INTERNeX Canada: Smart Saver Vancouver – The Famous Warehouse!

Want cheap food, but are too lazy to cook at home? The Famous Warehouse is one of my favorite places to grab a quick bite and is often frequented by INTERNeX-ers. First of all, you can’t really go wrong with pub food.

Secondly, everything on the menu is $4.95 – burgers with fries or soup, salads, wings in many flavours, fish tacos, spaghetti with meat sauce and more! You name it and its $4.95.

Well, technically $5.54 with tax (and I know this because Irene and I just went yesterday for lunch!) and $6 with tip.

I don’t think you can do better than this, unless you go to Mcdonald’s, but that’s kind of boring and you can’t have a beer to go with your burger!

Even better on Wednesday’s, they have $0.30 wings and Tuesday is all you can eat tacos for $7!

They have decent portions and though it is not the most luxurious food, you cannot beat the price.

Seeing their original location at Granville is always, always busy with line-ups, they just recently opened a new one on Hastings. So go check it out next time you are craving some delicious greasy food and let me know what you think!

INTERNeX Canada: Smart Saver Vancouver – Halloween Costumes!

There are only 6 more days til’ Halloween, have you got your costume to wear to our Halloween party at The Blarney Stone yet? Don’t stress out, we’ve found some places you may want to visit for that last minute shopping. Best of all, they offer a wide range of costumes and costume supplies that are very affordable.

1. Value Villages or Thrift Stores

This is my first pick because Value Villages or thrift stores all have different items so you should try to go to as many stores as possible. You never know what you might find because the stores tend to get “new” previously owned clothes every day. Most of the used costumes look brand new because most people wear it just once and then give it away, and you will get it at a much cheaper price!

Value Village: 1820 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC (604) 254-4282
or 6415 Victoria Drive, Vancouver, BC 604-327-4434

2. Dressew Supply

This second option might not be so obvious, as it is usually a fabric store, but Dressew is definitely the place to go for that last minute costume. You might even be overwhelmed by the countless props, accessories, wigs and costumes to choose from. Since this is a fabric store, you can make a costume out of fabric if you are the creative type or add missing pieces to the costume you already have.

337 West Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC (604) 682-6196

3. Dollar Stores

Dollar Stores is the cheapest place and has the biggest selection for Halloween makeup and accessories. For that fake blood, glow-in-the-dark stuff and white and black makeup, this is the place to go.

Dollarama: 668 Seymour St Vancouver, BC (604) 662-7543
Your dollar store with more: 1067 Hamilton Street Vancouver, BC (604) 669-6031

To end off, here are some tips for costume shopping:

  • Set a budget and decide how much you want to spend on a costume.
  • Combine new and used items and things you already own.
  • Don’t just look at the costume department; you never know what you might find in parts of a store.
  • Bring a picture for inspiration so you won’t forget the details when shopping.

Happy last minute Halloween shopping!

Queenie

INTERNeX Canada: Smart Saver Vancouver

During one of our lunch breaks, the PR team went down to check out Sunrise Market, which is two blocks down from the INTERNeX office. Tim had recommended this particular grocer because of the cheap prices it offers and raved about it so greatly that we had to go see what the fuzz was about!

Upon arrival, we were confronted with a very crowded store front full of fruits and vegetables. All I could hear from the other girls were how cheap everything was! Here are some examples: 2 large bags of garlic for $1.00, asparagus for $1.49, cherries, cucumbers and a large bag of peppers for $1.00…. Yes, the list goes on.

The only downside is that you have to dig through a little bit because the vegetable produce wasn’t the freshest available, though Tim did warn us beforehand. Who cares when you are getting a bargain?

Address:

Sunrise Market
300 Powell St
Vancouver, BC

(604) 685-8019

Hours: Mon-Sun 7:30 am – 6 pm

You should also check out the rest of the store inside, it may look quite small but there is meat, snacks and other typical food that you may need.

Needless to say, we all went back to the office happy, each with a bag of food in our hands.

Cheers,

Queenie
