What to do on the weekend

It’s almost weekend! The weather is supposed to be amazing and there are fun things to do. Here’s some inspiration to get you started!

On Saturday we will go to the TD Vancouver Jazz Festival. The festival lasts for two weeks and there are events all around town. Fora lot of the events you do need tickets, but on Saturday there will be free concerts on Robson & Georgia. We will meet in front of the London Drugs on Georgia Street at 12 PM.

Another event that’s happening this weekend is the Dragon Boat Festival. This will take place on Saturday and Sunday with various locations all around False Creek. There will be boat races and free concerts.

On Sunday you can go to Greek day on Broadway. This is a street festival on Broadway from MacDonald to Blenheim with food and entertainment.

Or if you would rather take it easy you could always just go to one of the many beaches around Vancouver. You can go to English Bay, Second Beach, Third Beach, Sunset Beach, Kitsilano Beach, Jericho Beach, Spanish Banks or Wreck Beach if you don’t mind the optional clothing.

Just like every weekend this summer there’s the Richmond Night Market, Summer Illumination Night market and several Farmers markets on Saturday and Sunday.

I hope to see you all tomorrow at the Jazz Festival!

Experience IT review – Jericho Beach

Since the weather was so amazing this weekend we decided to have a relaxing day at the beach instead of paintballing. Thank you all for coming!

IMG_3887.JPGWe decided to go to Jericho Beach. This beach is a little further away from downtown and therefore way less busy then English Bay or Kitsilano Beach. It’s perfect if you just want to relax. If you don’t like the beach that much there is always the option to go lay in the park right next to the beach.

We spend most of our afternoon relaxing, listening to music and chatting, the way you should spend your day at the beach. Some of you where brave enough to go out for a swim and said the water was really nice. After we all got a little sunburned and tired from doing nothing all day, we decided it was time to go home and had to say our final goodbyes to Merle, as she left on Sunday.

I had a great day and I hope to see you all on PuB NiGHT!

What to do on the weekend?

It is Friday again and you know what that means, right? Time to get out of the house and celebrate the weekend. This weekend will be a long weekend, so you will have lots of time to explore British Columbia and Vancouver.

18195054_10155240525552103_6049775120854058037_nWe were already really lucky with the weather and it is getting better and better, which is why it is time to do outdoor activities. In this way we can enjoy the sun to the fullest. Therefore is INTERNeX planning a bike ride through Stanley Park on Sunday. You may have already seen the totem poles, but there are so many other things to explore in this amazing park.

There are also several events taking place during this weekend, such as the Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair and the Vancouver Comic Arts Festival. The Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair is a festival which is 4 days in total. This event is especially for the cowboys and cowgirls in our group. So let your inner cowboy free during this great festival. The Vancouver Comic Arts Festival is a festival with several comic-related events. These include readings, presentations, discussions and a big exhibition area. If you like comics, then this is definitely the place to go!

Besides that you can also go to Tagore Spring Festival in Surrey on Saturday. There are various kinds of performances, including dance, music and poetry. Next to that you can also learn a bit more about the Canadian culture while you watch presentations about all the different traditions and heritages. The festival is paid by donation, so definitely worth checking out!

17352379_10208531571187759_1886154942491608944_nIf you would rather watch sports during this weekend, you could go to the BC Place Stadium on Saturday and watch the Vancouver Whitecaps play against Sporting Kansas City. Of course, you could also go to one of the great sports bars in Vancouver. When you would rather spend your time outside because of the expected good weather, then you could go to one of Vancouver’s great beaches such as English Bay, Jericho Beach and Kitsilano Beach.

I hope you will have a great weekend! See you in Stanley Park or at next week’s PuB NiGHT!

How was your weekend? – Celebration of Light

What an amazing fireworks show!

Last Saturday we INTERNeX’ers went to see the first of 3 days of the Celebration of Light festival. The show started at 10pm but the beach was already extremely packed when we met up at smiley firework7.30pm. Luckily we still managed to squeeze into a spot big enough for our whole group!
Next, we waited in anticipation for the sun to finally go down. We were all expecting something great because fireworks were invented in China after all. So naturally the representative should make its country proud. And they didn’t disappoint. The show was really great! They even made Smileys in the air!

Regrettably, a half an hour later the show which was accompanied by dramatic music already ended.
However, the night was still young. So we moved on to chill at a nearby park where we were suddenly entertained by a wandering musician from East Van – the top of the world!
Later on, we once again ended up at The Cambie topping off an already awesome Saturday.

Hope you had an incredible weekend as well and see you at the PuB NiGHT on Wednesday!

PS: Don’t forget to swing by the office during this week to sign up for our Whistler Day trip on Sunday!

Celebration of Light

Ever seen a fireworks competition? There is one every year at Vancouver’s English Bay sponsored by Honda!
For this year’s 25th anniversary Team Lidu representing China will show us their firework skills accompanied by fitting music on July 25th. The next contestant will be Group Vision Show for Brazil on July 29th and finally, Archangel Fireworks for Canada on August 1st.
Each show begins at 10pm. However, because we want to have a good spot on Saturday for the Chinese fireworks, we’ll head to the viewing area a bit earlier at 7.30pm.

The competition will be judged by various industry experts, sponsor representatives and celebrities with following criteria:

Size of the Show
Overall Design and Artistry
Synchronization
Originality of Effects
Quality of Soundtrack
Quality of Fireworks

But wait! Aside from the fireworks there’s more! A festival at Sunset Beach with various entertainment and vendor stalls. Also, there will be musical showcases beginning from 7.30pm.

So check out the festival and join us later for Vancouver’s legendary Celebration of Light!
