What to do on the weekend ?

Hello boys and girls!

Another week is over, so we will check out what is going on in Vancouver this weekend. It seems that the weather will not be so good (Saturday cloudy/sunny, Sunday rain), but this would not stop our activities.

All of you should know, that there is the Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival from Friday, June 21 to Sunday, June 23. The huge three-day event will take place around the creek at Concord Pacific Place, Creekside, and of course, in the waters.  The city´s biggest Dragon Boat celebration will also feature live music, entertainment, food, shopping, family fun, and local artisans.  It is definitely worth a visit! There will be no entry fee.

In addition to that the International Jazz Festival 2019 takes place this weekend in Downtown Vancouver. If you are interested in Jazz music, you should come to the Robson Square. The festival lasts two days, namely on the 22nd and 23rd June. You don´t have to pay for a lot of concerts. On both days different musicians are going to perform between 12pm and 9pm. To see the exact entry-free concert program, look at the website www.vancouversbestplaces.com .

Finally I want to remind you of our INTERNeX event on Sunday. We have planned a Barbecue at the Spanish Banks Beach. If you look at the current weather report, there will be rain on Sunday. And a Barbecue in the rain is definitely not fun.

Due to that we will go out for Burger eating all together. We reserved a table on Sunday, the 23rd June at the White Spot (405 Dunsmuir St, Vancouver, BC V6B 1X4) at 6pm.

We would be very happy if a lot of you come along for eating burgers with us. 48002939878_390603280c_o.jpeg

Those who have already paid for the BBQ can either pick up their money in the INTERNeX office or get it back at the dinner on Sunday.

Enjoy your weekend☺

What to do on the weekend?

Another week is about to end… So, what does that mean? Yes, correct: Week + end = weekend! 🎉 And this time it’s double the fun, because we have the Monday off as well. So, get yourself ready for three days of weekend.

Saturday:
If you crave some good live music, you should definitely pay a visit to North Vancouver. This Saturday, you will find live music at two different locations: In the Shipbuilders’ Square you can listen to “The So Tight Band” from 5pm to 10pm and in Cates Park you get the chance to tap your feet along to the music of “Asi Somos”, “The Acoustic Ghosts” and “Symentha”.

It won’t be too hot on Saturday, so you can also spend your time going for a 43548823282_5c37cc6a14_nbeautiful hike. Recommended hiking trails are in Deep Cove, Lynn Canyon Park, Lighthouse Park, or if you dare, the Grouse Grind. In case the $15 for the Grouse Mountain Gondola down scare you from hiking up there, I have good news for you: The BCMC trail allows you to hike down as well, but be aware that it’s a very steep slope, so it’s not the most advisable.

In the evening, you should not miss out on the Celebration of Light. The team from South Korea is hosting the firework show of the evening. 🎆🎇

Sunday:
If you’d rather dance, instead of just listening to music, you should come to Robson Square Salsa. As indicated in the name of the event, it’s at Robson Square. Come at 3pm and enjoy four hours of Salsa dancing. You don’t need to have any prior experience and you can also just come and watch. Don’t worry, it takes place every week. So if you enjoy it, come back the following week and build up on what you’ve learnt.

Monday:
Yes, this weekend we have one extra day. Time to just do whatever we want to. Good news for that day: The weather, which had a little setback the past days, will get better38041918_10156414332729647_7304010023389102080_nagain. So, just grab your friends and spend an easy day at the beach. Vancouver has a lot of beaches to offer, so even if you think you’ve seen them all, you might find a new one. The most popular ones are: Kitsilano Beach, Sunset Beach, English Bay, Second and Third Beach. But there is one in Deep Cove and at CRAB park as well. They’re small, but definitely worth a visit.

I hope you’ll enjoy the weekend and have an amazing time doing whatever you decide to do! 🙂

See you either on Saturday for the Rockies Trip or latest on Wednesday at the Beaver Bar!

What to do on the weekend?

It’s Friday so… cheers to the weekend! I don’t know about your Friday night plans, but mine are pretty cool if I may say so myself. What I’m doing? Well, I’m going to the Rogers Arena to see Harry Styles Live on Tour. I bought my tickets about a year ago, so it is safe to say I am very excited about it. (There are still a few tickets left, in case you’re interested). But before my excitement takes over, let me tell you about the events happening in Vancouver this weekend.

According to the weather forecast, it will be rainy this Saturday. However, the temperature will be around 21 degrees, so as long as you have an umbrella, you should be good to go. Now the weather issue is solved, we are left with just one more: what to do? But don’t you worry, I got you!

Carnaval del Sol, the largest Latin American festival in the Pacific Northwest, is taking place in Vancouver this weekend. On Saturday as well as Sunday, visitors can enjoy live music, Native Canadian and Latin American art, traditional folk dances, cooking lessons and a fashion show. All with the purpose of celebrating Latin America! If you enjoy learning more about other cultures and partying, this is THE event for you. Entrance is only $2 by donation for adults. Tip: Buy a Super Pass for $10 so you can receive gifts, skip the line at e.g. the beer garden and… wait for it: you can win a trip for two to Latin America! The festival opens at 11am, closes at 10pm and it is located at Concord Pacific Place.

20872046193_b77294e20c_n.jpgIs the World Cup all you have been talking about the past couple of weeks? Well, then you might be interested in the next event I am about to mention. On Saturday evening, the Vancouver Whitecaps will play against Chicago Fire at BC Place. It starts at 7:30pm and lucky for you, there are still some tickets left! You can buy them here.

It’s the weekend of festivals! Besides the one I mentioned earlier, there is another one on Commercial Broadway. The Commercial Drive Car-Free Festival, to be exact. This festival commenced in 2005 and has taken place on a yearly basis ever since. 9317994916_5cd2675451_n It covers 15 blocks in the area and includes live music, community activities, local artisans and a wide variety of great food to choose from. Moreover, the message behind the festival will be discussed. It is opened from 12pm until 7pm and there is no entrance fee. FYI: TransLink will re-route the Commercial Drive bus this Sunday, in order for the festival area to be as accessible and car-free as possible.

I hope all of you will have a great weekend and I will see you next Wednesday at Malone’s for PuB NiGHT!

What to do on the weekend?

It’s Friday again which means that the weekend is just around the corner! If you don’t know yet what you want to do on the weekend then keep on reading because we are going to give you some tips!

Since it is almost December, there are already a lot of Christmas events going on. Like for example you can go to the Capilano Suspension Bridge to see the Canyon Lights.

22799557324_a99330f147_zOn Saturday you can also visit the Surrey Tree Lighting Festival which include family friendly activities, holiday crafts, food trucks, live entertainment and the lightning of a 55-foot Christmas tree. Also the Vancouver Christmas market located at the Jack Pool Plaza started this week. This Christmas market is an European-style market that’s great for holiday window shopping and festive things to eat. There is on most days (especially weekends) also live music.

If you don’t feel like Christmas yet than you can also go to the Disney on Ice show or Cirque du Soleil which are both still in town.

And the INTERNeX family will go to Seattle this weekend to do some sightseeing and of course some Black Friday Shopping!

We hope you all have an amazing weekend and we’re looking forward to see all of you tomorrow for Seattle!

What to do on the weekend

It is finally Friday and it only takes a few more hours till we finally can enjoy the weekend. If you don’t have any plans for the weekend yet, then check out this blogpost for some inspiration!

36466811465_3540120658_oOn Sunday the INTERNeX gang is going to explore Stanley Park by bike. By doing this, we can cover more ground, which means that we will be able to see more of Stanley Park. Besides that you will finally experience Vancouver in the most Dutch way!

If you rather do sports, then the KitsFest is the place to be! This is a 3 day sports festival taking place in Kitsilano. You can do yoga, volleyball, water polo, basketball and many other sports. Besides that there is also a DJ playing music throughout the day. The festival starts today and will take place till Sunday.

You can also watch the great baseball team of Vancouver, the Vancouver Canadians. They will have a match against Everett Aquasox at the Nat Bailey Stadium. If you are not able to get a ticket anymore, then you can also watch the game in one of the sports bars in Vancouver.

This weekend is the opening weekend of PNE. The whole weekend you are able to get in for only $1.50 if you wear red or a Canadian maple leaf and arrive between 11 AM and 1 PM. Normally PNE is pretty expensive, so by going this weekend you will save quite some money. There are also shows, vendor markets and live music, so it is definitely worth checking out!

I hope to see you all at the Stanley Park bike ride!
