How was your weekend?

The weekend is already behind us, so it’s time to take a look at what happened this weekend.

It was my first week in Canada and therefore me and my fellow students Barbara and Franzi missed the Grouse Grind Hike last weekend. That’s why we decided to do that on Saturday. Jasmin and Megan have already told us that the hike would be difficult, but to be honest, we did not believe them. Well, we’ve been taught a better lesson. The trail was much harder than we expected. But we finished the hike in 1 hour and 15 minutes, which is not too bad I think.

The next day was more relaxing. On Sunday we went to the Queen Elizabeth Park for some Disc Golf. There is a prepared trail for the game and the main goal is to throw the discs in the baskets. We built teams and then the game started. It was a lot of fun, even when the discs not always flew in the right direction. And sometimes we needed a lot of tries to get them into the baskets. But we had a good time though. 62551251_2245194065792281_6647863583201820672_n

After we finished the game we decided to join the Italian Day 2019, which took place on Commercial Drive. There were a lot of food vendors with every kind of specialities you can imagine. Some of us got Italian food like pasta and pizza, but there were also a lot of merchants who sold Chinese, Greek or even Thai food. It was so tasty! Furthermore the Festival had live bands and other entertaining programs. And as you can see on the picture, there were thousands of people. Overall, it was a cool way to explore a festival like this in Canada. 62261001_350475435656712_7289749731239002112_n-e1560202266383.jpg
Thanks to everyone who came and joined us this weekend! See you at the Beaver on Wednesday for PuB NiGHT!

How was your weekend?

How my weekend was? Hmm.. I can’t decide which word describes this weekend the best: great, wonderful, awesome, perfect, gorgeous, fabulous, fantastic, spectacular or exceptionally good? At least I had a lot of fun, because this weekend was our trip to Kelowna. Oh, now I got your interest? Well, sit back and read all about our adventures in this beautiful city.

28080563_1888898747818262_1858428207_o1.jpgThe adventure started Friday at 12 pm at the Pacific Central Station. People showed up with their suitcases and bags to get in the bus. And there we go, a five-hour ride to Kelowna! We saw some beautiful views on our way. After a long sit we arrived in Kolowna. We dropped our stuff in our rooms and walked to this awesome steakhouse. One of the hardest decisions was: What are we going to eat? So many nice choices like burgers, chicken and ribs. When the hunger was gone and we finished our meals it was time to have a little party at the hotel. We played some fun games and, since it was carnival, we played some nice carnival music.

*BIEP BIEP BIEP* At 6:45 the alarm went of. Time for all the skiers and snowboarders to get some breakfast and prepare ourselves for a day in the snow. After one hour in the bus we arrived at the Big White. In the lift to the top we realized how beautiful the view is from there. A sky as blue as a millionaire’s swimming pool. We went down a lot of times from different slopes. The area was very big, so we could do every time a different slope to see them all. The trials where not crowded at all, so many times we had the mountain for ourselves. We ended the day with a beer during the après ski next to the campfire. Then it was time for us to take the bus back to our hotel. We had a little time to prepare ourselves for another dinner and night out. This time we went to an Asian restaurant next to the hotel. Also here we enjoyed some delicious food. We decided to taste our wines we bought at the wine tasting tour and do another fun game before going to Sapphire, the biggest club in Kelowna. A 00’s party was going with a DJ who played all our classic sing-alongs.

27990347_1888900691151401_1024515969_oRise and shine, a new day has arrived. We woke up fresh and energetic to start the day with a boost. Ok, maybe not, but at least we stood up to have breakfast. When the rooms were clean and the luggage was packed, we took the bus to Kelowna downtown. In the city we did the scavenger hunt game. The groups had to do as many fun assignments as possible to get points. So we proposed, hugged, fished, danced and so on. After three hours, we met at the bus again to get our luggage and go home. This time we could enjoy a bus ride for 7 hours. Since we did not sleep that much this weekend, we could catch some sleep during the ride.

It was really great to hear that all of you had a great time! And so did we! Thanks to you, it was a really nice weekend. If you did not went on this trip, I am happy to tell you all about it tomorrow at PuB NiGHT in the Lamplighter. See you then!

How was your weekend?

“Zie ginds komt de stoomboot…” You don’t know that lyrics? Could be, it is the dutch song we sing when Sinterklaas is arriving in the Netherlands. And Saturday was that day. Because we are some Dutch people, we, uh I, did want to celebrate this great party on Friday, so we celebrated it with Sinterklaas music and pepernoten. Everybody loved it so much *kuch*.

Saturday was match day. Canucks were playing against St. Louis Blues. We met up in front of the Rogers Arena and found our seats. After the national anthems of the USA and Canada the game began. In the break it was time to see how lucky we were tonight and we bought some 50/50 tickets. Spoiler alert: We won nothing. The rest of the game was exciting. We saw some fights and the teams were quit even. It was a tie, but in the overtime the blue ones scored one more time. That meant St. Blues won the game. Afterwards we met the rest of INTERNeX at the Bourbon and we had a lot of fun the rest of the night.

Sunday was recovering day. Netflix all the way. After all it was a good weekend. How was your weekend? Tell me everything about it next PuB NiGHT in Malone’s.

Canucks game – Experience IT Review

Yesterday we finally went to a Canucks game. It was great to share this experience with all of you. Thank you all for coming!

The Canucks had to play against the New York Islanders. We were hoping that the Canucks would play well. We were becoming real fans as some of us had our Canucks shirt and/or hats on. We wanted to cheer for our Vancouver team!

17237213_10208456527391711_422730144_oWhen we got in, there were so many people in the Rogers Arena to cheer for the Canucks. We could not believe that so many people were going there to watch the game. The atmosphere in the arena was amazing with all those people together cheering for the teams. The Canucks were playing pretty well and the fans went crazy every time they made a goal. It was great to be able to compare this game to our previous junior hockey game. There were more breaks during the periods and this time we could actually see the puck flying around the field. Because they tied the game was extended with 5 minutes. Unfortunately, the Canucks were not able to score and therefore lost with the end score Canucks 3 – 4 Islanders.

After the game we went to the merchandise shop to do some shopping. There were lots of shirts, hats and even pucks. We looked around for a bit and some of you bought some souvenirs for yourself.

Seeing the Canucks was a great experience! See you next week on PuB NiGHT and have a great weekend!
