Review: Vancouver Canucks hockey evening

Last Saturday we had a great evening by watching a hockey game here in Vancouver. It was the last pre-season game this year and the Vancouver Canucks played against the Edmonton Oilers. After a few Minutes Vancouver did already the first goal and again after a few Minutes they did their second goal. So it seemed the game would be very one-sided and Vancouver would win for sure. But then the game turned and Edmonton did one goal as well by playing really not bad anymore. The game turned from one-sided into suspenseful and we followed the game passionately.
The atmosphere was great, so even ,if you don’t like hockey, it’s a lot of fun. During the breaks they threw Canucks-shirts into the crowd, filmed people, who were dancing or did other funny things and played good music. The audience did a la ola wave and cheered the Canucks on. Apart from the game there were so many things and people that entertained you…it was really not possible to get bored.
At the end the Canucks won by three goals to two…YIHAAAA!!

Since it was still early for a Saturday evening we went out to the Doolin’s Irish Pub to enjoy some more beers.
See more pictures of the evening here.

Hope all of you have a great start in this week and we see you on wednesday at the PuB Night.

Join us for a great movie evening next Saturday here.

Client Testimonial

Timo, Germany

Well, there I was. Once again on a plane heading to Canada – Sipping my tomato juice, which is ‘plane’ better at high altitude, while gazing through the 17 1/8″ x 20 5/8″ window. Yet Canada looked like a layer of thick, dense clouds. Seriously though, I couldn’t wait to catch a first glimpse of my beautiful new home, British Columbia.

During my one-year stay in Edmonton during grade 11, I was often told to visit Vancouver. When someone would ask me about my thoughts on the city I would respond ‘If Whyte Avenue is Edmonton’s most exciting street, well then Vancouver must be Canada’s Whyte Avenue’.

I couldn’t wait to see this place!

While still in German High School I started planning my best possible way to spending time in Van City. Luckily it didn’t take me too long until I came across INTERNeX. Their help was crucial for me to say the least! Going through the whole visa/internship application process can get really exhausting. It’s great to have some professional back up, unless you like throwing pity parties due to frequent frustration.

And then…Boom!! While having a barbecue with my friends on July 11th, I received Mr. Wells’ email saying I got an internship placement with an NGO. Without trying to exaggerate and in respect of my friends hating to see me leave again – my excitement spilled over and captured everyone’s feelings.

Now, two months after being on that plane to Canada, I can say that living here In Vancouver has been an incredible experience so far. Through my internship I have networked my way around the NGO sector and I had the chance to attend enormously informative panel discussions and workshops. Above all that, it doesn’t even seem like I have arrived at the tip of the iceberg yet. There’s a lot more to come. And hey, didn’t you always want to wake up and ‘SpongeBob-Style’ walk your way to the office thinking ‘I’m ready! I’m ready!’?Well I do that five times a week. And needless to say, I even find time to explore Vancouver’s stunning surroundings.

Look at my picture from when I went zip lining in Whistler! It’s only one shot of a whole library of great experiences, at great places, with great people, and last bot not least – with InternEx. Thanks guys!

Cheers Timo

INTERNeX Canada: HiGHLiGHTS of the week

Hey guys, would you like to which are the most remarkable things that have happened this week in INTERNeX?

If the answer is yes, here you have one of our HiGHLiGHTS of the week posts !!

One of the the most important things that happened is that our new PR has arrived. His name is Tobias Rechtenbacher, but we can call him Toby !! Willkommen Tobias!!!

He is a 21 years old student from the South of Germany.

His hobbies in general are  sports in general, in particular soccer and tennis. But he loves hanging out with my friends as well! If you wanna know him, you just have to come to our PuB NiGHTS or join us in our weekly events!

Last Wednesday, we went to The Metropole, and we had a nice evening drinking and talking about the different issues and enjoying the cheap drinks and food.

We also had the opportunity to watch one of the first games of the Canucks vs Edmonton. Too bad our `Nucks lost 4-1!

And don´t forget to join us today to discover a real flea market in one of coolest areas in Vancouver: Commercial Drive!

After the market, we can go to eat and drink something in one of the pubs and cafes that you can find in Commercial Dr, also known as Hipsterland! I’m sure we can have a lot of fun!

Have a nice weekend everybody!

Best,

Mercedes

INTERNeX Canada: PuB NIGHT Review

Last night we had our weekly pub night at The Metropole, a very characteristic pub in Abbot Street. There are original mosaic tile floors, stained glass and exposed bricks – it’s charming! Furthermore you have the possibility to watch baseball and other sports on the TV screen – and of course: HOCKEY!

Yesterday the Canucks had a pre-season game against the Edmonton Oilers. The Canucks didn’t have the best of days – they lost 4:1! Hence, please don’t worry if you didn’t watch the game!

It was my first pub night with you guys here in Vancouver! It was great, because I met very nice people and I could get to know some of them better! Thank you!

Of course we ate some burgers and drank some beer because of the cheap Wednesday’s special menu:
Burger & Beer for $ 6’49 and drinks for $ 3’25 (+ tax)!

All things considered, we had a great time @ The Metropole!

I hope that you will join our next weekly pub night!

Take care,

Toby.
