Candidate Exposé – Daniel Blumhein

My name is Daniel and I am a 20 year old guy from Germany. Currently I am studying economics in a dual way. That means that I study for three months and then work for the next three months.

I found INTERNeX because of my university (DHBW VS). I did a practicum, because I wanted to experience the Canadian work life. I did my practicum at a NGO which tries to establish Tennis in British Columbia. I like it there, because everybody is so kind and chilly. You have to be very communicative. It was part of my university program.

I decided to go to Canada because of the diversity (e.g. landscape). Vancouver is a beautiful city and I liked the high mountains. I was surprised that such a big city can provide you so many different activities (sea, mountains…). I lived in a home stay via INTERNeX. I like the kindness of Canadians.

Daniel

I participated in the activities INTERNeX organized. It’s the best way to meet new people. The first thing I did when I was home was spending time with my family. This trip inspired me to travel more. I am very interested in South America. INTERNeX was very helpful to meet new people, find the practicum and the homestay.

Candidate Exposé – David Kabat

My name is David, I’m 21 years old, from Sweden and originally born in Poland. My future study it’s going to become a high school teacher in biology/chemistry.

20170812_153305 - david kabatI decided to go to Canada because I want to learn and improve my English and explore the second biggest country in the world. I found INTERNeX from another organization in Sweden. It was thanks to my school back home as well. I got very good support through the whole process from applying for a working holiday visa to having a place when I arrived in Vancouver and an introduction about the city, transportation, tax.

I chose the work & travel program. It was the best option for me, because back then I just finished high school. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I had the possibility to work, get new experience and learn to be more independent. The best part was to meet new friends from almost  all around the world.

Right now I live with a roommate in downtown. I found it thanks to a friend.

My first impression was great. The nature, mountains and my biggest surprise was how open and kind people are here, completely different from back home.

David KabatThe events INTERNeX organized were the best. I attended lots of INTERNeX events. This is the best time for spending time with your friends, making new friends and welcome new people. Of course I had lots of fun during pub nights and trips. I did lots of hikes in places close to Vancouver. I have also been to Tofino, Victoria, Rocky Mountains and Whistler.

Vancouver is a safe city, there is a lot of nature and art in the city. It is a very multi-cultural city I could feel free in. The most memorable thing I did was bungee jumping in Whistler and the Rocky Mountain trip. The first thing I will do when I am going home is meeting friends and family and starting school again from my break.
