What to do on the weekend?

It’s Friyay! I bet it is the favourite day of the week for most of us. If you have your whole weekend fully booked already that’s good news for you. If not, come to do something with the INTERNeX gang ☺IMG_20190321_194026.jpg

The weather seems so be nice for the weekend (not sure if it’s trustworthy) so if you have time you might want to go outside and just enjoy the sun. The sunsets here in Vancouver are also amazing and that’s really something worth seeing. Grab a book or go with a friend, take a blanket and some snacks and head to the beach. Here is a picture from English Bay Beach from few weeks back when I went there to enjoy the sunset.44322569234_3272b89b0d_o.jpg

Would you like to include something more fast and furious in your weekend? This Sunday the INTERNeX gang is heading to Planet Lazer to play some Laser Tag. You might want to wear something flexible and comfy since the game can get serious sometimes 😀 Other than that you only need to bring yourself. We will meet at Braid station at 5.30pm. Make sure you are on time but if you can only join later let me know. Hope to see as many of you on Sunday as possible. We will have a great evening for sure!

How was your weekend?

It’s beginning to look a lot like… summer! I did not expect to be able to wear shorts mid-May, but Vancouver continues to amaze me. Let’s look back on this fun, sunny weekend.

32266945_10156233996584647_4112762211934404608_nFriday night, it was time to go to our favorite country bar again: the Yale Saloon. And you know what that means… line-dancing time! Sadly, we were not wearing cowboy boots or hats, but that did not make it any less fun. Since we went line dancing before, we were not sure if we would learn a new choreography this time, or if we could show off moves we had already learned before. The choreographer did not let us down: we learned some new moves! When the line dancing ended, it was time to join some of you to the Bourbon. As always, we had a great time catching up with all of you and dancing to good music (sometimes even in a cage).

On Saturday, it was time to watch the Grand Final of 2018’s Eurovision Song Contest. I might have left Europe, but the European part of me has not left me. (Although, not only Europe participates in the contest, so what does being European regarding ‘Eurovision’ mean anyway?) My favorite thing about Eurovision is discussing the performances with friends, since most of the performances are quite, let’s say, unique. But hey, it would not be Eurovision if it didn’t include some laughs. I discussed the show with my Bulgarian friend from college, both of us supporting our own country. We figured neither of our home countries would win this year, but Israel’s “Toy” song winning the contest was definitely unexpected. Not only because of the song, but Israel is not even in Europe. Although, even Australia participates, so can we really be that surprised?

27241374947_326330bf27_nWhen I woke up on Sunday, I opened my weather app and saw that it was going to be 25 degrees Celsius that day. Great! Time to go to the beach! I spent the afternoon enjoying the sun and playing beach volleyball with some of you. At 4:30pm, we took the sky train to Planet Lazer: it was time to play laser tag with all of you! Playing three games was a lot of fun, yet exhausting as well. Water was our best friend when we finished. After hydrating ourselves, we all went home to rest.

I hope you all had a great weekend!

See you on Wednesday at 131 Water!

How was your weekend?

It’s just another manic Monday… Once again, the weekend went by in what feels like a heartbeat. But how can we be sad about that when we had such great weather the past couple of days? As I am writing this, the sun is still (!) shining, so sit back and enjoy the weather while I tell you about my sunny weekend.

On Saturday, Vancouver celebrated Earth Day by organizing a parade and having food trucks and live music ready in the park afterwards. Sounds cool, right?! That’s what we thought too, which is why we planned to go there with some of you. When we arrived, we discovered the parade was actually a march. Lots of people were walking around with self-made signs about climate change and how it affects our planet. It was very inspiring. However, the parade did not last that long, which is why we decided to make use of the good weather and go to the beach. We got ourselves some snacks at the supermarket and spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying the sun at English Bay.

On Sunday, my alarm went off at 7am. It was time for me to volunteer at the cat sanctuary again. In other words, petting cats whilst cleaning their litter boxes and providing them with food, water and a cosy place to sleep in. Trust me when I tell you scooping litter boxes isn’t that bad when you are surrounded by a dozen of adorable balls of fur. When I finished my tasks, I took the bus home and enjoyed the weather from my backyard. Since Sundays are meant for relaxing, I ended the day with watching Gilmore Girls on my laptop.

I hope you all enjoyed the weather last weekend! See you all on Wednesday for PuB NiGHT at The Lamplighter!

How was your weekend?

Wow what an amazing weekend was that! We had so much fun in Victoria, so if you want to read al about my adventures there then keep on reading!

It all started on Friday after work when I went to Horseshoe Bay first to pick up David and to go with him to English Bay where we met up some other people from INTERNeX and enjoyed the beach and some drinks of course.2017-09-23 18.01.25.jpg

On Saturday we woke up pretty early to take the bus to Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal, where we took the bus to go to Swartz Bay. Once we were on the boat I enjoyed a nice coffee and luckily could get a little bit more sleep before arriving in Swartz Bay.

IMG_0480Once we arrived we took the bus to the hostel where we dropped off our stuff and went out for some lunch. After our amazing lunch at The Warehouse we took some coffee at Starbucks and went to The Canoe Club for our great dinner. The food was really delicious and after we had our belly’s full of amazing food we went back to the hostel to prepare ourselves for an amazing night out.

IMG_0476Me, David, Kyrola, Saskia, Nathalie, Lena and Maxine went to a Nightclub called Paparazzi where there was a happy hour which meant that all drinks were only $5,-. After the happy hour me, David, Kyrola and Saskia stayed in the club and went home after a while.

The next day we had breakfast at John’s Place where we had an amazing “hangover” breakfast, which I think everyone really needed. After our breakfast we explored Victoria a bit and I bought an amazing Victoria Sweater and some Dutch liquorice. After having some great food and drinks it was time for us to go back to Vancouver.

Thank you all for an amazing weekend and we are looking forward to see you at the PuB NiGHT on Wednesday.

What to do on the weekend

What to do on the weekend? That’s the question you ask yourself on Fridays, right before the weekend starts! This weekend is a special one, since most of you will be off on Monday due to British Columbia day. We lined up a few activities and events for you to give you inspiration for this weekend.

14652023768_55187ec8f0_oThis weekend is Pride weekend, so there is a lot to do on Davie Street (between Burrard & Jervis). There is already a party going on tonight from 6pm to 12am. There are multiple stages, food vendors and a silent disco! Sunday is the day of the big parade and the festival on Sunset beach. There are over 130 parade entries with a lot of amazing floats and fun colors. The parade will start on Robson, turn down Denman, and turns onto Beach Avenue. Internex is going to celebrate Pride on Sunday, and we will meet in front of the Blue Ruby Jewellery at 11.45 am.

On Saturday and Sunday, the 41st Annual Powell Street Festival will be held. This festival celebrates the Japanese Canadian art and culture. You can enjoy live music, Japanese food, sumo wrestling and different kinds of art and theatre. The best part of this festival is that it’s free! To check out the entire events, places you need to go to and timetables, visit their website.

Saturday will be the last day of Honda Celebration of Light. It is up to Canada this time and we are expecting an amazing firework show since it’s Canada’s 150th birthday. Since it is the last day of the big event, a lot is going on in English Bay. You can enjoy an aerobatic airshow filled with noise, smoke, skills and suspense at 7.45pm. After that you have to be a bit patient till the fireworks start at 10pm. To have a good spot on the beach, make sure you will be there a few hours prior to the show, since they are closing of the streets behind it.

For those who are off on Monday, take some time to relax after this busy weekend! For the ones that do need to go to work again, keep up the good work and get most out of your weekend! I hope to see you all at the parade on Sunday.
