What to Do in Vancouver – the perfect fall day

It’s already the first week of october which means the trees are now shining in beautiful autumn colours and the leaves are turning red, yellow and orange – wonderful !
What could be better than enjoying a cozy autumn day with some typical fall acitivites.
So for now let me give you some inspirations for fun fall activities to try:)

1. Maybe you’ve checked our previous instagram story. It was all about the pumpkin patches which opened this week. These places are highly recommended for taking amazing pictures and enjoying your day ( maybe with new friends you met at the INTERNeX pubnight 😉 )
Great pumpkin patches are located in Vancouver, Richmond, Surrey or Langley.

2. Visit a Farmer’s Market
Just strolling around, tasting nice food or drinks and maybe you’ll find the perfect pumpkin for your pumpkin pie or as i like to do, to decorate your apartement. Sounds like a plan.
There’s this fall market right in Vancouver Downtown starting on November 6th.

3. Go for a long walk
Since going for a walk is one of the easiest things to include in a stressful work day you can just take your time to relax a bit. This also has a great affect on your health and may give you new ideas about what you wanna do on the next autumn day.
Additionally, it’s a great experience to take a hike, grab your running shoes or even take a bike ride through Stanley Park. But better do not forget your rain clothes.

4. Autumn and Halloween festivals
What’s fall without Halloween and thinking of where to go and what to wear as the perfect costume already a few weeks in advance 😉 ?
There are many (maybe this year less than usually, but still some) festivals taking place in Vancouver.
In addition, FlyOver Canada has some Halloween theme days till the end of October which are definitely worth a visit.
But don’t forget to bring your vaccination document as well as wearing a face mask all the time. Unfortunately, covid still exists but that doesn’t have to keep us from doing fun activities especially the outdoor ones.

…there are many more fun acitivites but for now i would love to share my perfect fall day with you.
Imagine you’re having a day off to do all the cozy fall things you always wanted to do.
Start your day with pumpkin pancakes and a loong brunch. Definitely a good start in a great day.
After that just grab your jacket and go for a walk in Stanley Park or at the beach. Maybe you can spot some animals or find beautiful leaves and chestnuts for your apartement decoration.
Decorate your place will definitely put you in fall mood 😉
After a long walk you might get a bit cold so it’s the perfect time for a warm coffee or hot chocolate in one of the many cute cafés in Gastown. Take a closer look at the menu… many cafes are offering fall specials such as pumpkin spice latte.
Back home it’s definitely time for changing into comfortable clothes. It’s movie time.
For this season a nice scary horror movie would fit best…but not for me i prefer a love story :D. So if you’re not such a “scared rabbit” (as we say in Germany) enjoy the movie!! A cozy evening at home 🙂

What To Do on the Weekend?

Is it only me or did this week just past so fast? Hope you’re all ready for the weekend because the weather forecast looks really good! 

Let’s start with a fact you might not have known…Tomorrow, March 14th, is INTERNeX Canada’s 21st birthday! Sooo HAPPY BIRTHDAY ! 🙂 Good for us that Tim founded this company in 1999 because otherwise we probably wouldn’t be where we are right now!!

But if you’re still trying to figure out what to do on the weekend – Here are some ideas:

I guess most of you already know, but next week is St. Patrick’s Day. Too bad that it’s on a Tuesday. But actually it doesn’t hold us off celebrating it. We just do our own St. Patrick’s Day event.
So all of you who want to go out on Saturday and have fun (and is 19 or older!) should come to our Pub Crawl tomorrow! We meet in front of Waterfront Station at 8pm. Let’s get green together !!
And for those of you who didn’t know why people celebrate it – Here’s a short summary:
This day remembers St. Patrick – a missionary. He converted many of Ireland’s inhabitants to Christianity in the 5th century.

Of course I do have some suggestions for the minors. Since it’s supposed to be sunny on Sunday you could go to Stanley Park. I can recommend you renting a bike or just stroll around. There’s plenty to discover.

Furthermore, you can go to Lynn Canyon Park. It’s located in North Vancouver. I guess you heard about the Capilano Suspension Bridge. The clue with the bridge is the fact that the entry isn’t for free. At Lynn Canyon Park there’s a suspension bridge too, which might be an alternative for you since this one is for free.
Besides that you can find some walking trails, waterfalls, an ecology centre and more.I hope you have a great weekend! See ya and be safe! xx

How was your Weekend?

I hope all of you had a good weekend – I for sure had (thanks for asking ;-)) On Saturday the INTERNeX-family went to Granville island and we were actually quite lucky with the weather as we had sunshine most of the time.

We met at Yaletown-Roundhouse Station, from where we walked to the aquabus dock. I already guessed before we even started our trip that our ride with the aquabus is going to be exciting and now I can confirm my statement. We had such a good view on the skyline and Granville Island. We got picked up at the dock by a little colourful boat and it took us only approximately 7 minutes to get to the island. So this was a really good start for our trip.

Once we got there we walked straight into the public market, where lots of food was waiting for us. It was overwhelming. There was one stand next to the other and they had such a variety of food – cheese, fish, meat, fruits, vegetables, ice-cream,… One thing for sure, no one has to starve in there and will find something to eat or drink.

But we actually weren’t too hungry so there was just one thing we tried out. I already got the hint from Tim in advance that we HAVE to try out “salmon candy”. It’s a smoked salmon lacquered with maple syrup. You might be thinking, that it sounds really really weird and well, all of us thought exactly the same 😀 But we could bring ourselves to try it out and to be fair, it wasn’t too bad. It just tasted like salmon and while chewing you get this kinda sweet taste. So we’re glad we tried it!

Besides all that food there were so many more shops to look at. We wandered through some souvenir shops and a chocolate one (which I wanted to check out mostly because I was hoping for some free samples to try but I got disappointed. At least it smelled yummy!).

Afterwards we walked along the waterfront and made an enforced stop under a roof since it started raining/snowing (can’t tell what exactly it was) all of a sudden. So we sat down at a table and had a really nice chat. 

All in all we had a fun day with loads of food and great views! Thanks for coming!

How was your Weekend?

No #Raincouver this weekend and we definitely made the best out of it. But no matter if it’s raining or the sun is shining, Vancouver is beautiful with all it’s faces 😉 (Seems like I am getting very emotional these days). 

However the INTERNeX group definitely knows how to appreciate sunshine and therefore we packed our bags and started our Saturday morning fairly early to make the way up to Cypress Mountain. (Or at least most of us …. right Martin? And as you can see in the picture here, this is what you get for being late for the group picture :D).
As the ride itself is already stunning, we had a lot to do with simply looking outside the window and enjoying the scenery. As we reached the mountain we were beyond excited to get ourselves tied up in those snowshoes and hike as we were not to be stopped by anything or anyone.
But it turned out to be a lot harder to find the actual rental place, than expected.
With my mouth wide open and my eyes widened, I had to accept the fact that we had a 30 minute walk ahead of us, to eventually get back down the mountain. Great. But hey, walking was exactly what we were here for anyways right?!

Luckily we are in Canada and the people are just too friendly to be true. As we started to make our way down the mountain, a bus driver stopped right next to us and offered us a lift down to the nordic area – lucky us :-D.  
After getting a short introduction of how to apply those things to our feet, we were good to go. Some of us more than others.
I think after about 2 minutes, I already faced the snow .. “it’s as easy as walking” they said, “you won’t even notice them on your feed” they said … well apparently I don’t know how to walk then. 😀
For the next few hours we found ourselves wandering through the beautiful forest and breathtaking sceneries. Of course there was the one or other race in between to spice things up a bit. And as we felt more advanced on the Snowshoes we even did our favourite line dance with them – we are truly loyal to the one and only Yale Saloon :-D.
The way down the mountain turned out to be way more challenging than the way up. I don’t think there was a single one of us who didn’t sit or lay in the snow at least once. And thanks to that I’ve got like thousands of videos on my phone that will entertain me for a long time. 

Finally, we had the chance to sit together over a few snacks and talk and laugh together.
All that is left to say is – thank you vey much, it’s been such a fantastic day. I had so much fun, and I would like to quote William here: “We were all strangers to each other, now we are friends with memories.” And damn you are so right with that.
Therefore, thank you very much for being simply great!
(As I said, slightly getting emotional this week) 
Sunday was the day of the Super Bowl, but to be honest, you guys will have to tell me how that went, cause I’ve got absolutely no idea.
But I am sure you’ll tell me what I missed this Wednesday at the Yale Saloon.

What to do on the Weekend?

We are leaving an incredibly busy week behind us.
Bertil and Anton won the Cambie-Pong tournament (yeeeeyy – I am honestly very very very proud of you guys!), we had many heartbreaking goodbyes and Vancouver’s streets are no longer streets, but rivers.

Next week is going to be just as busy and also very special to me.
As most of you already know: My time at INTERNeX is coming to an end, as Friday will be my last day of work.
And since there is no new PR-Coordinator here yet, the following weeks will be a little less busy. But don’t you worry – there will be Pub-Nights!
We will be welcoming a new PR-Coordinator in the first week of March, till then please be patient ;-).

However, this weekend we still have a great event lined up for you.
Tomorrow we’ll be heading back out in the snow and try out something new. And by new I mean, I haven’t done it before either. But hey, how hard could it possibly be to put two tennis-rackets on your feet and walk with that right? 😀
No, I don’t want to scare you away. Multiple people told me, that it actually is pretty easy. Apparently just like walking.
Therefore make sure to get yourself a ticket and join us for an adventurous day on Cypress Mountain!
You will find a link and all the details, concerning duration, meeting point and everything else in the same named Facebook event (which is: Snowshoeing on Cypress Mountain).

Sunday is the big game day. The spectacular Super Bowl will be on. Since I literally don’t have any idea about what is going on in American Football-games, I am clearly the wrong person to give you a detailed overview about what is happening. Buuut Demi Lovato will be singing the National Anthem, that’s all I know :-D.
Anyways, in case you want to watch it, you better hurry to make a reservation in on of the many locations that will be showing the game.
