What to do on the weekend?

Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome our all-time favourite days of the week: Saturday and Sunday aka the weekend! And this time Monday is joining the club of the free days! Yes, you read it right, we are having an extra-long weekend. In case you do not know yet how to spend those days, let me inspire you.

From Saturday until Monday, you can go to the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum to celebrate the 8th anniversary of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Play ping pong, get a photo where you can hold a real 2010 Olympic Torch or do rock climbing, there are enough sports-related activities to do. The BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum is open from 10am until 5pm and all weekend, you can get 50% off admission.

During the whole weekend, it is also possible for you to show off your ice skating skills on the outdoor ice rink at Robson Square (corner of Robson Street and Howe) from 9am until 11pm. It is free to do so, and if you cannot bring your own skates, you can rent a pair there for around $5, cash payment only!

Feel more like visiting a museum? Then I can advise you to go to the Museum of Vancouver to discover Vancouver’s history. The admission is free on Monday, 12th February and the museum is open from 10am until 5pm.

Have a nice, relaxing and fun weekend, no matter what you do! Personally, I am looking forward to our weekend trip to Kelowna!

Day of Skiing/Snowboarding at Cypress

On Saturday, we are heading up to Cypress mountain to go skiing/snowboarding! But what makes this day so special? Well since it’s Family Day Long weekend, Cypress is having some special prices and activities going on!

Aberdeen Centre’s Chinese New Year Flower and Gift Fair

This year, the Chinese New Year festival collides with the Family Day long weekend, which means there will be even more things for you to do! Although we will be going to the Chinese New Year Parade in Chinatown on Feb. 17th, it doesn’t hurt to go ahead and scope out this cultural celebration!  So what better way than to experience this cultural festival at the famous Aberdeen centre in Richmond? Although it is a little way out of Vancouver, this event has a lot of fun activities and shows going on (especially for gift shopping)!

Family Day Celebration

On Monday, the official Family Day holiday in BC, there will be an array of activities and events going on at the Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza. If you have nothing to do that day, come to see some of the great things going on including educational activities, free ice skating, hockey shoot outs, face painting and performances by Said the Whale.

The Secret World of Sharks and Rays at Vancouver Aquarium

Never been to the Aquarium in Vancouver? Why not go this weekend to learn about Sharks? At this exhibition,  you will get to learn all there is know about Sharks as well as their distant cousins: the skates, rays and ratfishes. Discover their mysterious behaviors, lifestyle and uncover the secret world of these underwater creatures!
