PuB NiGHT Review: Malone’s

If you are reading this, you are probably aware of INTERNeX’ weekly PuB NiGHTs. Every Wednesday, we visit another pub and the day after, we write a blog post about the night. So, that’s what brought me here today.

43372911311_68b7059928_nYesterday, it was time to reunite at a pub we had’t visited in months: Malone’s. As always, we walked into the pub and told the waiter we had a reservation for INTERNeX. And that’s where the first thing went wrong…: We arrived at our tables and as always, there was a ‘reserved’ sign. However, instead of ‘INTERNeX,’ it said ‘Increnex’. I mean… potayto, potahto. Well, not really. But oh well, we forgive and forget. We sat down, looked at the menu and ordered our first drinks. Personally, I like to start off a PuB NiGHT with a Baileys Coffee, before I order the drink I’d like to call I-do-not-really-like-you-but-you-are-the-cheapest-drink-on-the-menu: beer.

After some time went by, more and more of you came to join us on this lovely, sunny evening. Every time someone arrived, and after a casual “Hi! How are you doing?”, we – gently – held a Rocky Mountains flyer in front of the person’s face. Why? Well, this is the destination of the monthly weekend trip in August and we do not want any of you to miss out on this amazing adventure! Since the trip is happening in a little more than three weeks, it was one of the main topics last night. Alongside, of course, this month’s trip which took place last week: Vargas Island. I had to miss out on this one, which is why I loved hearing all the fun(ny) stories you all told me. Especially the one about Stefan’s mat going missing while Samuel was living a luxurious life.

When we finished talking about trips, shopping and work, it was time for some action. Let’s play: Cheat! Yes, you read that correctly. ‘Cheat’ is a card game, the aim of which is to get rid of your cards. In order to do so, you have the option to lie about the cards you’re playing. However, if someone thinks you are lying and they are correct, you have to pick up the entire pile of cards. If you spoke the truth, they get the pile. As you might guess, it was a fun game that included lots of laughter. Considering we stayed at the pub until midnight, when it closed, ‘fun and lots of laughter’ described the night itself.

I hope you all enjoyed it as well. I hope to see you all this Sunday for our Grouse Grind hike!

PuB NiGHT Review: The Relish Pub

Another PuB NiGHT, in another pub, but with familiar faces. Yesterday, the INTERNeX candidates and the PR-team had a seat in the Relish Pub. For the first time since January, this pub was the place to be on a Wednesday evening.

And being in this pub was not the only first-timer of the night. It was the first PuB NiGHT for our new PR-team member Elisabeth, too. As well as for several candidates, who have only been here for a few weeks or even days so far. We were sitting at 3 different tables, because we were with so many people! This is also why I decided to switch my spot every now and then. It’s nice to talk to all of you and I enjoy listening to your stories about your life here in Vancouver.

But as sad as it is, there were also people that joined our PuB NiGHT for their last time. Linus and Lore are leaving Vancouver soon. Their time here with INTERNeX has come to an end, unfortunately. So, we had one, two or three (maybe even more) last beers together. We even signed a Canada flag with our names and personal messages that serves as a memory. We’ll miss you guys! Have a safe trip, I’m sure we’ll see each other again somewhere in this world!

I hope you all enjoyed the PuB NiGHT as well!

PuB NiGHT review: 131 Water

The same procedure as every Wednesday: meeting up at a pub, talking and having fun. But obviously, not every PuB NiGHT is going down the same way. Here’s the short story of last night.

It’s 7.15pm. The INTERNeX PR-team is 45 minutes early for the PuB NiGHT. But of course, this didn’t stop us from going to 131 Water sooner. We ordered our first round of drinks and decided to play a game: Rummikub. 2 winners and 1 loser later, the first candidate showed up. It was Toni, who had her last PuB NiGHT here with us in Vancouver.

The more time passed by, the more of you joined us at our big table. And look: several drinks, laughs and talks later, another last-PuB-NiGHT-candidate came: Sebastian. And while the last few people just showed up, some of you were already heading home. Why? Well, it was getting late already and some of you are responsible adults that want to be fit for the next day at work. Good for you!

When 131 Water closed its doors at 11pm (which is actually still very early), many of us were not ready to go home yet. So, we decided to head to another bar. After paying our bills, we walked outside, crossed the street and within 2 minutes, we were sitting at a table at the Lamplighter. Everyone enjoyed 1 or 2 more drinks. Suddenly, it was already 1:30am. Once again, time flew by fast.

Thank you for the great night, see you all for our barbecue on Friday!

PuB NiGHT Review: The Lamplighter

“But I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more, just to be the man who walks a thousand miles to fall down at your door …“ I still had these lyrics in mind when waking up this morning. Why this song? Of course, one of our favourite karaoke songs at PuB NiGHT!

Before all the crazy singing started, we spent a few hours in The Lamplighter, a pub in Gastown. They offer a broad range of drinks, so everybody could choose their favourite one. Everybody just settled in, when we heard a famous voice again “It’s time for some Bourbon Bingo!”. So, everybody got sheets and daubers (really cool pens to mark your numbers) and we played some rounds. This time, I was the lucky one who managed to get a round of shots for the INTERNeX gang.

Pub Night 1

The time passed by quickly while telling stories about Salt Spring Island, but also future plans were discussed. I am always happy to see some new faces at our table, as it was the case yesterday. No matter, if someone arrived yesterday or six months ago, there are always good talks. Since half of our PR-Team is leaving soon, many of you signed the Canadian flags of Mandy and Bart. What a nice souvenir for them!

A few hours later, it was time to say hello to our well-known karaoke DJ at the Met. The papers for desired songs were filled in fast and soon old and new teams had the chance to grab the microphone. As it was Bart’s last pub night, he gave again the best to entertain the pub with his all-time favourites. I am sure your heart will go on in Vancouver, even if you cannot sing in the Met in the next weeks.

I hope you enjoyed this night and I will see you all again next Wednesday!

INTERNeX Canada: PuB NiGHT Review!

Yesterday, we went to Steamworks for our weekly pub night! It was great because so many people came out (especially some who never have before). I guess they finally decided to join the dark side. But I’m sure it was also because of the Rockies trip! We were all so excited that we couldn’t stop talking about it. We discussed what to pack, what to bring, and how much were are going to enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend.

Life is so much better when you go out to drink during the week, isn’t it? Just wait until the Summer finally starts rolling in…with hot weather and gorgeous sunsets in Vancouver, you’ll be dying to come out to our pub nights every day!

Actually, there is another reason why I love our weekly pub nights. You get to know everyone a lot better at these events. The more time you share with that person, the more you’ll know about them.  These nights are for  personal stories, laughing together at funny jokes, and sharing great memories. It’s always a good time at INTERNeX pub nights and I also get learn so much about every one.  Who doesn’t want to be around these bunch of lovely people?

Thank you all for coming 😉

Cheers,

Flora
