How about another Asian event? Or do you prefer to see the world’s best action sports photography at night? Mabye you feel more like food and beer? And if you do not feel like any of those events, why not heading out to Grouse Mountain to celebrate the start of the Olympic games all night long? Ofcourse you are more than welcome to join us to visit the Vancouver Aquarium.
The LunarFest will be held on the Art Gallary Plaza. The LunarFest is a festival that brings together Soul, Art and Life, it celebrates one of the oldest traditions for many Asian cultures, Lunar New Year. LunarFest starts on Friday and ends on Sunday evening, during the event different shows will be given, such as Latern Palaces or The meeting of Drums, which are free. Do not worry, there is also enough food available, especially dumplings.
Had enough about the Asian events? Why not heading down to the Jack Poole Plaza to see the Redbull Illume photographs on Friday or Saturday night. Redbull Illume shows the world’s best action sports photography on illuminated 2m x 2m light boxes. It starts every night around 5.30pm and is open until 10.00pm. Big plus: there is no entrance fee.
Feeling more like enjoying food and beer this weekend, then the Hawker’s market is where you should be on Saturday. The Hawker’s Market is a vibrant and exciting place with local food, loud music, beer and more. You can find the Hawker’s market at the East Van Studios, 870 E Cordova. However you need to buy a ticket at the door $15 or in advance $10.
And for those who do not want to stay in downtown Vancouver or like winter sports/apres ski, they should head out to the Grouse Mountain to celebrate the start of the 2014 Olympic Games with fun games, Djs and many more things to do all night long. Yes, all night long, Grouse Mountain will be open 24h from Saturday till Sunday.
And do not forget, Monday is Family Day in British Columbia, another day off!
