White Water Rafting Review

What an amazing weekend!! We hope you had so much fun as we had. On Saturday the 7th of June was THE day were our awesome rafting trip started. Our crazy tour guide Lee from WestTrek picked us at 2pm with a sweet van on Waterfront station up and we made our way to Chilliwack. On our way we stopped of course to get some snacks and drinks (a lot of drinks ;)) for the campfire that night.

We arrived in Chilliwack around 4pm and after we setting up our tents (which mostly we girls did!!), close to a big camp fire place, we started playing volleyball, which was pretty fun. Of course we started already drinking, so you can imagine how funny the volleyball match was. At around 6pm our dinner was ready. There was a buffet with good food, we enjoyed the food while sitting outside in the sun. After dinner we went straight back to the volleyball court and had a exiting match agains the yellow team (high school kids) which of course we won ;).

After the beach volleyball match it was time to start the campfire. We all gathered around the campfire. We spend the whole night drinking, kind of singing, looking at the stars and sharing crazy stories and watch crazy Alex falling down 🙂

The next morning we woke up at around 8am in the morning for a great breakfast with pancakes, eggs and coffee. After a safety talk, which made everybody scared as hell, it was finally time to go Rafting!!! They brought us to the river in old retro school busses and we went on the river with 3 boats with in total about 25 people. There were lots of crazy rapids and the surrounding was stunning! After rafting for about an hour we stopped and dragged our boats on shore. We hiked up to an amazing waterfall and walked through the waterfall, it was breath taking! When we got back in our boats and on the river the rapids kept getting bigger and faster. Three hours later we got back to camp, but it was not over yet! For the real Die Hards there was the possibility to go back on the river again and experience the biggest rapids. Of course all the INTERNeX candidates were up for that. We went back on the river, it was insane! The river was super wild, awesome!

After we came back to the camp our lunch was already waiting for us. We had a last volleyball match and than we made our way back to Vancouver. We arrived in Vancouver around 4pm. Of course we have all the picture on Flickr.

I hope you guys had so much fun as we had 🙂

INTERNeX Canada: Rocky Mountains Trip Review!

Last weekend was an unforgettable experience for all 17 of us who went to the Rocky Mountains trip. Watching the beautiful scenery of snowy mountains and lakes really made me think how much I took Canada for granted. The bus we went on was named the “party bus” and it was a perfect fit.

Our West Trek tour guide, Lee, was amazing. Man, I don’t know how this guy had so much energy, considering we partied every night and woke up super early. And quite honestly, it was Lee who really made this trip so special for all of us. He has got the BEST jokes, music, games, and impressions of different accents with a comedic spin to it! Some inside jokes I will always remember are: BeCARFEUL monsieur! Japanese girl: ahhhhh~ and hi-cheese~!

Another great thing about this trip was the gorgeous weather. We really were a lucky bunch because it was sunshine and blue skies everyday! And because of this, we got to see all of Mount Robson, which is super tall! On our way to Valemount, we got off to look at spahat falls. It was so nice there!

The second day, we made our way to Banff, Alberta. This place was my favorite hotel! During the evening we went to their local pub and club for another night of partying! It was a lot of fun because everyone was drinking and having such a great time. One of the most memorable experience for me personally was the Columbia icefield. It’s a huge place and it was so windy! I thought I was going to be blown away by the wind. Regardless, the icefield was one of my favorite places in the Rocky Mountains. One person said he would come back to get married there…I won’t say who it was 😉

During this trip we went to so many beautiful places such as Lake LouiseBow Lake, Emerald Lake, and of course Banff Gondola! On the way home, in Kelowna, we all stopped for a small lunch break. Unfortunately, someone from the other tour bus wandered off! We all tried to look for him..our tour group suddenly turned into a huge search party. The police got involved and we waited for a couple of hours. Although it was stressful…I think it really brought all of us on the tour even more closer. We really bonded…and like Lee said, we were a wolf pack.

Overall…this trip is something that will be with me forever. I had such a great time and I hope everyone who went did too. If you missed out on this, don’t worry because I am 100% sure there will be another one quite soon!

Cheers,

Flora

INTERNeX Canada: Highlights of the week – Rockies Video!

Well that’s an easy one this week. Of course, our trip to the Rockies was THE ultimate highlight of the last couple of months. So many incredible views and moments jam-packed into four days – it was unreal!! Lately, I had been wondering a lot what the actual reason for me to return to Canada was. Was it a place, a person, a feeling or just something my heart told me to do based on what I had experienced over here? It might be a little bit of everything but right now I know it’s Canada’s unparalleled natural beauty which played a big part in it too. The mountains, lakes, rivers and sheer vastness of this part of the world stole my heart for the second time. Sorry Mom and Dad, I’m not coming home anytime soon.

What made our time in the Rockies different to an ‘ordinary’ road trip was our great partner West Trek Tours who did an amazing job in displaying what their beautiful country has to offer. Our “fun and friendly Canadian tour guide” Lee made the many hours on the bus go by super quickly and definitely knew how to make us laugh, sing and dance! And everything at once to a cheesy Backstreet Boys song, can you imagine?! 😀 I am very safe to say that every single person had a blast and dreamed his or her own perfect little ‘Canadian Dream’ last weekend! We’re sad it’s over but happy about the sunny days and good times we shared. In the end it’s the memories that will always be ours and if you’re curious about what we got up to, Lee took about 400 pics and put a slide show together for everyone to enjoy. Tipp: Make sure you watch it all the way to the end. 🙂

Unfortunately, I not only had tons of fun on the long weekend (including lots of beer and hours outside in the freezing cold) but also got really sick and could not attend our weekly PuB NiGHT on Wednesday for the very first time ever! It came as a shock to some of you, I know. 😉 I hear everyone enjoyed the night at The Lamplighter Public House though, and many old and new INTERNeX-ers hung out and got to know each other better over a couple of drinks! Sounds great!!

Looking forward to seeing you guys tomorrow at the Giants game!

Cheers

Marianne
