PuB NiGHT Review: The Lamplighter

“But I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more, just to be the man who walks a thousand miles to fall down at your door …“ I still had these lyrics in mind when waking up this morning. Why this song? Of course, one of our favourite karaoke songs at PuB NiGHT!

Before all the crazy singing started, we spent a few hours in The Lamplighter, a pub in Gastown. They offer a broad range of drinks, so everybody could choose their favourite one. Everybody just settled in, when we heard a famous voice again “It’s time for some Bourbon Bingo!”. So, everybody got sheets and daubers (really cool pens to mark your numbers) and we played some rounds. This time, I was the lucky one who managed to get a round of shots for the INTERNeX gang.

Pub Night 1

The time passed by quickly while telling stories about Salt Spring Island, but also future plans were discussed. I am always happy to see some new faces at our table, as it was the case yesterday. No matter, if someone arrived yesterday or six months ago, there are always good talks. Since half of our PR-Team is leaving soon, many of you signed the Canadian flags of Mandy and Bart. What a nice souvenir for them!

A few hours later, it was time to say hello to our well-known karaoke DJ at the Met. The papers for desired songs were filled in fast and soon old and new teams had the chance to grab the microphone. As it was Bart’s last pub night, he gave again the best to entertain the pub with his all-time favourites. I am sure your heart will go on in Vancouver, even if you cannot sing in the Met in the next weeks.

I hope you enjoyed this night and I will see you all again next Wednesday!

Rockies Trip Spring Review II

The second morning was another early morning, we had breakfast at 7:45 and hat to be in the bus at 8:15. Too bad for our German boyband that they were just seconds too late, lucky for us that we did not have to sing. No worries the boyband did a great job in singing “Mamor Stein und Eisen bricht” and got some back up from the other Germans in the bus.

Our first stop of the day was at Mount Robson, the highest point in the Rockies and the second highest peak in British Columbia. We were luckily to see the top of the mountain for a couple of minutes before it disappeared in the clouds again. We shot some nice pictures and headed towards Jasper for a lunch break.

Jasper is a nice town, which get really crowed in the summer because it is so close to all the outdoor activities. Some of us stopped in the grocery store to get some food, others went into to a restaurant or walked down to Subway. After a short break and enjoying the sunshine it was time to get into to bus again and drive to our next stop.

The next stop was at the Athabasca Falls. This waterfall is not known because of its heights, but it is known for its force du to the large quantity of water falling into the gorge. It was a stunning view, especially the color of the water was very picturesque. After walking around the fall and seeing it form all different point we had to get back to the bus to drive to the Columbia Icefield.

The Columbia Icefield is one of the largest accumulations of ice and snow south of the Arctic Circle. We drove in a snow coach, which is especially made for this and there are only 24 of those buses, up to a snow field were the wind was blowing crazy and it was freezing could and of course we all were again prepared super good with or sneaker and thin jackets on! It was a great experience, but I think everybody was happy when we were back in the bus again.

Our next stops were at the Waterfowl Lake and Bow Lake before we ended our day in Banff. In Banff we stayed at the Mt. Royal Hotel and some of us went out for dinner, pizza, McDonalds, Steaks and Ribs were on the menu. Afterwards we went out to a pub for some pre-drinks before we headed out to the Night Club for some crazy dancing.

Stay tuned for the next Rockies review and do not forget to join the After-Rockies-Party by clicking here.

What was your favorite part of the second day?

INTERNeX Canada: HiGHLiGHTS of this week!

Hey guys, how is your weekend going? Here are some of the highlights for this week!

Last Saturday, we went up to Cypress for a day of skiing/snowboarding! It was a lot of fun but also exhausting after a couple of runs! Although we were all at different levels with our skiing/boarding skills, we all waited for each other so that no one would get left behind. Then we watched the fireworks show in the evening as we stood outside the lodge, which looked so pretty against the snowy hill. To finish the day, we stopped at the lookout on the way down the mountain to view the city lights!

Then on Wednesday, we went to the Blarney Stone for our pub night! It was tons of fun while we talked and drank. It was super awesome just getting to know the new members of our group as we all as catching up with every one.

Tomorrow, we will be heading down to Chinatown to watch the Chinese New Year parade! You don’t want to miss this awesome cultural event, because there’s going to be so many fun things to see, eat, and do! If you’re bored and you’re alone at home, you have no excuses but to come out! Check out our Facebook event page!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Cheers,

Flora

INTERNeX Canada: Pub Night Review @ Morrissey

Last night at the Morrissey pub, our awesome INTERNeX group gathered together to catch up, share some laughs, and have a few drinks. It was definitely great to see some people who we haven’t seen in awhile, and even some of the new members of our group made it! It was so much fun talking to them about what they have seen so far, their jobs, places they are going to see, and just listening to jokes and their stories.

If you haven’t been to the Morrissey,  you really should! Last night was actually the very first time I was there. The atmosphere was really great and we were seated right near the fireplace! The Morrissey has a very vintage, strange yet modern spin to their decor. For example, there’s a small metal looking bicycle hanging down from the ceiling and a knight statue standing on the side (which I thought was a bit scary)! But I loved the beautiful chandelier which made the pub look so cozy 🙂

If you were missing in action last night, come with us to Cypress this Saturday for a day of skiing/snowboarding! There will be great prices and special events going on that weekend on Cypress since it’s Family Day long weekend! For more information please visit our Facebook event page and of course, don’t forget to join by this Friday!

Cheers,

Flora
