INTERNeX Canada: PuB NIGHT Review

Hi guys!

Yesterday, we went to The Railway Club for our weekly pub night! The music was excellent, they usually have amazing concerts. We could enjoy three fantastic rock bands: Double Fuzz, Ornament and Crime and Still Spirit. The pub was very cool. There was a little toy train that passed every few minutes over our heads, very funny! The special beer was The Moose Head. Of course, all the Canadians brands must to have the word “moose”, “maple” or “beaver”.

It was the first pub night for our new PR, Jelle . These nights are an excellent occasion for us (the super PR team) because all of us are new in the city and we are looking forward to meet a lot of people. So, don’t be shy! If you didn’t come, you have to join us the next time.

Most of them were from Germany, so we could talk about our loved Europe, shared impressions about Canada, and learnt some Germans words, ich danke ihnen! And we were talking about the next Saturday trip to Richmond Go-Kart too! If you are thinking about come or not, don’t hesitate! It will be fantastic. We have postponed this trip several times due to weather, but this time will be the good one!

Coming back home Jelle and I saw a couple of raccoon’s in the middle of the road! I had never seen one before, they are so cute… We don’t have pictures because it was very dark. Maybe the next time!

Kisses,

Clara.

INTERNeX Canada: How to scape from a bear!

In Canada, there are approximately 25,000 grizzly bears occupying British Columbia, Ontario, Alberta, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, Nuvanut, and the northern part of Manitoba.

If you should happen to run into a bear or you find yourself face to face with a bear, do you know what to do? Read on, because here are some interesting tips!

  1.  First of all, keep calm! Most of bears try to avoid people, so you should not be afraid.
  2.  If the bear doesn’t seem dangerous or agressive and is far away, just make as much noise as you can. You’ll let him/her know your presence: talk loudly, make noise, etc. (but don’t whistle)
  3.  Keep your distance, but if the bear is closer, stop and  don’t panic! Remain calm and try to look as large as possible. Then, try to back slowly and speak softly.Beer deterrent
  4.  Carry bear spray! Yeah, it sounds funny, but it actually exists. It’s a special pepper spray and is an invaluable deterrent!! (Take care, it’s a good deterrent, but the scent of its resin can actually attract bears)

Just watch this funny video, it’ll help you a lot !

P.S. Just keep in mind guys: Do not feed bears guys! It’s illegal in all of Canadian and USA National parks, and bears will associate humans with easy food!

Best,

Mercedes

International Vancouver: Oppa Gangnam Style!

Canada is such a multicultural place, especially Vancouver. It is home to one of the biggest Asian communities! And this post is one of the reasons why I think Vancouver is such an international city. And before you all say something, I know this post is way overdue…but I’m still going through with it. For those of you who didn’t know, I was born in South Korea but moved to Vancouver when I was only seven.  And every time I meet someone new and after when they find out that I’m Korean,  immediately they start doing this – Op, op, op, Oppa Gangnam Style *dance moves*. Seriously? And after their horrible rendition of this song, they proceed to ask me what the song lyrics actually mean. It amazes me how viral the music video has gone yet so many people don’t know what the lyrics mean, well more like they don’t take the time to find out for themselves.

So read carefully…because I am about to explain what the song is about…for like the 50th time. Basically, Psy, the singer and creator of this song, talks about the lifestyle of Gangnam (a district in South Korea). He describes how the women in Gangnam act proper during the day time but become wild during the night. And Psy talks about about how he is the right kind of man for these ladies in Gangnam.

There, now you know a little bit more about the song and what Psy is talking about. Like I said, Vancouver is a city known for one of the largest Asian communities, but I think Koreans definitely stand out…due to the help from this famous song.

Isn’t it crazy how one video went so viral worldwide? It has reached over a billion views on Youtube!

Cheers,

Flora

INTERNeX Canada: PuB NiGHT Review!

Yesterday, we went to Steamworks for our weekly pub night! It was great because so many people came out (especially some who never have before). I guess they finally decided to join the dark side. But I’m sure it was also because of the Rockies trip! We were all so excited that we couldn’t stop talking about it. We discussed what to pack, what to bring, and how much were are going to enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend.

Life is so much better when you go out to drink during the week, isn’t it? Just wait until the Summer finally starts rolling in…with hot weather and gorgeous sunsets in Vancouver, you’ll be dying to come out to our pub nights every day!

Actually, there is another reason why I love our weekly pub nights. You get to know everyone a lot better at these events. The more time you share with that person, the more you’ll know about them.  These nights are for  personal stories, laughing together at funny jokes, and sharing great memories. It’s always a good time at INTERNeX pub nights and I also get learn so much about every one.  Who doesn’t want to be around these bunch of lovely people?

Thank you all for coming 😉

Cheers,

Flora

INTERNeX Canada: The picture of the week

The picture of the week happened in our last pub night! It was one of the craziest pub nights ever! And the farewell for two of our candidates!! I don’t know if it’s Christmas, the confidence or what! But it’s funny to see the before and after of everybody! In our first days all of us are kind of quiet, shy… and then…well, no words needed!

Thanks again for the good moments together!

Cheers,

Irene
