What to do on the weekend?

It’s weekend again and you can get an impression why Vancouver is also called “Raincouver”! It’s rainy and this weekend, there is only a small possibility to see the sun! That’s why you should especially focus on indoor activities.

15630251392_a411c3ce50_zThis Friday you should check out the Fly over Canada at Canada Place. It’s a multi-dimensional theatre with a Halloween theme. BC residents save 25% if they use the promo code LOCAL25. So if you planed to go to the FlyOver then you better do it this Friday! As usual you will also get the chance to go to Friday Night Life Music in North Vancouver again. It is taking place at 3201 Mountain Highway. And who wants to prepare himself for Halloween, can check out one of Vancouver’s Haunted Attractions!

On Saturday the Kitsilano Autumn Fair is taking place. It is a small but free community event both outdoors in the street and indoors at the Kitsilano Neighbourhood House at 2305 West 7th Avenue. The event includes a pancake breakfast, bouncy castle, children’s activities, pumpkin patch, live entertainment and a market. The Autumn Fair fills an entire block with street vendors, food trucks, carnival games, a pumpkin patch, and local musicians. You can step inside Kits House to check out a haunted house, a pancake breakfast, and our Kits Kafe! Saturday is also a Hockey Day. The Vancouver Canucks as well as the Vancouver Giants will play in Vancouver. The Canucks play against Pittsburgh Penguins at Rodgers Arena and the Giants against Seattle at Langley events centre.

10296169153_a2c1394977_zSunday a lot of Halloween events are taking place again. So you can choose again between scary and family-friendly activities! In my opinion you should check out the VanDusen Glow in the Garden. It’s taking place at VanDusen Botanical Garden. At the event, in most years, there might be half a dozen or so skeletons scattered around the place, but far less scary stuff than almost any other spooky event in town, which makes it especially popular for young families and tiny folk with nervous dispositions. It’s wonderful for people of all ages!

However, I hope everyone will have a very good weekend!

INTERNeX Canada: How was your weekend?

Erik went all out with his shorts and flip flops -I applaud you, sir!

Out of all of the pub nights and trips I have organized and attended, probably the most memorable event for me was last Friday.  We were all at the Morrissey pub on Granville street. It was such a fun night with everyone, I thought. Fun…and also very special.

It was actually different from our usual pub and club nights, because not only was it a Hawaiian theme, but also because Tim and our company partners from Denmark came to join us! It was so much fun to see every one enjoying their time, drinking beers, and smiling. I always know Morrissey is a great place for us!

Cheers to tequila shots!!!

As we were sitting at the pub though, I noticed people were taking turns and disappearing for a good five to ten minutes. Hmmm very interesting, I thought. When I asked where they were going, they said they needed to go to the washroom….that must have been a very long washroom break I must say. But later I found out why. My themed pub and club night turned into a my surprise goodbye party! Ilse presented me with a photo scrapbook with everyone’s comments in it. I was so caught off guard that I didn’t know how to react. I think that part of the night is what made it so special for me.

group photo!

Then after, we made our way to VENUE! Enough being emotional because we had to go party it up and dance the night away at the club! Even Joan and Maria joined us to buy everyone a round of tequila shots! It was very very sweet of them and I’m sure all of us really appreciated it (not going to say who 😉 )! Overall it was such a successful, emotional, hilarious, and incredible night!

Thank you everyone for coming out that night and celebrating!

Cheers,

Flora

INTERNeX Canada: How was your weekend?

“Last Friday night, yeah we danced on table tops”  -well almost. If you didn’t get the the reference, that was part of the lyrics from Katy Perry’s song Last Friday Night! This is so fitting for us because we really partied it up at the Pint for a pub and club night last Friday! And we had an amazing time just catching up with old and new faces, dancing, singing, and having a couple of drinks! It was also a very special night because in a way it was like a celebration and farewell party for Maike, Jildau, and Tam Ara. And because we had such a big group our tables were scattered all around the pub! I’d say it was one of the biggest groups we’ve had so far so let’s keep it up! 😉

The night began somewhat slow but just an hour later, the pub got so crowded and every one was cheering and just having a great time! We also had Samuel drop by from Westtrek tours to talk about our Rockies Trip! And then later in the night, we did a draw for a one day trip ticket from Westtrek to either Seattle or Whistler…and if you missed the announcing, the winner was Queenie!!

Also, the Vancouver Canucks won the hockey game against Predators (1-0) which was awesome. But I got to say, the game wasn’t that exciting -oops did I just say that? And then to end the night, we all went to the dance floor to show off our moves! Although I’m not much of a dancer, it was just so much fun I almost couldn’t pull myself away!

As for the rest of the weekend, it was very relaxing for me! Last night, I watched a movie called “Life of Pi” and the visuals in the movie was just so impressive! I highly recommend you watch it. And of course, if you’re looking to be more involved in fun events like these and more, come with us to the Rockies trip at the end of March! 😀

Cheers,

Flora

Thank god it’s Friday!

The work week is almost over and were all glad that weekend is coming. Friday is great because you can relax or do something fun. Remember that there won’t be an alarm ringing the next morning! Don’t know what to do on Friday night? I made a list for you 🙂

– For cheap fun;
1. Call some friends and have a potluck night. Ask everyone to bring some food to share and get some ice cream.
2.Game night! You can also do it after the potluck night. Write down a lot of movies, songs, and book titles and play charades.

– Experience your city;
1.Go online and find out what’s going on in your city. Try out a club with live music or go to a comedy night. You can relax after a busy work week and they will entertain you.

– Go crazy on Friday night
1. Karaoke!  Just sing the stress away. There will be a karaoke bar in your city and if you don’t want to go out, there are a lot karaoke games for the playstation, nintendo & Xbox.
2. Go out! If you rather dance than sing, just go to a bar where no one knows you can go crazy as much as you want to.

-Me-time
1.Do you want to be alone on Friday night? Take a nice bath, put on some music and maybe drink a beer or a glass of wine. Good way to relax!
2. Skype night. depens on the time difference ofcourse. Some of us are far away from their family, so take the whole night to update everyone.
3. Enjoy your hobby. Spend the whole night on your hobby. Think about sports, baking, build small airplanes etc.

Ofcourse there are more ways to spend the Friday night. Please feel free to leave a comment with your idea!
