INTERNeX Canada: Smart Saver

It’s Smart Saver time! This time it’s Smart Saver for all the foodies in Vancouver and Toronto, who love to go for a cheap lunch, but do not want to wander around the city half-starving to find a cheap deal.

For you I found a website called chowmenow.com, where Aden Klein wandered through tons of restaurant/trucks to find the best deal for you under $5. Who does not want to eat a lunch for under 5 bucks? So head over to the website and select your neighborhood and of you can go. Yes it is that easy.

Enjoy your $5 lunch

INTERNeX Canada: Smart Saver Vancouver

Moving to an office located in a mall  can be an advantage for example when you find very nice restaurants and deals. (I know is pretty hard not to buy anything when you love to shop or so), but today I’m gonna tell you about a few interesting things I’ve found in Tinseltown – International Village.

It’s true that we have inside of Tinseltown a lot of cheap places where you can eat a huge variety of food: from Chinese to Mexican, all of them cheap and nice food but there are a few places that I specially recommend.

The first one is for lovers of Asian food: There is a restaurant called “Zen Kenit” in the second floor , where you can get a “all you can eat lunch” for $9.95. (This all you can eat mixes Asian cuisine, for example Chinese, and also Sushi) For the price the quality is really good, so it’s forth it !!

But if you don’t like Asian cuisine, I’ve found  another interesting offer for you. Quite close to the first Asian restaurant that I’ve told you there is a Mexican one called “TacoTime“.

In this nice restaurant every Tuesday the taco costs just $0.99 (You can choose between taco meat, or a veggie one). I’m pretty sure that this deal in unbeatable.

I hope you can try these amazing restaurants, and I wish you a great week!

Best,

Mercedes

INTERNeX Canada: How was your weekend?

we survived!

On Saturday afternoon, we went to North Vancouver to play some epic paintball! When we first got there, I noticed that there were a lot of people getting ready. I thought the getting ready process was way too long…filling out a waiver form, listening to their safety speech  getting our guns and paintball, putting on overalls, and then FINALLY getting to play. And they take their safety rules VERY seriously…which is a good thing I guess.

The funniest thing I saw was a guy dressed up as a pink bunny! And his suit was skin-tight. And there I was padded to the max -two layers of pants, two shirts, and a puffy winter jacket. I can only imagine how painful it must have been for poor Mr. bunny. What a champion.

I think everyone had a great time, I know I did! We played four rounds in total, but most of us stopped playing after three rounds. I took a bullet on the arm and it hurt a lot at first but then got numb after. I now have a bruise. During my last game, I was the only one left from our group. It was so intense…I just wanted to get out of the game that I even contemplated shooting myself. I did hit someone though. It was such a triumphant moment…but brief.

ready to battle?

After being physically and mentally drained, we all trudged to the local Earls restaurant for late lunch. Everyone was so hungry that we didn’t even talk during our meal. And later that night, I went to Forum pub on Granville street to say goodbye to some of our friends who are leaving soon. It’s always sad to see them go…but I’m really glad I got to be a part of their awesome experience here in Vancouver.

What did YOU do last weekend? 🙂

Cheers,

Flora

INTERNeX Canada: Culture shock

-“I am going to take dinner”

– What? Do you want to say an afternoon snack?

– Not dinner, is already late.

– Late? It´s just 7 pm.

This is just one example of a real conversation between a Spanish and Non-Spanish people.

For Canadians, Europeans…and in general the rest of the world except my country it´s usually to have lunch around 12 or 1 pm and dinner around 6 pm! Oh my goodness!

Spain it´s absolutely different…we usually have lunch around 2 or 3pm and dinner not before 9pm…

Sometimes it´s funny because in Madrid, when you have lunch in a restaurant, you always stay longer speaking, taking a coffee… so the lunch can last around 3 hours and when you are finishing the lunch  it´s not strange  to see tourist already ordering dinner.

If I stop to think about that, it is much healthier to eat earlier, in that way you have time enough to burn everything before sleeping…but after 24 years having lunch at 3pm and dinner at 10…is quite difficult to change it! But I am trying!

And the worse of all is that here is not usually to take a nap after lunch… there is not a big pleasure to arrive tired home, eat a Spanish omelet and take a nap… Oh God!

It would be healthier to eat earlier and be active for more time…but the combination of a late lunch and nap it´s something everybody must try at least once at life!!

Right now I don´t know if I am hungry, or I need to sleep…or both of them… anyways..

Try the magic combination!

Cheers,

Irene
