INTERNeX Canada: Volunteer program

Do you feel like you need new experiences? or that you’ve missed something but you don’t know what it is?Or do you just simply love animals and have a passion for helping those that are orphaned or injured? Don’t look further, because a Volunteer program could be the answer for you.

INTERNeX offers a volunteer program as one of our many options for working abroad, where you will be able to feed the passion for animals while doing good in a community.

The volunteering program is the perfect opportunity to make a difference in local communities and wildlife; you can help to rescue and rehabilitate injured animals as well as orphaned animals in Canada or Guyana!

But this is not only an opportunity to help animals, but it is also an opportunity to improve your English, experience different cultures, and travel to a different country!

There are a few requirements that you have to meet to begin your volunteer adventure. First of all, you should definitely have a passion for volunteer work and a love a lot  animals. You should also be physically fit and willing to work with animals! It is definitely a great opportunity if this area interests you!

A volunteer can quite exhausting at times but will definitely be very rewarding.

If you have a passion for helping animals, the environment, or a local community, then check out the INTERNeX website for more information or contact us at pr@internexcanada.com

INTERNeX Canada: About INTERNeX

I really believe that every single thing that happens in your life changes you. All the situations that you live, all the people that you meet… They are the real motive to change ourselves and grow up.

INTERNeX offers us exactly this, the chance to live a new situation, doing new tasks, meeting different people, living and working abroad… that´s  what becomes you in  a better professional and a better person, which is even more important.

Working at the office as a part of a team and not just as an “intern” makes us feel INTERNeX like something real ours. We spent a couple of months here, but we will be always an INTERNeXer!

Lies, one of our interns that already left a couple of month ago, is still part of us! She has been attended different colleges in The Netherlands to promote our services to those students who need to do an internship in their third year. Lydia another INTERNeX PR intern that I didn´t have the pleasure to meet, helped her as well in Den Haag, one of the 3 colleges where Lies promoted.

The both of them have done a great job inside and outside the office during this time. It is a good sign that your interns help you even when they already left, isn´t it? Maybe is because INTERNeX is doing a good work inside and outside the office as well.

Thank you so much girls,

Cheers,

Irene

INTERNeX Canada: Casual Friday – Mario Fighting for Kids

This year six million children will die from hunger related causes and more than 750 children will require treatment for cancer at BC Children’s Hospital. Sadly, those statistics are probably not the first thing you want to hear on this lovely Casual Friday, but it’s true.

I don’t know where most of you are in life, but for myself, I often take my warm house, clean food and water and my healthy body for granted. More than one billion people in the world cannot afford to do so. The past Thanksgiving holiday has made me think about what I can do about these problems that seem so big and untouchable.

This is why I want to tell you about an amazing person and his ambitious goal that I’m so honoured to be a part of:

Meet Mario Schiopu.

Mario is a former Romanian karate champion and has grown up seeing malnourished children in his home country. Yet, he has also seen the generosity of Children’s Hunger Fund in distributing 1 billion dollars in food and other resources to help 10 million children in 73 countries worldwide. As well, Mario witnessed the difficulties of leukemia on his close friend’s son, Adrian last year. Thankfully, with the chemotherapy treatment Adrian received at BC Children’s Hospital, Adrian is now cancer-free and full of energy!

Seeing the positive effect that these charities have brought, Mario feels the need to do something more. Instead of celebrating with an extravagant party for his 50th birthday, Mario has decided to combine his passions of karate and fitness with helping children in need at the same time.

How is he going to accomplish this? Mario will be making a huge comeback in the karate world by fighting at the 2012 Karate BC Provincial Championship on November 17th and 18th. With his knowledge as a nutrition and fitness consultant, Mario is proving that even at the age of 50 he has what it takes to compete and win at this prestigious tournament. Mario is hoping to raise awareness and funds for the two charities very close to his heart – Children’s Hunger Fund and BC’s Children Hospital.

By fighting with everything he has, Mario is committed to helping children who are suffering with childhood diseases or are in desperate need of food. This may seem like such an ambitious goal, but Mario’s heart is definitely big enough.

Cheers,

Queenie

Canada Day

I hope everyone had a great Canada day! On Thursday, myself and some friends went to a Canada Day party (hosted by West Trek and Moose Travel Network) near Jericho beach. There was a barbecue, drinks, music and lots of games!

If you’re not already aware, Moose Travel Network is Canada’s adventure bus system for backpackers, students and “young at heart” travellers. The company was established in 1997 by two Canadian entrepreneurs who wanted to show visitors the real Canada. Inspired by the successful examples set by companies in Australia and New Zealand, they started offering trips from Vancouver and Toronto.

Since then, Moose has carried thousands of satisfied passengers many tens of thousands of kilometers throughout this beautiful country. Moose has built an excellent international reputation for quality service and memorable experiences. If you’re interested in a hop-on, hop-off adventure, we can help you book your trip! Drop by the INTERNeX office and our representatives will inform you of all of their trips and tours happening across Canada! For more information on the Moose Travel Network, visit their website.

Looking for a day trip or a weekend adventure? Well West Trek has taken tens of thousands of ESL students and international travelers on tours to some of Western Canada’s most amazing scenery and attractions.

What began as a one man show back in 1998 has now blossomed into one of Western Canada’s largest tour operations.  West Trek got it’s start running small group camping and canoeing tours.  They offer tours to the Rocky Mountains, Victoria, Whistler, Tofino, Seattle and Portland! INTERNeX can help you book white water rafting trips, wine tasting tours and whale watching tours as well! For more information on West Trek and their services, visit their website.

INTERNeX also offers a variety of events and activities, such as Paintballing and Pub Night! Take a look at our event calendar to see what’s up this month with INTERNeX!

Thank You INTERNeX!

Hi Folks! It’s Tiffany here. So what’s new today?

Well, it’s sad to say that today is going to be my last day at INTERNeX. As most of you are or have been a student once in the past, the calling duties of school is always an issue. With exams coming up, to my dismay, I will be unable to continue my position as a PR Intern at INTERNeX. So, you won’t be seeing me around the office- but perhaps on the street or up at UBC (say hi if you do!)

It truly has been an interesting experience with many memorable memories and rewards. There is no other place I know of with such a diverse working team. From the moment we enter high school, teachers, mentors and our parents have driven the phrase “to be able to work with a diverse group of people” into our minds. It is not until now that I understand what that phrase means. Having worked in several Canadian cultured companies, I find that the work ethics and cultures of these companies are all very similar although diverse in terms of the work you do. At INTERNeX, I was exposed to so many people from different cultures it was a little overwhelming at times. I was given a glimpse of what the working ethics of people from German, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Mexico and France were like. And I can tell you, it’s definitely an eye-opener.

Personally, after this experience, when my friends say “I worked in a diverse team environment”, I can proudly say, “Well, me too, I worked with people from around the world, literally”. The staff at INTERNeX has all treated me very well especially when it came to my difficult school schedule. They have been very accommodating, flexible and excruciatingly welcoming.

Being given the opportunity to intern at INTERNeX, I was able to learn about how this agency operates and all the efforts that go into placing a candidate. My knowledge of IT management was strengthened tremendously due to spending hours in the “dungeon” discussing the evolution of IT and its position in society today. I further developed my social media marketing and promotional skills through preparing promotional design materials and updating our social media networks.

The role of PR Intern at INTERNeX is one that can be very fulfilling. Having been here for one month, I’ve seen improvements in myself in terms of communications skills and confidence level. It’s unfortunate that during my time here, I was unable to plan a couple out of the city trips, but am very glad to have made some amazing friendships with those who came out to Cheesecake Night.

If you have any questions or are very interested in applying into a Public Relations position at INTERNeX and would like some feedback, let the office know and they can pass you my contact.

As for now, thank you INTERNeX for all your gracious help and best of luck to the next intern!
