A new addition to the PR-Team!

To those of you wondering who the new girl was on the Salt Spring Island trip, hi! It was me! Some of you already got to know me a little, however, I will introduce myself to those who did not and those who would like to get to know me a little better.

My name is Angy. I am 19 years old and from The Netherlands, yes, the flat country known for its tulips and windmills. I do not want to ruin your vision of the country, but I can confirm you do not see those everywhere you go. Truth is, when you visit the Netherlands, you will most likely see rain. And bikes. Lots of bikes (we need something to keep us in shape, right?!). Time to get back on topic.

I am a third-year International Leisure Management student at NHTV Breda. The first semester of this school year I went on an exchange to London, so I already experienced what it is like to live abroad. However, I had never been outside of Europe. Going to North America has been a dream of mine since I was little (yes, this tall Dutchie was short too, once upon a time) and when I heard I could do my 6-month practicum in Vancouver, I was more than happy. Living and working here will be a challenge, one that I am excited to take!

I cannot wait to discover all that INTERNeX and Vancouver itself have to offer and I hope you want to be part of my journey!

I am looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow at PuBNiGHT at the Lamplighter!

– Angy

A fresh breeze in the PR-Team

Who is that small girl sitting in the INTERNeX office? It is me, Kerstin. I am now joining Bart and Mandy as a member of the PR-Team. Some of you, I already met this weekend on the ice or in the Yale Saloon. For the rest, let me introduce myself.

kerstin

I am 22 years old and currently studying International Leisure Management in Breda, an awesome city in the Netherlands. This practicum at INTERNeX is part of my study program. And no, I am not Dutch – I am German, from a city called Aachen in the western part of Germany. I really do like the Dutchies, but I decided that it is time now for a new challenge here in Canada.

I enjoy making plans and organizing ahead, so I keep lists and notes for everything and I am happy whenever a plan is working out properly. Since I love the sea, mountains, but also busy cities, I think that Vancouver is the place to be for me. As a scout, I am prepared for the Canadian big city and wildlife. I can be enthusiastic about the smallest things and I am always in for new actions.

So, the PR-Team becomes international from now on. Until August, I will make sure that you can experience many fun activities with us here in Vancouver! I am already excited to ski, hike, party and play games with you!

I am looking forward to meeting all of you at our PuBNiGHT tomorrow. See you there!

Finally a guy joining the team!

2017-08-12 15.34.16When I was in the Rockies I already heard some people say: “I’ve never seen that guy before, but he looks so cool” and “Wow, who is that awesome dude in the back of the buss?” To most of you I already gave an answer to that question, but for the rest of you, I will help you out. Let me introduce myself.

My parents gave me the name Bart when I was born. I am a 22-year-old student from the Netherlands (yes, from the stroopwafels). Right now I am doing the study Leisure managent at the really cool city called Breda. For all of you considering going to the Netherlands, make sure you visit that city one day.

2017-08-13 11.12.48For my internship I chose to go far away from all the rain and snow back home, so I decided to do my internship abroad. When I was looking on the Internet I saw INTERNeX has a place for me to do my internship. I was really excited while reading all the things they do and I heard some great stories from Danielle. Fun fact: Danielle used to be my babysitter when I was a first-year student at college. So back to my story, I decided to go to the always-sunny Vancouver where it never rains. I was wrong about that part. However, I am really glad I can do my internship here.

2017-08-13 15.15.22

My first day at the office was a very hard day. First we talked about what we are going to do these weeks. Then it was time to buy a PlayStation 4 and grab a pizza. After that, Danielle and Tess came by to bring us some beers. The rest of the day we talked about the great things they have been through during their time here. You can imagine how tired I was after this long day at the office.

I am really excited to meet the rest of you who didn’t go to the Rockies. I am also really excited to speak to everybody again who did go to the Rockies, no worries 😉 Hope to see you all tonight at the PuB NiGHT!

Becoming a part of the new PR Team

20799859_1449831481772185_4738325276547896688_n

My name is Mandy Janssen and I will be joining the new PR team until the beginning of March. I will be helping to organize the PuB NiGHTS and the weekly and monthly events. I already met some of you lovely people during the amazing Rockies trip but for the people I haven’t met yet I will shortly introduce myself.

I am 21 years old and I am from a small city called Eindhoven in The Netherlands. I am studying International Event Management which is part of the Leisure program and for this study I will do a practicum here with INTERNeX in the beautiful city of Vancouver.

In my free time I love to hang out with friends at a bar or club, going to the cinema with them, go shopping or just grab something to eat in a nice restaurant.

One of my biggest passions in life is music, I have always been surrounded by music and I learned to play the keyboard and I follow singing classes as well. One thing that I also do in my free time is working as a first-aider at different events. So if any of you ever needs a first-aider during one of the events, I will be glad to help you.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you tonight at the PuB NiGHT!

Review: Kingsnight PuB NiGHT at the Bimini

Yesterday’s PuB NiGHT was amazing!! Thank you all so much for celebrating our Kingsnight with us, we had a great time!

18198084_10209369193888897_856724913_n.jpgAs the entire PR-team exists of Dutch people, we wanted to celebrate Kingsnight together with you. On Kingsday we celebrate our King’s birthday, but also celebrate being Dutch. It is the day when the whole Netherlands turns crazy (and orange) and it is therefore not strange that most people refer to “Dutch madness” when they are talking about Kingsday or Kingsnight. A lot of people go out on the night before Kingsday, as Kingsday is a national holiday, which means that people don’t have to deal with their hangover at work or at school.

The Bimini is a pub in Kitsilano and part of the Donelly Group. Every Wednesday it has a College Night with cheap prices on beers and a DJ. It also has pool tables, pinball and table football. Because of the College Night we thought it would be a great place to celebrate Kingsnight with some drinks and dances!

18198009_10208840573952635_1195962131_n.jpgIn the beginning of the night we started to just have a few drinks and talk with everyone. Some of you guys were dressed in orange, which was amazing! We also had the Dutch flag in face paint and it didn’t take long before almost everybody had a flag on their face. Around 10 the DJ started and we started dancing, like you should on Kingsnight.

Thank you all so much for coming! You guys made our night amazing and we celebrated it properly even when we were 8000 kilometres from the Netherlands!

The PR team is finally complete!

I am Iris van Knippenberg and I am the last new member of the PR department of INTERNeX. I will be joining the PR department until the end of August and help organising weekly events such as the PuB NiGHTS and trips to, for example, Granville Island, and monthly events as well.

english-bay-blogpostAs you will see me a lot during the events, a small introduction might be nice to start with. Just like the others, I am Dutch as well. I come from a small village in the Netherlands and therefore it has been quite an adventure to live in the great city Vancouver. I just turned 21 and you know what that means, right? Legally drinking in the USA. Currently, I am in the third year of my study International Leisure Management, which gave me the chance to travel around the world. I already went to Helsinki on my exchange for 5 months and now I am about to start a new adventure in Vancouver.

The one thing that I enjoy the most is travelling, exploring new places and meeting people with different cultural backgrounds. It is just so great to learn about all the different habits of other countries. My other interest therefore does make sense too, which is learning new languages, so I would love to learn some new words from you that I can take back to my home country. Besides travelling, I enjoy going to festivals and concerts. However, I can also enjoy a simple drink in a bar.

It would be very nice to finally meet all of you at PuB NiGHT tomorrow!

New Dutchie in town

My name is Tess and I am a 20-year-old Dutch student. I am currently doing my International Event Management course within the Leisure Management study program. Since I really like to go to festivals, and always have been a bit of a planner, I figured this would be the perfect study for me, and it is!

Besides going to festivals, I also really like going on new adventures and meet new people. Well you could say this is a big one! For the 16130173_10202605388211669_2005288679_onext 7 months I will join INTERNeX as a PR-Coordinator and support the team with tasks like organizing the PuB NiGHTS, trips and other events. My group of friends always call me the tour leader, since I always book and plan our trips and even make our own travel guide, so I think we will all be fine ☺

I am a very enthusiastic person and easy to enjoy by the smallest things! Like last Thursday, when I went up to Stanley Park, I saw a raccoon for the first time since I arrived in Vancouver. It just made my day! So I am very excited to go on the big trips with you to spot some more Canadian wildlife.

Fun fact about me: I used to do lots of sports before I started studying in Breda, and one of them was belly dancing. I even participated in several competitions! I still love to dance, but don’t you dare asking me to show some moves on the PuB NiGHTS, we will just keep it to drinking then 😀

I am excited to meet all of you guys, so hopefully see you at PuB NiGHT tonight!

– Tess
