and Katie captured a real Canadian motif in Whistler! On their trip with Discover Canada Tours they took this awesome picture on top of the Whistler Mountain. A gondola takes you to these incredible heights and gives you this amazing view!

INTERNeX Canada: How was your weekend?

This weekend was a very busy one for the INTERNeX PR Team! Katie and myself were given the great opportunity to go on a Fam Trip with Discover Canada Tours. The trip included a day in Whistler followed by one night of camping in Lytton.

In Whistler we visited the Squamish & Lil’wat Cultural Centre to learn more about the two different Native heritages and how they have come together over the years. I definitely received a whole new insight into these two cultures and for those who are interested I would certainly recommend it! The afternoon followed with the peak 2 peak gondola rides to the top of Whistler Mountain and then across to Blackcomb Mountain. The views were incredible and we really felt as if we were on top of the world as the mountains stretched further than the eye could see. I even saw my first little black bear from one of the gondola’s!

Then it was time to make our way over to Lytton. A beautiful desert town about 3 hours from Whistler with some very scenic routes on the way. After camp was set  up at the HYAK camping grounds we received  a delicious BBQ dinner and eventually proceeded to the warm campfire where we ended our night quite early in order to prepare us for the exciting rafting adventure in the morning.

Sunday morning was an unforgettable one. As Katie and I got all strapped up for the white water rafting on the Thompson River we had no idea what to expect. The water is currently at its highest level it has ever been and we were told the water and the rapids were extremely wild right now. It was incredibly fun and safe to say we made it out alive with big smiles on our faces 🙂 Pictures will be on our Flickr Page shortly.

To round-off an amazing trip we spent the afternoon at Hell’s Gate; the narrowest part of the Fraser River where the water is traveling at its fastest speed and the rapids are deadly.

It was a beautiful weekend, and for anyone else who is interested in taking part in Discover Canada Tours’ Rafting Trip to Lytton I would highly recommend it! For more information please visit their website.

Thank you so much to Discover Canada Tours for this amazing opportunity.

Cheers,

Lies & Katie

INTERNeX Canada: Sun Peaks Trip Review

Last weekend I went with Discover Canada Tours on an Amazing 2,5 day trip to Sun Peaks Ski Resort! I experienced the champagne powder on three different mountains with more than 120 runs! Furthermore there was a hot tub party, a clubnight, snowshoeing, great dinners, and of course lots of fun! On the 17th of February I would like to arrange this trip for INTERNeX!!

Hotel: Delta Lodge Resort
We overstayed in the beautiful Delta Lodge Hotel, located down the mountain and very close to the lifts. The hotel has some outdoor hot tubs and a outdoor swimming pool, with a gorgeous mountain view. I really enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub after a full day of snowboarding!
The room was beautiful with a nice view on the village and the mountains.

Snowboarding/Skiing
The Sun Peaks Resort is the best ski resort I have ever been, and it is the place to be for skiers and snowboarders! I love the dry campaign powder, all the runs, the friendly people on the mountain, and the fact that it is not a busy place. My favorite run was “The Sticks”, this was a green run with many islands of trees as you can see on the picture below. It was amazing to snowboard through the trees! I could to this run over and over!

Snow Shoeing
If you are not a skier/snowboarder, then there are plenty of other awesome winter activities such as Snow Shoeing. For me snow shoeing was a total new experience, and I was surprised how much fun it is to experience the area of Sun Peak while walking with snow shoes! We had a very friendly guide who showed us the best places with beautiful views. Halfway we had a break, and we had chance to drink delicious hot apple cider and to eat some cookies!

The village of Sun Peaks
The village of Sun Peaks looks very nice and offers everything you need. There is a night club, some bars, a supermarket, different restaurants, and some nice shops. I really liked the atmosphere in the village, the friendly people, and that people are skiing in the village from their hotel to the lift!

Click here to see all the pictures!

I would like to thanks Discover Canada Tours, and everyone who joined this trip!

Are you convinced that Sun Peaks is one of the ski resorts which you definitely have to visit? Yes? Join us on the weekend of Friday the 17th of February till the Sunday the 19th because then INTERNeX is going to Sun Peaks. For only $290 you can be part of this amazing trip! Send us an e-mail to make a reservation for this trip.

Details about this trip will be posted soon, so keep following us!

Cheers, Lydia
