How was your weekend?

Although it has been a slightly cold weekend, I had a lot of fun. Let me tell you all about it!

Cinema June 1st 2018On Friday, I left the office at 6pm, as usual. This time, I did not take the bus home right away. Instead, Kerstin, Nadine, Nadja and I went out for sushi at a place called ‘Momo Sushi’. Unexpectedly, our sushi was served within approximately 10 minutes after the waitress took our order. It is safe to say that the service was amazing. Just like our sushi. Our favourite: the avocado roll. And personally, I love the yam and vegetable tempura as well. The plan was to go to the cinema after dinner, however, the movie did not start until 9:35pm, so we decided to play Rummikub at 131 Water for a while. A few rounds of losing later, it was time to watch ‘I Feel Pretty’ at the cinema. A hilarious feel-good movie with an amazing message. I definitely recommend watching it. At 11:30pm, the movie ended and it was time to head home.

41842966624_2de5485e03_nI did not do anything special on Saturday, so let’s move on to my Sunday. On this day, I spent my morning sleeping in for the first time in weeks. When I was ready to say goodbye to my bed, I FaceTimed with one of my Dutch friends for a few hours. At 3.15pm, it was time to leave the house and go to the Extreme Air Park. Time for this week’s INTERNeX event! We spent the early evening jumping from trampoline to trampoline, playing dodgeball and basketball and jumping into foam pits. We even got to wear special glow-in-the-dark socks. I wouldn’t call it fashion, but they ensured our safety and whenever the lights went off, the socks were the only clothing items that remained visible. We jumped around for an hour and since we were all very sweaty, it was time to go home and have a shower. I spent the rest of the evening watching a movie and then it was time to call it a night.

I hope you all had a great weekend! See you on Wednesday at The Relish for PuB NiGHT!

How was your weekend?

There was quite a lot going on these past few days.
First, we had to say goodbye to one of our most awesome PR Coordinators Natasja. We met up at Waterfront Station and accompanied her to the airport. There we had some breakfast and then it was already time to send her off! There were lots of hugs and couple of tears. Eventually, we managed to let her go back to the Netherlands though. But we will definitely meet again!

Sunday many of us went hiking up Black Mountain. It was an event planned and organized by Chris one of our INTERNeXers.
It was pretty exhausting! And I’m sure some didn’t quite expect what hiking really means in Canada since it was their first time trying it after arriving in Vancouver. Regarding the weather it was extremely cloudy at first but luckily the sun came out when we reached the summit and were rewarded by an incredible view at Eagle Bluffs.

It was a long weekend! So, naturally we also had to do something on Labor Day. We would have been bored otherwise. In that case, what better place to go than the Extreme Air Park in Richmond?
We signed up for 2 hours of jumping fun. However, we quickly realized this is super exhausting as well!
Either way we constantly alternated between recklessly jumping into the Foam Pit while trying to do cool flips, doing dunks in the Zero Gravity Basketball area and playing 3-D Dodgeball. We had an insane amount of fun!

What did everyone else do on the weekend?

Cheers

What to do on the weekend

Another week is nearly over aaaand it’s time to get out and enjoy the weekend. Haven’t yet decided what to do? No panic. Have a look at these suggestions.

This weekend a very cool circus is opening its doors for you. It’s called Circusfest and is taking place from November 7th till November 9th in several locations around Vancouver. If you like Cirque du Soleil you’ll definitely like the Circusfest. The circus includes spectacular performances by humans only, and it combines circus with theatre. Go watch the Golden Gatsby Cabaret which is inspired by the 1930s, or experience a reinterpretation of Alice in Wonderland including aerial acrobatics that will definitely keep you entertained. You’ll find more of these circus performances in Vancouver. You can watch the Golden Gatsby Cabaret on Friday, November 7th, at 10:30pm at 1895 Venables Street. For more information on this show click here. The Alice in Wonderland show takes place  and Saturday, November 8th, at 4:30pm at the PNE Hastings Park in the Garden Auditorium. Click here for more information on this show. Watch the Circusfest promo video to get inspired.

And don’t forget our weekend activity at Extreme Air Park on Saturday at 1pm. Of course you can use the Cirkusfest as a warmup 🙂 Sign up for this activity here.

To finish of a nice Saturday go to the Improv TheatreSports. Two teams are competing against each other in a theatre competition, where it’s the audience who decides the themes. After being given a theme each team has to improvise different situations. This should be lots of fun! The Improv ThetreSports event takes place at Granville Island at the Improv Centre on Saturday, November 8th, at 9:30pm. Look here for more information.

Finally, to end a perfect weekend go enjoy some Blues at the Sunday Blues Revue. Every Sunday from 5pm till 9pm you’ll have the opportunity to experience real New Orleans style Blues in a New Orleans inspired venue. Is that cool… It think so! Have a look here for more info.

Have a great weekend!

Review: Pub Night @ Doolin’s Irish Pub

Yesterday we had another great pub night. This time we went to Doolin’s Irish Pub. Funny to have a talk with you guys about different accents and dialects. This was Frederikke’s and Alexander’s last pub night, so it’s was good to see both “old” and new faces showing up. As you can see on the picture a special surprise was given to Frederikke… of course a Canadian flag with greetings from a lot of INTERNeXers. A special thanks to Alexander and Johanna for preparing this surprise. And thanks to both Alexander and Frederikke for your participation in so many pub nights and INTERNeX activities. Wish you guys the best in the future, whereever you go and whatever you decide to do.

Thanks to all of you for another good evening, and hope to see you for a good time at Extreme Air Park on Saturday at 1pm. You can sign up here.

And you can still sign up for the Portland trip. Don’t think twice… this will be an awesome trip 🙂 Get more information and sign up here + make your payment at the INTERNeX office (only $229 + $30).

Review: Halloween party @ Blarney Stone

Last Friday we went to Blarney Stone for an awesome Halloween party. A lot of people were already about to line up in front of Blarney Stone at 7pm when we arrived. Luckily our tickets allowed us to skip the line. Inside it was already packed with people. We quickly realized that this was all the party people who participated in the Halloween pub crawl. After some time quite a few people went on to the next pub… but it didn’t last long before a lot more people arrived, and the pub was once again packed.

There really was no limit to the craziness of the different costumes that we saw this night! We saw everything from a guy dressed up as spaghetti with meatballs to a girl wearing a big hat that looked like a turkey. There was a Nina Turtle, Spiderman, a guy wearing a banana costume and much much more. As you can see we were of course also dressed up for Halloween.

We all had a great time. Got a bit of something to eat, a bit to drink and then off we went to the packed dance floor. The music played was not always the ordinary type of club music, and every now and then a live band was playing… actually not bad at all! You could sort of call this a Halloween party with an Irish twist.

Thanks to you guys who made this evening and night awesome! Take a look at more Halloween party pictures here.

Hope to see you for another great event/activity this Saturday at Extreme Air Park (Canada’s BIGGEST trampoline park). Don’t worry, it’s not dangerous. Everybody can do it 🙂 You can sign up here.

And of course we also have our pub night at Doolin’s Irish Pub on Wednesday at 7pm.

Finally, we have our Portland trip from October 14th till October 16th. Join in for some early Christmas shopping, NBA awesomeness and great sightseeing. Sign up here and visit the INTERNeX office to make your payment (only $229 for the trip + $30 for an NBA match!).
