What to do on the weekend

Sun is out and it is almost weekend! I hope you are excited as we are, since it is Canada Day weekend. That means there is a lot to do, especially since the weather forecast is looking great! Since there are a lot of places to go to on Canada day, it can be hard to choose.

If you have no clue yet, it is always easy and super fun to join our trip to Victoria on July 1st. We will meet at Tsawwassen ferry terminal at 8.30 am and from there we will take the ferry to Swartz Bay at 9 am. You can purchase your ferry ticket at the terminal. From Swartz Bay we will use public transport to get to Victoria. There will be free concerts starting at 12 pm at the inner harbour of Victoria and there is a lot to see in general. You can see all the details here.

When you decide to stay in Vancouver, a great place to go is Canada Place. The daytime SONY DSCfestival on Saturday will be held from 11.00 am to 10.00 pm and on Sunday from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. Highlights are live performances, citizenship ceremony welcoming 150 new Canadians, the North Point Lounge serving beer and wine and on Sunday you can enjoy a nice pancake breakfast. But the best of it all must be the fireworks, which start 10.30 pm on Saturday.

If you rather escape the big crowds on Canada day, it can be nice to do some hikes this weekend. The famous Grouse Grind is open now and it will be a great challenge to complete during your stay here. You will find easier hikes in Deep Cove and Lynn Canyon, which will give you great scenery. Besides that the weekend is also there to relax a little bit, and therefore it could be nice to find some peace on one of the beaches of Vancouver. We just uploaded our new episode of the INTERNeX Explorer, where we show you Vancouver’s most famous beaches, so that might be worth checking out!

We wish you a happy (and for some of you long) weekend with a lot of sunshine, red and white shirts, and we hope to see you all in Victoria tomorrow!

INTERNeX Explorer Ep4 – 2017 behind the scenes

The fourth episode is already online for a week again, so we wanted to give you a little peak behind the scenes. It gets easier and easier every time. Since I now know how to make the scripts, do the filming, the voice-overs and editing.

April was the month of the big Rockies trip. Since we always make after movies of the trips we do, I also needed to develop a video of the Rockies. This was a rough part for me to do, because there was so much material and we had so many great moments there. It makes it hard to choose what material you want to feature in the episode. So once I was done there was a video of about 3 minutes, which is way too long. With a little pain in my heart I started deleting and cutting scenes. I hope it still captures the experience we had in the Rockies and you like it.

Another challenge was that Danielle was not here for filming since her family was visiting her, which is amazing of course! When I was writing the scripts I didn’t realise this though, so I just made a script for her. When I found out she wasn’t here we had to change fast, which meant I was suddenly in front of the camera. So in this episode you may see my face quite a lot.

On the other hand I had so much fun making this video again. Especially wheninternexexplorerapril I had to go on a little fieldtrip in North Vancouver with Iris. After taking the sea bus we first decided to have some ice cream, because you can’t film on an empty stomach. Besides that it was such a beautiful day, which made filming and walking around not a problem at all. We took a little advantage of it and had some lunch outside in the sun. It probably was the best “office-day” of the entire month, especially because when we got back Danielle’s boyfriend arrived and we went to the Lamplighter with all the colleagues to celebrate.

If you haven’ t seen the episode yet, you can see the video below.

Hope to see you all in The Pint tomorrow!

PR-team Adventures

It is always exciting to work at INTERNeX. Almost every week there is something happening here and so did Friday.

It is always hard to miss your boyfriend for such a long time and Daniëlle knows all about that. Her boyfriend left the Netherlands for his internship at the beginning of the school year and they would not see each other till the end of August. This meant that they would not see each other for a whole year. Little did she know that he planned to come over for 2 weeks as a surprise.

He already planned it for months and told Daniëlle that he would not be able to visit her. This all made sense to her, as he had been spending a lot of money during his internship and therefore could not afford a flight to Canada. Her boyfriend planned everything 18155568_10209359822974630_141733640_naround it; the days off, the flight and getting picked up from the airport.

Friday was the big day, Daniëlle’s boyfriend would arrive in the afternoon and we had to keep her busy till he would arrive. It was good timing that I had to film for INTERNeX Explorer the whole day, as I am very bad in keeping secrets. It was therefore no surprise that I only found out about it a few days beforehand. Simon had been teasing her the whole day and said that we would get a surprise in the afternoon. I think it was good that she did not know that the big surprise was for her, as she just said that she hates surprises.

When Daniëlle finally saw her boyfriend walking towards her, you could see that she was overwhelmed by different kind of emotions. “What are you doing here?” was the first reaction she had on her big surprise. That reaction totally made sense to me, because it must have been very confusing to see your boyfriend in Canada while he was supposed to be in the Netherlands. After that she was kind of in shock, but overall she looked really happy to see him again.

It was great to see both of them reunite in Canada and I hope they have a great time together!

INTERNeX Explorer Ep3 – 2017 behind the scenes

The third episode is already online since April 1st, and that is not a joke, although we had a big laugh again with filming the scenes for this episode.

IEX episode 3.pngThis months episode was a bit more challenging since time ran out fast with all the other tasks we have. Besides that Janel’s mom visited Vancouver, so we had to miss Janel for a week. Because of that the filming was all over the place this month, while normally we film almost everything in one week.

For the informational part we decided to inform you a bit more about Yaletown, a gorgeous part of downtown with a thriving fashion district, nice boutiques and restaurants with patios. This will be the perfect place to blow of some steam during your lunch break if your office is in downtown. Unfortunately the nickname raincouver really came true this month, and we didn’t find a shiny day outside to shoot. Finally the sun was there on March 30th, two days before the deadline. We quickly went outside to shoot the entire Yaletown part with Danielle.

We were so happy that we finally filmed everything, but at the same time Thursday already came to an end. This meant there was only one day to edit the entire video, which can be quite stressful. Normally we spread the editing part over a few days, so we have fresh and creative minds every time. It was an intense day to get everything right: all the videos in the correct place, the voice-overs on the right spot and some green screens we needed to cover with lovely pictures.

So we hope you enjoyed watching the video, because there was some blood, sweat and tears involved (just kidding, we had ice creams). If you did not watch the video yet, shame on you! But you can find the video below ☺

Hope to see you all at PuB NiGHT tomorrow!

INTERNeX Explorer Ep2 – 2017 Behind the scenes

Maybe you already noticed that the second episode of INTERNeX Explorer has been online since Wednesday. Every first day of the month we publish a video in which we inform you about Vancouver and all the activities we organize for you. Besides that, there is also a good laugh in the video. However, it is not only funny for you guys, we certainly have quite some fun making these videos.

Everybody in the PR-team has their own projects to work on at INTERNeX and developing the INTERNeX Explorer is one of my projects. I chose this one because I like making and editing videos. Besides that, my head is always full of ideas and I want to learn more about developing my ideas into products. So I am learning more about filming, video editing, photoshop and illustrator at the moment, which I really like!

I had to start of with giving mstoryboardy ideas for the next video a “coat”. This meant I had to write scripts and draw some storyboards, which was a pain in the ass for sure, since you have to draw the entire scene for maybe 1 second of film. After dividing the parts and getting some props, it was time to start filming. First some small green screen scenes, which were quite easy and after that Janel and I had a little trip outside the office in Chinatown. With Janel as camerawoman and Tess who strolled the streets, a new dream team was born. Besides some shaky scenes and weird
faces into the camera, we were really proud of the results!

And after shooting comes… editing! Editing definitely takes a lot of time and work. I had lots of fun editing the Kelowna part, but Simon is our real editor and did the rest of the video while I was sitting next to him agreeing or disagreeing. After a lot of cuts, precision work, and some small changes from episode 1, episode 2 was done!

If you haven’t already seen it, check out our second episode of the INTERNeX Explorer:

I hope you like to watch the videos we make and I hope I will learn more every month and become a real pro at it! ☺

INTERNeX Explorer Ep1 – 2017 Behind the scenes

This week we posted our first episode of the INTERNeX Explorer. We are planning to publish an episode every month. Our new show will include some cool spots in and around Vancouver, upcoming trips and events as well as a review of the previous month. We hope to inform and entertain you with our little show we call the INTERNeX Explorer.

It was lots of fun making the first episode. We started with writing our own scripts. The hardest part was coming up with some interesting fun facts about ourselves. However, with some help from each other, we all figured out what to write. ix-explorer_ep1-2017Afterwards the filming finally started. As it was the first time we were being filmed, we were all a bit nervous, which made us forget our text sometimes. Luckily, we had our scripts near by and quite some time available to shoot the video. Janel had the chance to practice her news reading skills and also had to point to pictures which were not here and added in post. As she never did that before, it was a bit awkward.

The most difficult part was the part of the future events. First Danielle kept touching the green screen, as she wanted to put her jacket on. We therefore decided it would be easier if she was already wearing the jacket. But of course that meant she was getting hot wearing the jacket the entire time while filming. It was sometimes hard to stop laughing when we were shooting the part of future events. Simon had to sit in a very uncomfortable position on his knees outside the view of the camera to give Danielle the ski sticks.

After the shooting was done Simon and Tess had to do the editing. The postproduction of the video seemed to be the hardest part of our whole process. A lot of footage had to be viewed and in the end some music had to be found. The final cut went to some reviews and the entire team had to be alright with it. Simon said we can be proud of our first video and also that we will improve with every episode. We hope you agree with him and look forward to produce the next episode with him.

If you haven’t already, check out our first episode of the INTERNeX Explorer:

I hope you will enjoy the video and I am looking forward to hearing your comments!
