What to do on the weekend?

The weekend is upon us, and if you still don’t know what to do the next few days, here are some suggestions. Foodies pay special attention, because this weekend you will have a few opportunities to get some amazing food.

Saturday is the NOSH Foodie Fest in the parking lot of the Capilano Mall from 11 am to 6 pm. There you will be able to find seven food trucks to satisfy your taste buds. And even better, the admission is free.

Another event to consider on Saturday might be the 60th anniversary celebration of the Vancouver Maritime Museum. The celebration will be from 10 am to 9 pm and will include live entertainment and attractions. The admission is free.

On Saturday and Sunday are the Philippine Days 2019, which are being held at Waterfront Park in North Vancouver. This outdoor festival offers loads of Filipino culture such as authentic cuisine, live performances as well as parade demonstrations. There will be over 75 food and merchandise booths at the park sharing their culture with you. The event will be on Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm and on Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. The admission is free, but it is advised to bring cash, to pay at the booths.

You can also join us on Sunday in Queen Elizabeth Park for some Disc Golf, where we will be able to explore the Park and enjoy a nice game with friends. We will meet at Vancouver City Center Sky Train station at 12.20 pm or you can also meet us directly at the Little Mountain Disc Golf course at 1 pm. Wear comfortable clothes and bring some water. Hope to see you guys there!

On Sunday is the Italian Day 2019, where everything Italian will be celebrated. The event will be held on Commercial Drive, which will be car-free zone for that day. You will be able to find over 120 merchants, food vendors and entertainment at the event. Just to give you an idea of the size of the event: 300,000 attendees are expected. The event is from 12 to 8 pm and the admission is free.

I hope you have wonderful weekend!

What to do on the weekend?

“Temperatures reach up to 33 degrees Celsius in Metro Vancouver this weekend” Summer has arrived in Vancouver and Mother Nature doesn’t shy away from it. It might be boiling all day, but hey, at least it’s not raining or snowing. So, let’s embrace the weather and enjoy it while it lasts.

36299350672_cba25ec2e5_n1As you know (and if you don’t, you’re welcome) the Honda Celebration of Light is happening this weekend! This is a three-day competition with its focus on… lights. Every year, three countries display fireworks based on a specific theme. This year’s theme is ‘Love’. Whilst showing the public the fireworks they created, judges from the Metro Vancouver area will be there to rate every performance. Moreover, the audience can vote by downloading the Honda Celebration of Light mobile app. The festival kicks off with South Africa’s performance this Saturday, July 28th. The fireworks start at 10pm and can be admired from English Bay.

21391064296_f302cde675_nSince the fireworks don’t start until 10pm, you might want to do something else before that. I have a great idea for you! Columbia StrEAT Food Fest, the largest one-day food truck fest in Canada, is taking place this Saturday. This event includes hundreds of food trucks, eight beer gardens (yes, eight!) and live music. Sounds fantastic, right? Well, what makes it even more fantastic is that the admission is completely free! You just have to pay for the amazing food and beverages. You can visit this event from 4 until 10pm on Columbia Street in New Westminster.

Sunday, funday! Since the temperatures are rising this weekend, why not spend your Sunday enjoying the sun in the park? One of Port Moody’s Summer Sundays takes place this Sunday. They will provide live music, so if you bring a blanket, some games and snacks, you can have a nice, fun day in the park. The live music starts at 2pm.

Have a great weekend! See you tonight at our Pizza and Sunset event or tomorrow at the Celebration of Light!

What to do on the weekend?

The week is almost over and people are starting to get ready for the weekend. I hope you all had a great week and are ready for an awesome weekend as well. Got any plans for the weekend yet? No? There is a lot to do this weekend, so that also means there is a lot of choice for you!

First of all, the INTERNeX family is going to celebrate Chinese New Year at the Chinese New Year Parade this Sunday. 15965745_10154886634952103_8586645978562399909_n
However, if you do not have time to go to the parade, there are plenty of events left to attend as well. It already starts at the 28th of January with a cooking demonstration in Lonsdale Quay Market. After that you can also watch the traditional Eye-Dotting Ceremony at 2 pm or the Lion Dance after.

On Sunday you can also show your best moves during the VSO New Music Festival: On a Wire! You can enjoy an amazing electric music performance of Bramwell Tovey and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. If you love electric music, you should definitely check this out! The music festival takes place in Orpheum at 601 Smithe Street. It starts at 7.30 pm, so you can even plan other activities during the day. Please make sure to buy tickets beforehand to ensure a spot. Tickets cost $30 for an adult and if you still got a student card, you can get a ticket for only $22.50.

This weekend the event Cuisine & Confessions takes place in Vancouver Playhouse. The performance is a combination of a kitchen and circus. Make sure not to wear your nicest clothes, as their will be food throwing involved. Even though this performance is quite pricy, it is still worth your time. Prices range from $45 to $60.

Another event that you may have noticed this week is Street Food City. During Street Food City you can find over 25 food trucks in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery. The food trucks mostly offer local food for a pretty good price. This weekend will be your last chance to try local food at one of these food trucks. If you go there, eat as much as you can and tell your flatmates that you will not join dinner, as you will definitely leave the event with a full stomach. Time for a break? While enjoying your meal or taking a break, you can listen to some music.

I hope to see you on Sunday at the Chinese New Year Parade. If not, have a great weekend anyways and see you at PuB NiGHT!
