How was your weekend?

Another sunny weekend is behind us, where we had the possibility to explore beautiful Vancouver.

Saturday was a pretty chill day for me. I went downtown and did a bit of window shopping in the afternoon, which is always fun.

Sunday was another marathon in downtown Vancouver. I watched it for a while, and it was quite amusing seeing some of the participants dressed up in weird costumes. The atmosphere was great. Afterwards, I walked along the water by Coal Harbour and enjoyed the view as well as the weather.

By the afternoon, I got ready to go to the trampoline park in New Westminster. We met around 5:30, so we could start jumping by 6. In the beginning all of us were full of energy, enthusiastic and jumping around like little kids. Some of us were even able to pull off some flips. The trampoline park also had a foam pit, which was….interesting, as most of us struggled to get out of it. We also had a few intense matches of dodge ball. After one and a half hours we were exhausted but still hung around for a bit. Overall, it was a fun experience. Thanks to everyone who showed up.

Hope to see you on Wednesday at PuB NiGHT!

What to do on the weekend?

Yay! Just a few hours left and it will be weekend again! Although it is rainy and cloudy today, it’ s supposed to be quite sunny this weekend so enough outdoors activities to do!

On Saturday morning we will go to Lighthouse Park to start the weekend of with some exercise. The views are amazing from that area so we hope to see you come along! For details please click here.

Because it is supposed to get sunny I would advise you to go outside! Go up to Grouse grousemountainMountain for example. I did this last weekend and the views were absolutely amazing. You are still able to go skiing by the Eagle Express. Besides that the grizzly bears Grinder and Coola who live in a habitat on the mountain, woke up from their hibernation period. They are in full action again and you are able to take a look at them. So it is definitely worth your money to go up the mountain!

From May 6 to May 13 it is Bird Week in Vancouver. This is a weeklong series of events to celebrate the birds of Vancouver. During this week there will be bird-related workshops, walks, talks, exhibitions and lectures across Vancouver. You don’t need to be a bird fanatic for this one, also if you just like the outdoors you are welcome to join. Best part is that most of the events are free, so check out their website to see if something suits you.

On Sunday the annual BMO Vancouver Marathon is happening. This is a really big event, which goes all across the city. Because of the marathon on Sunday there is a free Health & Sports Expo in the Vancouver Convention Centre till 6pm on Saturday. When you want to catch all the action at the finish line, you have to go to West Pender Street between Bute and Thurlow Street. There is also a Street Festival located on West Hastings between Bute and Burrard Street. Check out all the events and details on their website 🙂

Have a great and shiny weekend everyone!

INTERNeX Canada: Fun Facts!

Summer of love, summer of love !! It was always said that summer is the season of love, and it´s true guys: Love is in the air.

Summer, the season when the happiness is a must, a need and a tireless search as it was a treasure. An imperative when our hearts beat faster while our hormones go trough the roof like a cheerful carnival. A season where you can go for a romantic walk beneath the moon or simply enjoy the frenetic nights in the dance floor. Everything is possible !!

Here we have some examples in Vancouver, maybe not conventional examples, but very original ! Let´s see…

Jarred Greff and Nina Schmidt

The first example  is a couple who got married during the “I love transit week” , on the bus Number 3.

It may seem that is crazy , but the reason why they got married there is because  they met each other in this bus.

None of the wedding guests (more and less 30)  had to pay the transit fare.

The bus picked up the guests at one location and then drove up to a church to pick up the bride. Interesting, isn´t it ? Congratulations to both on tying the knot !

The second example, is not a wedding, but a proposal !

Can you imagine that you are running one of the most famous marathons in Vancouver with around 10,000 runners participating, and after crossing the finish line your boyfriend proposes to marry in the middle of the crowd ??

Well, I guess I wouldn´t imagine something like this before, but it happened during the SeaWheeze lululemon Half-Marathon a few weeks ago.

I am sure that for him the most important about the marathon was not to finish it, if not the answer of his girlfriend: YES !!

What do you think guys? Is pretty interesting..Now that I told you this, take care because love is everywhere !!

Best,

Mercedes

INTERNeX Canada: How was your weekend?

There is nothing better than a holiday Monday, so I’m sure most of you are still in weekend mode like I am 🙂

I had a great long weekend catching up with friends and family and celebrating with a nice Easter dinner on Sunday.  The weather was absolutely amazing so I took the opportunity to do some half marathon training.  I did a 17km run in the sun and I have to say it was so nice to run in a t-shirt and not a rain jacket!

There was a Canucks game on Saturday, which always means a busy night downtown, so my friends and I headed out to the Roxy for some music and dancing.  We of course ended up at Roxy Burger for a late night meal, the perfect end to a night.

Did any of you guys celebrate Easter this weekend? Tell us how your weekend went and you’ll have the chance to win some prizes!!

Easter Sunday Feast!

Cheers,
Kristina
