How was your weekend?

Here we are again, surviving through Monday. Did anyone else feel like the weekend went by so fast? I sure did. Maybe it is because the weekend was full of fun things to do. In this blog post you will get a sneak peak of the Vancouver Fashion week and on top of that some views from the Mt Seymour.img_20190323_173411.jpg

The INTERNeX gang visited the Vancouver Fashion week on Friday and Saturday. The event was full on both days so it was pretty hard to find seats at first. During breaks you just had to rush to get a seat and that’s what we did. Both of the nights included a lot of different designers and collections that were interesting to see. One of our candidates, Carolin, volunteered at the Fashion Week and it was nice to hear her voice at the show since she was the one introducing the designers and the names of the collections. The atmosphere at the Fashion Week was really nice. People were showing their respect towards the pieces they liked by cheering and clapping. Thank you to the ones who participated and I hope you all had a great time.

On Sunday the mountains were calling. Sara and me headed to the Mt. Seymour for some snowboarding. It was the season opening for both of us since I hadn’t been snowboarding since last year and it had been a three-year break for Sara. We still managed to survive without any broken bones. The view from Mt. Seymour was absolutely beautiful. We were also super lucky with the weather since it was quite warm, not too sunny and not snowing. The slopes were pretty empty so no lines for the lifts either. We spent a great day at the slopes and ended it with a nice dinner at a restaurant located on the mountain.

I wish everyone a nice upcoming week and remember to join us for PuB NiGHT @ The Mahony & Sons Stamps Landing

Smart Saver Vancouver

It is a sunny Wednesday, which means we are going to save money again! In this Smart Saver I will give you examples of student discounts, like some of you I am still a student and you can have quite a few benefits from owning a student card.

spscardLike many cities in the world, Vancouver has a student discount card. Meet the SPC card, a card you can obtain if you are a student, which gives you 10 to 15% off on most of the popular brands like: Forever 21, Blenzz, Taco Bell, Levi’s, Bath & Body Works and PINK by Victoria Secret. You can get the card for only $10 by registering online at spccard.ca.  To see where you can save some money, they have a very handy app where you can see the best deals. The card is only usable during school periods so if you sign up now, you have awesome deals till July 31st.

Do you want to discover Vancouver on another level? Seair Seaplanes offers beautiful sightseeing flights to nice destinations. And even better; they have student discounts. For example, you can already do some sightseeing in the air from Vancouver to Vancouver Island for $74.58.

Rather not travel by plane? Greyhound offers transportation by bus and gives students discounts of 10 percent or more, this will depend on where you go though, but the offer is there!

But if you are looking for some fun in and around Vancouver, these student offers could also be quite helpful:

  • Vancouver aquarium for $27 instead of $36
  • Science World for $18.50 instead of $23.25
  • Vancouver Art Gallery for $18 instead of $24
  • Capilano Suspension Bridge for $32.95 instead of $39.95

Did you read all of this but you don’t have a student card? Don’t be sad, we come up with great deals every Wednesday! And if you are going to do groceries always check the weekly flyer for the best deals.urbanown

One last tip: do you like Urban Outfitters as much as I do? I discovered that if you create an account in their app you get 10% off on your first purchase! After that you will get other great deals in the app. A bonus for the students; at Urban Outfitters you get 10% off with the SPC card as well!

Hope to see you tonight at the Distillery!

What to do on the weekend

It’s weekend again, and time to get out and experience some of the various great activities that Vancouver has to offer. But you might ask yourself… well here’s a couple of suggestions to help you out.

Friday

On Fridays the Rio Theatre offers you the cool opportunity to experience or perhaps reexperience good old movie classics/cult movies. This Friday, September 5th, the Rio Theatre shows the good old action packed Terminator 1 and 2 movies. The doors open at 8:45pm and the first movie starts at 9:15. The second movie starts at 11:30pm and the doors open at 11:00pm. You can of course also choose to watch both movies. A single ticket is 8$ at the entrance but you can get it for 6$ if you purchase it in advance. A double ticket cost 13$ at the entrance or you can purchase in advance and get the tickets for 10$. Rio Theatre is located at 1660 East Broadway, Vancouver close to Commercial-Braodway Station. Click here for more information on Rio Theatre.

Saturday

On Saturday you should of course join INTERNeX for stand up paddling at Granville Island. This will definitely be a fun experience! The forecast says awesome weather, so get out and enjoy the sun while it’s here.

Sunday

After a challenging hike up the Grouse grind you might want to do something more relaxing. Perhaps you want to be very early with your Christmas shopping this year… Visit the Porto Bello Market. Here you’ll also support local designers, producers and artists. You can also listen to live music while you do your shopping. At the the market you can buy fashion clothing, jewelry, various pieces of art (for instance photography art) etc. The market takes place in Creekside Recreation Centre in the Olympic Village. You can get more information about the market here.

Hope you’ll all have a nice and enjoyable weekend, and don’t forget to sign up for the dodge ball tournament happening on Monday, September 8th. You can sign up through Facebook here. Also remember to sign up for our fun and exciting laser tag event here.

INTERNeX Canada: Vancouver Fashion Week Review

Hello there!

Last Friday, we (the INTERNeX PR-Team) were very excited…WHY? Because we were invited to attend a very special event – the Vancouver Fashion Week! The Vancouver Fashion week (Sept 16th to 21st) was about Spring & Summer 2014 and took place at the Chinese Cultural Centre at 50 East Pender Street, very close to the INTERNeX office.

In general, what is the Vancouver Fashion Week about?

The VFW is the fastest growing fashion week in the world and every year the event is attended by over 20,000 guests! It’s a diverse and innovative fashion experience that features both emerging and established designers, e.g. international award-winning designers from very popular fashion capitals.

I was really curious to go to the Fashion Week, because I never saw a fashion show before. So I had no expectations. What about you? What are your expectations, if you would go to a fashion week?

So now I will tell you something about the impressions we got during the show.
At first I have to say that I was wondering how small the showroom and the catwalk actually were, because on TV a fashion week usually looks way bigger. Anyway, the show started and everyone was flabbergasted! Of course many of the guests took pictures from the models – they were very pretty, but in my opinion there were too many skinny models.

But the clothes they worn were kind of pretty! Of course, many of them were very spacy and not suitable for your everyday life, but otherwise some of them were very cool!

Well, probably I’m not a fashion person, but as far as I am able to judge I would say it was very interesting to see a Fashion Week and how the models walked down the catwalk – you know what I mean?! 😉

Take care,
Tobias
