How was your weekend?

What do Granville, Chinese Garden, Playland, Bourbon and Koerners Pub have in common? They all have a ‘N’ in the word. Yes, that’s true. But they also have another thing in common. I visited all these places this weekend. Curious what I did there? Find out in the new ‘How was your weekend?’ blog post.

22501126_10212216658803668_742330225_nFriday around four o’clock people slowly were showing up in Oktoberfest style at the office. We played some German music to get in the mood for the Oktoberfest party. When it was 6 o’clock, it was time to go for the real work and we went off to Koerners Pub at UBC to have a nice Oktoberfest. We drank beers in big cups, sang along with music and danced at the outside stage.

Saturday I woke up. Barely. I knew exactly what I was going to do this day: Nothing! Laying in bed all day watch some Netflix. But when the night arrived, I had to get changed for some more drinks. Because it was the last night for Lara, we went to the Bourbon to celebrate she leaves. Just kidding, I will miss you. We played some beer pong and pool. After all a nice night.

2017-10-16 16.50.47_previewOn Sunday morning we went to the Halloween parade. We had perfect places underneath a heater and we got ourselves some food and drinks. We not only saw scary things, but also a lot of random things. From Chinese dragons to ghost busters, we saw it all. After the parade Lucas and I went to the Chinese Gardens. We learned all about the Yin and Yang of every little detail in the garden. In the night we went to the Fright Nights at Playland. We went into the attractions and haunted houses. I thought they wouldn’t scare me, but I was wrong about that part. In the haunted houses I scared a few times. After trying a BeaverTail we went home. Also had a nice weekend? Share your story at the next PuB NiGHT.

PuB NiGHT Review: The Morrissey Pub

2017-09-13 21.12.28

What a night! Thank you all for joining PuB NiGHT yesterday. When we arrived at the pub, they created a whole area in the back just for us. We had a long table everybody could sit on. And because it was Wednesday, they had a special deal for chicken wings. Only 40 cents per chicken wing.

It was good to see a lot of new faces at the pub night and great to see everybody was making new friends. After a couple drinks and wings, some people were still hungry. We decided to check out the poutinerie at Granville Street before going home. If you want to try some good poutine, this is the place to be. We had a lot of fun and hope to see all of you in Richmond on Saturday.

Smart Saver Vancouver

Today we are going to talk about money, or rather, how to save it. I always like to go shopping here since there are so many stores I don’t have at home. Since it is already mid-June the sales start in fashionland and therefore it is the best time to renew your summer wardrobe.

One of my favourites here is Victoria Secret, especially because this store is so huge and has a lot of options. The best time to go there is now, as soon as you can, since their semi-annual sale already started. Sometimes I am really disappointed by sales because they only take off 20%. It doesn’t really make me jump. Victoria Secret really goes the next level with sales of 50% and up. Besides that they also throw in daily specials on top of that, like bralettes for 5 dollars each. If you want to be up to date with their sales and deals, the best thing to do is sign up for their e-mails. Throughout the year they also have great deals, like a free tote with your purchase over 50 CAD. The semi-annual sale can be hectic though, since they put everything in boxes and women almost fight over pieces. If you don’t want to be part of this jungle, you can also easily shop online, where the semi-annual sale is featured too.

A second store with a semi-annual sale men can also provide from; Bath & Body Works. This store has, in my opinion, some of the best body care, hand soaps and fragrances there is. An unfortunate fact is that you can’t really buy this brand in Europe, except for Italy, Poland, Russia and Turkey.  These places are not around the corner for me, so I will buy in big and the best time to do that is now. Bath & Body Works also has his semi-annual sale now with deals up to 75% off. Besides that they always have good combo-deals throughout the year, like buy 3 products and get 2 products for free.

urbanown

Last but not least: Urban Outfitters. This store has many brands featured besides their own clothing line so there is something for everybody. At the moment they also have a sale going on up to 50% for now, but this changes continuously so keep your eyes open. Besides that the store on Granville Street always has a sale corner where you can find some cheap treasures.

These are just a small grip off all the store sales that are going on at the moment, so if you want your wardrobe updated, get on Granville or Robson Street or go to Metrotown to shop the latest sale items and save some money!

I hope to see you all tonight at the Lamplighter, playing bourbon bingo like fanatics and celebrate Janels last days in Vancouver.

Review: PuB NiGHT at Morrissey Pub

Yesterday’s PuB NiGHT was at Morrissey Pub. It was great to see all these new faces! Thank you for coming!

16684701_10202699907014580_714593829_nMorrissey Pub is a rock bar on Granville. Every day they have a different special and on Wednesday they also have Wings Wednesday like most of the places in Vancouver. On Fridays and Saturdays there is a local DJ playing rock, indie, new wave, Brit Pop and hip hop music. Not the typical pub, right?

A lot of the new candidates came to the PuB NiGHT. It was really great to have a chat with you and to hear about your placement. Besides that, Sebastian had his birthday and 16650834_10208739426185098_2025623304_obrought cake for us. The pub even arranged candles and plates for us! We sang Happy Birthday for him and then we all started to eat the great cheesecake. The atmosphere at the PuB NiGHT was great and suddenly people even started to sing. We sang as loud as we can and after that we started to talk about the INTERNeX song. Last year the INTERNeX family had claimed a song. We still have not decided on a song yet. If you have any suggestions, let us know! Afterwards we figured out there was a photobooth in the pub and tried to fit 5 people in there. Even though we managed to get everyone in there, only 2 people were visible on the pictures.

See you on Saturday at the 24 hours of winter!

Pub Night Review

Who would have thought that some of us got most inspired by the movie Into The Wild?

Speed friending was good fun yesterday at the Morrissey! We know now what colour underwear some of us were wearing and that we love our parents so much that we all see them as our heroes, sweet!

Lately we have been seeing some new faces and it is nice to get to know each other a little better. So that’s what we did. We paired up and started a conversation using a whole bunch of prepared questions. Each talk took four minutes and after this given time everyone moved one seat in order to talk to the next person. Four minutes seems quite long but after a few rounds we found out that chatting for four minutes is not enough and passes by so quickly that we decided to make it five minutes (and sometimes even longer).

Tell us, what is the most interesting you found out about someone you talked to yesterday?

After Speed Friending we hung around a little and some of us decided to go to English bay to check out the Northern Light. Unfortunately, we did not get a tiny glimpse the of this so-called aurora borealis.

Next week we’ve planned great stuff for you guys! Pub night will be on Tuesday, guess where we are going and what we will be doing! Wednesday is Canada Day and we are going to have a blast!

Hope to see all of you on Saturday for our barbecue!
