The Rocky Mountains 2019- Are you ready?

Tomorrow is the day! The day that many of us have been waiting for; we will finally leave to the Rocky Mountains. So pack your bags, rest when you still can and get ready for a trip you are never going to forget.33304981604_6da396a973_o

To make sure you don’t miss the ride I would recommend on being in the right place on the right time tomorrow morning. And where would this be? The buss leaves at 7am from 999 Canada place. Do not be late and remember to check how to get to the meeting point at that hour. Sky trains might not be operating that early.

I’ve been getting questions about whether there is Wi-Fi at the cabins, if we need to bring towels or hairdryers etc. I will answer these questions right now. According to the information given from West Trek there will be Wi-Fi at the hotels but not at the Mountain Cabins . The hotels and the Mountain Cabins will both have towels, so no need to bring that. Unless you want to.  The hotels have hairdryers and Cabins won’t. Hotels have shampoos and other stuff, but again, the Mountain Cabins probably won’t. I would bring my own showering stuff. There will be plenty of space in the buss for our luggages so don’t worry about having too big of a backpack.

And again, remember to bring enough warm clothes, two pieces of ID and cash for the optional activities (if you wish to do any). You can find a specified schedule from the Facebook event page. Read also the previous blog posts about the Rockies trip, in case you haven’t done that yet.

See ya guys tomorrow morning!

The Rocky Mountains 2019 – What to bring?

You can already notice Easter approaching, seeing all the stores filling up with Easter stuff. Even Tim Horton’s has an Easter donut now available. Yes, I ate one this morning. Yes, it was delicious. But what does Easter mean to us? Well, a trip to the Rocky Mountains of course!34017079941_a423da830d_o.jpg

Not much more than a week and we will be sitting in a buss heading to see one of the top must see locations in Canada; The Rocky Mountains. In my previous blog post about the Rockies I talked about the amazing highlights of our four-day trip. To guarantee that you will enjoy your time in the Rockies I want to make sure that you aren’t forgetting anything relevant from your backpack.

The things you need depend of course on what you decide to do during the trip, but if I were you I’d be prepared for everything. It is going to be winter weather in the Rockies so remember to bring enough warm clothes. We don’t want anyone getting sick. We also have an opportunity to visit the hot springs so that’s why you might want to be ready for a swim. Good news for the 18-year-old ones: we will be in Alberta, so you can also join the parties! Anyhow, here is a short list of some necessities:

  • Warm clothes
  •  Extra pairs of socks (for the ones that might get wet)
  • Towel and bathing clothes
  • ID (2 pieces)
  • Money for snacks, 3 lunches and 1 dinner, and a night out in Banff
  • Charger (+portable power bank)
  • Cash for optional activities

If you wish to do any optional activities you can either book them in advance or pay on tour with cash. Prices (before Monday 15th/ on tour):

  • Banff Gondola: $60 / $65
  • Icefields Glacier Walk: $70/ $75
  • Combo: $125 / $130

Any questions regarding to the trip? Feel free to ask, see you soon!

What to do on the weekend?

As you all (hopefully!) know, we are going to the Rockies this weekend! Very, very exciting! Unfortunately, not everyone is able to join us. If you are one of those people, this blog post is for you! Let me tell you about all the fun things you can do this weekend that will make up for missing out on the trip!

Did you enjoy going to a fun fair when you were younger? Going on rides? Eating cotton candy? Well, this weekend is your chance to be nostalgic and feel like a kid again! All weekend long there will be a pop-up carnival in Surrey, where you can enjoy the view when going on a Ferris wheel, bump into people when using the bumper cars and go on more adult like rides that induce adrenaline, such as the Zero Gravity ride. And even if you’re not the I-love-carnival-rides-type of person, you can still have a great time at the food court eating corn dogs, snow cones or cotton candy.

Assuming not everyo15451755782_d1b6792647_n2ne enjoys carnivals, maybe the next activity is more soothing for you. Have you ever wanted to feel Canadian? Why not go to a game of one of Canada’s national sports?! You can even choose which one! Cheer on the Canucks at their hockey game in the Rogers Arena or the Stealth at their lacrosse game in Langley, all while being surrounded by sport fanatics!

5641828620_2dd923ef30_nSunday! Which means… it’s EASTER! Although looking for hidden chocolate eggs and painting boiled eggs might seem a little childish when you’re an adult, that doesn’t mean you cannot celebrate Easter! Meet up with a friend and enjoy an Easter brunch at one of the many places offering them (Seasons in the Park, The Wild Fig, Teahouse). And if you still enjoy celebrating Easter the way you did as a kid, be my guest! Let someone hide eggs around the house (or around town if you’re feeling adventurous) and go look for them! Tip: Use plastic eggs and fill them with alcohol, drink whenever you find one!

See you all on the Rockies trip! And to those who aren’t joining: have a good weekend and enjoy Easter!

Review: PuB NiGHT at TAPshack Burrard Bridge

It was a great PuB NiGHT yesterday at TAPshack! Thank you all for coming. I had an amazing night with everyone!

This time we went to TAPshack under the Burrard Bridge. They have happy hour every day from 8PM to closing time, when the beers, wines, some cocktails and snacks are cheaper! It is not a really big place, but it has a really good atmosphere. The view is also amazing! We could see Granville Island, the boats and the bridges. When it got darker it got even prettier because of all the lights.

17916583_10202947848212955_1894708213_o.jpgWe had two whole tables for our group and everyone moved around and had a talk with each other. Most of us are going on the Rockies trip this weekend, so this was definitely one of the big topics of the evening. Everyone was making plans for the trip and talking about how excited they are to go! This was really great to hear, because we are as excited as everybody else!

Have a great Easter Weekend and for everyone who is coming on the trip see you tomorrow morning!!

Rockies Trip 2014 Spring Review I

Wauw… what a weekend. There are not enough words in the world to describe this weekend, it was mind blowing. Over the next day we will review the Rockies Weekend trip. Let’s start with the first day on Friday at 8:00am.
We met at Watefront station on Friday at 8:00am and left Vancouver around 8:30am. Before we stopped in Hope for our first stop, we drove by a little town called Abbotsford, also known as the Canadian Capital of Raspberries. The town as one of the highest percentages of Christians in BC. As Lee told us this would make a great city to life in if it would not have the highest shoot-by crime rate and a high teen-mom rate.

Our first stop was in Hope, a small town in BC that is famous for their main street, where First Blood was produced and famous for their annually chainsaw wood carving fest. All the wooden carvings in Hope are made by only using chainsaw. We grabbed a coffee at the local coffee shop to wake us op and made our way into the Rockies.

We stopped at a big mall for some food and to have a quick walk around the fair before we headed towards the Spatahs Falls.

Before we could see the Spatahs Falls, we had to make our way through some rough snow and of course we all were prepared very well with our sneakers on.
The Spatahs Falls are a waterfall that in the summer gets really massive, but when we visited it was still quit, because there was not enough melted snow water yet. However this waterfall is a great place to make some funny pictures, like the waterfall comes out of your mouth or nose. After making our way back to the bus it was time to relax a bit before we arrived in the hotel in Valemount.

Once arrived in Valemount we checked-in to our rooms and went down to the Lobby for a nice Pasta Dinner before heading next door for our night out. And of course to practice the Backstreet Boys dance that Lee showed us in the Bus.

The first day was a big success and we saw so much of beautiful Canada. Stay tuned for the next Rockies review and do not forget to join the After-Rockies-Party by clicking here.

What was your highlight of the first day?
