INTERNeX Canada: What to do on the weekend!

The summer is over finally, and we need to look for alternative plans because it will probably rain during the weekend in Vancouver !!

INTERNeX goest to Victoria, to enjoy the amazing capital of British Columbia. We’ll enjoy the Empress Hotel, the Parliament Buildings, the Beacon Hill Park, the Inner Harbour, Chinatown…and enjoy the pubs and the best ice cream of Victoria !!

For those who are staying in Vancouver, here there are a few things you can do if the weather doesn’t allow you to enjoy the outdoor activities.

Option number 1: Go to the cinema and watch a movie !!

That’s without doubt my favorite option when it’s raining or just when I need to relax a little bit. You can also stay at home and watch in in your pc, but the experience of watching a movie in a big screen is more than worth it !! Right in Tinseltown International Village we have a Cineplex Odeon Cinema.

The movies are being played are:

  • Austenland
  • Blue Jasmine
  • Despicable Me 2
  • Ekstra
  • Lee Daniels’ The Butler
  • My lucky star
  • Nothing left to fear
  • One direction- This is us
  • Pacific Rim
  • The art of the steal
  • The conjuring
  • The grandmaster
  • The mortal instruments: City of Bones
  • The wolverine
  • This is the end

Where: Cineplex Odeon International Village Cinemas ( 88 West Pender Street, 3rd Floor )

Option number 2: Bowling !!

If you don’t like a lot the idea of going to the cinema, you can enjoy a nice afternoon bowling with your friends!

Right in downtown, there is a place called “Commodore Lanes & Billiards”.

They have 12 Lanes of 5-pin bowling, 21 billiard tables, arcade, fooseball tables and much more !!

Where: Commodore Lanes & Billiards. 838 Grandville Street.

I hope it helped guys !

Best,

Mercedes

INTERNeX Canada: Happy Canada Day !!

Back from our White water Rafting Trip, it’s time to celebrate Canada Day !!

574980_4142545611678_759345892_nJuly 1st, and it’s the 146th Anniversary of this amazing land. If you didn´t know, this national day it´s a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of the July 1st, 1867 (Constitution Act, 1867, which confederated the country of Canada).

You can find celebrations everywhere across the country for Canada Day, usually outdoor events, such as barbecues, parades, fireworks, free concerts, carnivals and different kind of shows.

Here is a few things you can do in Vancouver today:

Canada Day at Canada Place: The biggest birthday bash outside of Ottawa. 25 music and dance performances on three stages, extreme sports, street food and the Canada Day Parade.

  • Waterfront Party: 10a.m.-6p.m.
  • Canada Day Parade: 7p.m-8p.m. (Starting at Georgia and Broughton Streets)

Canada Day Burrard Inlet Fireworks Show: One of the summers’ best fireworks shows. There is two bargers: one in Coal Harbour and one in Dundarave. Best viewing is from Canada Place or Coal Harbour Seawall.

  • Visible from different locations throughout the city: 10.30 p.m. -11 p.m.

Canada Day on Grandville Island: As part of the TD Vancouver International Jazz Fest, lots of free concerts will be staged at different stages throughout Grandville Island.

There is also a parade and face painting and roving clowns for kids.

  • Grandville Island: Noon -9.30 p.m.

As you can see, we have a lot of interesting options. Which one do you prefer?

HAPPY CANADA DAY

Best,

Mercedes.

INTERNeX Canada: Pub Night Review

Hi there!

Yesterday we had another great Pub Night! We all met in Cinema Public House in the craziest Street ever: Grandville!

We were around 15 people and it was great to see again some faces like Anna´s! She has come back for her ranchstay or Cristiana that has just come back of a great trip to New York and will spend her last days here in Vancouver!

The place was really nice and some of our candidates played table football! There were other kinds of strange games with sand, so curious! We were joking because it seemed like a zen garden! But of course it wasn´t!

We spent a good time there all together speaking a little bit about our week and making new plans for the next weeks, and of course taking good cocktails in the middle of the week!

Later we have the temptation to go to Joe´s apartment but we were really tired so we preferred to take a rest! Weekend is coming soon!

It´s always fun to spend time with all of you! Thanks for coming!

See you soon!

Take a look to our flickr page to see the photos!

Cheers,

Irene

INTERNeX Canada: Pub Crawl Review

Yesterday we had a special Pub Night!  It wasn´t just a pub night, it was a pub crawl!! We were together with another group of international people from International Hostelling! We went to three different pubs. We started with “Johnnie Fox Irish Pub”, a pub just next to the hostel in Grandville Street. We were a group of barely 30 people and enjoyed our first drink there! Our nice guide Ron who was leading us to the different pubs! International Hostelling organizes pub crawls for their new guest every week. Definitely is a good idea to know more people and places to go out in Vancouver.

The second stop was at The Forum where a karaoke competition took place! It seemed like a real concert because all the people who were singing were quite professional. Lies was brave enough to go on the stage and sang “This boots are made for walking” and she was absolutely incredible!

Janin and I wanted to perform or let’s say destroy the ears of everybody there. I absolutely can NOT sing in Spanish so imagine it in English! I even couldn´t even read all the lyrics, they were so quickly running on the screen! But we and for sure you were lucky! Because there wasn´t enough time! What a pity!  Our candidates for sure are grateful for that!

The last stop was at The Cellars! We entered it at eleven and there was a contest going on! We all won a free Corona so we couldn´t ask for more! There was an eighty´s party with live and it was really fun! We enjoyed our time there until very late…so good luck for today fun-loving candidates!

Next Wednesday we are not going to have Pub Night because we want you to have plenty of energy for Thursday at the Summer Party!!!

See you soon!

Cheers

Irene
