Whistler Day Trip Review

Back from the long weekend! Did everyone have an amazing time and do fun stuff? We sure did!

Past Sunday, August 2nd we went on a day trip to Whistler Village with West Trek. Our tour guide Madison did an awesome job!
After meeting up early in the morning our first destination took us to Shannon Falls which is located right before Squamish. There we spent 20-30 minutes checking out the waterfall before jumping back onto the bus for our real goal.
Arriving in Whistler Madison first showed us the top spots and highlights of the village before letting everyone roam free.
In our group we had 3 brave girls doing some zip-lining while the rest of us checked out the highest and longest lift in the world. The Peak 2 Peak Gondola spans over 3km between Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Mountain with the highest point being 436 meters. Up there we were able to glimpse amazing views!
After this though we were looking forward to another point on our itinerary and that was jumping into the waters of Lost Lake. It was just perfect on a day when we had +30°C! Too bad we couldn’t stick around the lake for too long since it was already time to leave soon after.

Following our departure from Whistler we made another stop but this time at Brandywine Falls. The sight of the waterfall there was even more spectacular than Shannon Falls.

We finally returned to Downtown Vancouver in the evening where everybody said their farewells and went on their own ways.
It was definitely a day well spent! Thank you to everyone joining this trip and of course a big thanks to West Trek.

Cheers!

Review: Whistler Trip

We are back from our amazing trip to Whistler. Unfortunately Henrik was sick and not able to join the trip, so we were just a small group of 7 people, but however we had a really great time.

We headed off for our adventure with the bus Saturday, September 27, at 10:30 am and arrived in Whistler round about 1 pm.  After a short time of confusion we got the right bus to our Hotel, Coast Backcomb Suites at Whistler. The Hotel was pretty nice, we got two big rooms, each with a kitchen, a balcony, a bedroom and a small living room.

After the check in some of us went out to go horseback riding, which was pretty cool. The horses were well behaved and we saw the Alexander Waterfalls, which was really amazing. Our tour guide was pretty cool and looked like a real cowboy, he told us some really funny stories and even offers us a job as a tour guide, because he always need some.
The rest of the group went through Whistler Village, which is pretty nice with all the small shops, and enjoyed the sun.
In the evening we cooked some spaghetti with tomato sauce. It wasn’t the best dinner we ever had, but it was eatable. Of course it was also time to start drinking some cider and beer. Since it is allowed to drink alcohol even in the hot tubes, we took our bottles with us and enjoyed lazing around in the hot tubes. The hot tubes closed at 10 pm so it was time for us to go out to explore the Night Clubs in Whistler. You can imagine we had a really great night.

Unfortunately we couldn’t avoid a little hangover on Sunday, but after the breakfast with some muffins and waffles we all felt better. We checked out and left our bags at the hotel. During the boys went to Lost Lake just to hang out in the sun, the girls went up to the Whistler Mountain with Whistler Village gondola. Up on the Mountain we hiked to Harmony Lakes, which was really beautiful. We had amazing views over Whistler and the Mountains and totally enjoyed the fresh mountain air. Since the Olympic Winter Games 2010 were placed in Whistler as well, of course we had to take some pictures in front of the Olympic Rings. The bus back to Vancouver picked us up at 4:30. We arrived really tired but happy in Vancouver at 6:30.
I hope you guys enjoyed the trip as much as I did.

Because of Thanksgiving and Halloween there is no overnight trip in October but I hope many of you will join our next overnight trip to Portland in November for some Christmas shopping.

Looking forward to see you at our next Pub Night on Wednesday.

INTERNeX Canada: INTERNeX Explorer- Whistler´s Natural parks!

The weekend is coming soon! And of course our INTERNeX Whistler Trip as well!

Whistler is one of the most popular places of British Colombia and of course on the best places to sky on the winter! But that´s not all! It is also known for his nightlife and natural parks! There are several park around Whistler, some of the are:

Rainbow Park is located on the west side of Whistler Valley. You can go there riding less than half an hour along the Valley Trail from the Village.

Lakeside Park is on Lakeside Road and it has a nice area specially prepared for the kids but you can also find picnic tables, BBQs, and in summer you can rent a canoe there.

Another nice park is Wayside Park, it is near Whistler, just in the Creekside neighborhood, but you can also access by the Valley Trail. It offers a small beach with kayak rentals, BBQs, and picnic tables.

At last but not least there is the great Lost Lake Park. We will choose this hike for our trip! This park has around 32 km of cross-country trails with amazing views of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. It´s one of the most preferred destinations for ski and snowboard! But it has a popular sandy beach, BBQs, kids area and picnic tables as well!

Definitely it sounds like we have to hike it! Maybe we will find the lake…maybe we will get lost (something 99 % sure if I guide) but I am pretty sure we will have fun!

Please guys don´t forget to stop by the office and pay for the trip!

It will be epic!!

Can´t wait for the weekend!

See you tonight with a great Burger Pub Night!

Cheers,

Irene

INTERNeX Canada: Whistle Weekend Review

After the last weekend we can look back to an amazing Whistler trip! We had so much fun in these two action-packed days! Exciting hikes to lakes and a suspension bridge, fascinating bike rides with gripping lake views, thrilling ziplines and literally breathtaking bungee jumps!

We started off on Friday and our bus ride was filled with the foggy and mysterious-looking landscapes of the famous Sea-to-Sky Highway. In Whistler we checked in the HI hostel and were happy to discover our rooms to be in a private unit with bathroom facilities – just for our group! Friday night we enjoyed the nightlife of Whistler Village: we went for pizza, had drinks and watched sport highlights of the day in a pub, danced the night away in a club where a fire breathing bartender entertained us even more.

Our Saturday trip started with a hike to Lost Lake that actually was quite easy to find :-). Later, some of us rented bikes to continue a sunny tour around the beautiful Whistler lakes. Others had probably the most thrilling experience of their lives: we jumped from a 50m high bridge over the Cheakamus River! A moment that will stick with us forever. In the evening rain took over in Whistler, so we stayed in the hostel and had a tasty dinner with hamburgers and salad. A spacious and fully equipped kitchen was perfect to prepare food for the whole group and was a lot of fun for us all! It was a relaxed evening at HI Whistler: we hung out in the comfy chairs of the hostel’s common area and used the TV room with the huge screen for a movie night!

The hostel also provides a convenient dining room and café for breakfast, which was amazing for an early Sunday morning. We began our day with a hike starting right next to the hostel and discovered a suspension bridge on our way! Some of us went for another adrenaline shot and zip lined high up the Blackcomb Mountain. To end our perfect Whistler experience we took the Peak2Peak Gondola to see the graceful mountains expand in front of us and, once on the top, we spotted the famous Inukshuk Olympic symbol! It was a spectacular view!

Thank you everybody for joining this amazing trip and making it an unforgettable experience!

Cheers,

Xenia
