How was your Weekend?

Who said fall in Vancouver is all rainy? All I can see is the beautiful sun, blue sky and all these sun-loaded energetic people. So this weekend I finally got to see the stunning Stanley Park. This is probably everything but an inside tip, but just go out there, rent a bike and see it yourself. In case are you not the sporty kind of person, there is also the very nice Stanley Park Brewing, which I can recommend just as much ;-).
But the true highlight of the past weekend, was clearly the Haunted House. And I am saying this as a person, that gets scared super easily, but even than – this was an insane Halloween experience to be made! It took us quite a while, to get to the place, where the Halloween magic happens.

As we were waiting in the queue, a great show was already provided. Dancing mummies, and monsters made the time fly by. And already here I got the first heart attack, as some of the actors, jumped up from behind and wandered through the people, giving us some scary looks and good frights. As plans were made, like who is to leave behind, and at what points we should be smarter than people in all these horror movies, it was finally time to go in. And I promise you, I was screaming my soul out. Since I do not want to spoil this too much, I am keeping the descriptions short. But I can still feel my heart beating as if it is about to jump out any minute. Different rooms with different themes and multiple nightmare celebrities, basically chased us through the halls of the haunted house. After all it was absolutely worth the time effort we had to put in this trip.
After all I feel ready to get into the next Halloween adventure. The upcoming Halloween party, might not be as frightening as the Haunted House, but this is finally the chance for everybody to dress up themselves. And you never know, who might be hiding around the next corner of the Blarney Stone on Thursday!
See you there.
Cheers,

Another event to consider on Saturday might be the 60th anniversary celebration of the Vancouver Maritime Museum. The celebration will be from 10 am to 9 pm and will include live entertainment and attractions. The admission is free.

On Saturday and Sunday are the Philippine Days 2019, which are being held at Waterfront Park in North Vancouver. This outdoor festival offers loads of Filipino culture such as authentic cuisine, live performances as well as parade demonstrations. There will be over 75 food and merchandise booths at the park sharing their culture with you. The event will be on Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm and on Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. The admission is free, but it is advised to bring cash, to pay at the booths.

Hope to see you guys there!

On Sunday is the Italian Day 2019, where everything Italian will be celebrated. The event will be held on Commercial Drive, which will be car-free zone for that day. You will be able to find over 120 merchants, food vendors and entertainment at the event. Just to give you an idea of the size of the event: 300,000 attendees are expected. What to do on the weekend?

It’s Friday and the sun is shining… Sounds like a great start of the weekend to me! It is supposed to stay sunny throughout the weekend, so here are some tips on what to do.

18876089399_3d63a1829d_nAre you into good food? And you like good music too? Then today is your lucky day! Today, the Richmond Night Market finally opens its doors to the public. On the market, you can find more than 100 food stands and over 200 retail stands. Moreover, there is a 50-foot entertainment stage that provides visitors with live performances throughout the evening. The word ‘boring’ will definitely not be in your vocabulary if you decide to visit this diverse market. The best part: entrance fee is only $3.75!

10141278356_812cfcd956_nOn Saturday, Granville Island is the place to be. There will be an Art Smash Street Party in which the wall paintings at the island’s new public space, The Chain & Forge, will be revealed. Not only will wall paintings be revealed, the party includes live painting as well. If art does not necessarily interest you, feel free to have some food at a variation of food trucks. According to the weather forecast it will be warm on Saturday, so having a cold beer is definitely a solid option too. Entrance to the party is free and it will last from 1 to 9pm!

On Sunday, it’s Mother’s Day! Whether you are here with your mom, or live with a host mom, it’s time to show your appreciation for her today. Take your (host) mom to the Glades Garden, where you can enjoy coffee, tea and chocolate while being surrounded by blooming flowers and music. The garden is opened from 10am until 4pm and tickets are $7 (cash only). Want something a little more exciting? Have a high tea with you mom on the train! Yes, you read that correctly. The Port Moody Station Museum offers a ride on their passenger train car, called ‘the Venosta,’ where families can enjoy a variety of teas, fruit and pastries. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children.

Enjoy your weekend everyone! I look forward to seeing you at our laser tag event on Sunday!

What to do on the weekend?

Here comes the sun and I say it’s all right. Spring is coming! According to the weather forecast, it will be sunny this weekend! Since we can finally plan activities outside again, let me give you some suggestions.

Saturday is a special day because… we’re celebrating Earth Day! Earth Day itself is actually Sunday the 22nd, however, celebrating it on a Saturday seems more convenient. Earth Day is an event celebrated worldwide. Its purpose is to raise awareness for the environment and help end plastic pollution. Plastic is damaging the planet to a great extent, including the ocean and its animals and us, humans, as well. Therefore, lets use this day to make a difference and appreciate the planet we are living on. The perfect way to do so? Go to the Earth Day Parade and Festival! There will be a march to the park, where food trucks and live music entertainment will be waiting for you. 29698319564_2b17f6c1ab_n

Does a day filled with sun, music and delicious food sound good to you? Then I found a great event for you! This Sunday the 40th Annual Greek Food Fest will be happening in Vancouver. Prepare your body for lots of Greek food, such as baklava and tzatziki. The event lasts all weekend long.

Not into Greek food? No worries! Until the 29th of April, there is a Tulip festival in Chilliwack. The festival offers 20 acres of tulips in all the vibrant colours you can think of. Enjoy a nice stroll along the ‘Tulip path,’ delicious food from the various food trucks and take pictures to show your family and friends. The festival is opened from 9am until 6pm and tickets vary from $10 online and $15 on-site. It might take a while to get there, but since it’s Western Canada’s largest and most renowned Tulip Festival, it will definitely be worth it!

Of course, if you just want to take it easy, why not go to the park and enjoy the sun? Bring a blanket, some fun games and delicious food and you are guaranteed to have a fun, relaxing day before the busy workweek starts again.

I wish you all a great weekend! See you at the Earth Day Parade tomorrow!

How was your weekend?

Wake up at 7:30am, check. Have a shower, check. Make breakfast, check. Get ready to go to work, check. As hard as it is to say goodbye to the weekend, we wouldn’t be enjoying weekends if Mondays didn’t exist. So let’s appreciate Mondays for once. But before we do that, let me tell you about my weekend!

40145500675_81bf2c797c_n

As the weather forecast predicted, Friday consisted of rain, rain and, wait for it… rain. Therefore, some of us decided to stay in and watch the newly released movie Love, Simon, at the cinema (definitely a must-see!). If you haven’t been to the cinema here yet, I recommend you to do so because it’s an experience before the movie even started! When buying a drink, you can choose between the normal version, zero-sugar, light, lemon/lime/cherry etc. And if that wasn’t exciting enough for you, wait till you sit down on your seat and discover that you can lean back! As you might guess, I had a great night!

40328178154_ca8bcd91bd_n

On Saturday I went to explore the city a little more with a friend I met at the hostel I used to stay at. Considering the weather wasn’t fantastic, we decided to turn it into a shopping day! So I can’t complain, really. Besides that I watched a livestream of the March For Our Lives, a march that took place in Washington (and all over the world), where over a million people fought for gun control in the US.

Since Sundays are meant for relaxing and taking a break from the busy work week, I decided to take the ferry to Granville Island. And guess what, it was SUNNY. The forecast made us think we would have to stay inside watching Netflix all weekend, but thankfully Vancouver decided to surprise us. I strolled down the public market where I could find the most delicious food. We also had free entertainment! There was live music and a busker who juggled with machetes. . I’d like to add: don’t try this at home!

I hope you all had a great weekend despite the rainy weather!

See you all at Malone’s for PuB NiGHT!
