INTERNeX Canada: Culture Shock!

Hey everybody,

This weekend I want to tell you about my culture shock (experience) when cycling in Vancouver! The second day in Canada I bought a nice looking mountain bike via Craigslist.com. (for just $100!)  I’m used to cycle in The Netherlands and it’s a cheap and fun way for travels.

I thought, it would be easy to move around with a bike. I was wrong.. Vancouver is not that so flat as The Netherlands is. There are a lot of mountains and hills so sometimes the ride feels like a big challenge.
Everyday I cycle around 7 km towards downtown. In this direction it’s really easy. There are only hills that are going down so you can gain some speed! But after work, it’s a hell of a job to climb up those hills. I’m really glad that I bought a mountain bike with a lot of gears. Otherwise it would be to difficult 😉
Now after two weeks I get quite use to this route. The length of my ride is getting shorter and at the same time I work on my fitness as well!

When you are coming from the east the best cycling route is the Adanac Street. It takes you all the way towards downtown Vancouver! All the cars have to yield for you so this makes your route saver and faster. One important thing that you have to remember is wearing a helmet. In the Vancouver area it is permitted to wear one. If you don’t you will risk a fine.. It’s up to you!

Enjoy cycling in Vancouver and stay safe!

Have a good Sunday and enjoy,

Jelle

INTERNeX Canada: How was your weekend?

This weekend we went to Richmond to ride on Go-Karts! We arrived in Richmond Station early but we had to walk a long the field to find the Go-Kart place. After arrived, suddenly started to rain so we were a little worried about the fact that maybe we were not going to can ride! But we put on our helmets and we waited patiently.

But finally our turn come, and was pretty funny! It’s very easy to ride a Kart and we gave a few laps trying to pass each other. But I would like that the cars are faster!  We finished the race tired but happy. And stained with mud…

And coming back home we had a very funny anecdote: the bus driver was charming and he suddenly he switched on the bus speakers and he said: “Let’s see if the European people is smarted than Canadian people. If you don’t pass the test you can’t get off the bus!” And he started to ask us questions like in a quiz show! That was very funny!

In Vancouver, some of us went to a pub to drink something, and then started to rain cats and dogs… the end of the good weather! And you? How was your weekend?

Kisses,

Clara.

INTERNeX Canada: Picture of the week

As you know, last weekend Mercedes and I went to Whistler. The last day, we got up very early in the morning and we went to the forest to do trekking. I told you in an old post that a have a strong high-fear. But at the moment that this picture was taken, I didn’t know anything about trekking, for that reason I’m so happy and relaxing at the photo. And so ridiculous with my helmet…

But finally, it was an amazing experience! It can be a little shocking but is very safe. As you can see at the picture, with all this stuff hanging, is impossible that any accident happens. You have to try it!

Kisses,

Clara.

Special PuB NiGHT – Review

Yesterday we had a special PuB NiGHT going on at the Bourbon on Cordova St. Together with some of our INTERNeX partners we arranged this special event for you! The night started at 9pm when some of our INTERNeX candidates entered the pub. The theme of the party was ‘Been Around The World’ so a lot of people where dressed as their own country. To give you a good example, our candidate Flo from Austria was wearing his ‘lederhosen’ to the event, which was absolutely awesome!

Moose Travel was hosting some fun games during the evening. Some of our candidates wanted to play, so they were divided into teams. In the first round the teams had to crowd surf one of their team members, who had to drink beer with a straw afterwords. The second game was quarter bounce, where the players had to bounce several quarters into a cup. In the last round there was a real battle between the teams. Every team had to pick one team member to battle against the other team. Those persons were blindfolded and were wearing a helmet with an empty can on top of it. In the battle the players had to try to hit the can off the helmet of the other team player! Of course there were prizes to win last night, and team Jet Wild was the winner of the evening! They won Moose Whistler tours, tickets to the Giants playoff game and t-shirts!

The games were a lot of fun to watch and everyone was enjoying themselves. We had no cover, no line up and drink specials the whole evening, so basically we had a GREAT evening! Thanks for coming everyone. Check out the pictures from last night at our Flickr Page. Hope to see everyone next Wednesday!

Cheers,
Your PR-team
